    Vedran Brainfade Costs Wanderers. Again.

    mack

For the 3rd time this season Vedran Janjetovic has made a complete brain snap, this time an error in the 95th minute to gift Brisbane Roar a corner that Adam Taggart nodded home to give the Roar a dramatic 2-2 draw.

The Wanderers controlled the game for the entire first half, giving the Roar precious little to come at them with. Roly Bonevacia opened the scoring in the 18th minute, latching onto a long ball over the top of the Roar defence by Brendan Hamill. Roly picked up the ball about 12 yards out from goal, he cut back inside and fired through the legs of Luke DeVere before beating Jamie Young at the near post.

Western Sydney were cruising when Kwame Yeboah continued his good start to his career in the Red & Black. Oriol Riera found Bruce Kamau with a neat ball into the area, he tapped it back for Yeboah and the new striker turned Connor O'Toole and rippled the back of the net on the far side.

After half-time the Wanderers & Roar ambled along to what looked like an inevitable win for the visiting team, only for the 5 minutes of stoppage time to produce the dramatic ending and yet another Wanderers collapse.

Firstly the Roar saw Taggart and Tobias Mikelson play a neat one-two pass to put Mikkelsen one on one against Tate Russel, and the Danish midfielder went around and shot through the legs of Janjetovic to put the Roar within striking distance of a point.

Secondly, as the Roar launched an aimless ball into the Wanderers penalty box with 30 seconds left of injury time, all Janjetovic had to do was let it roll out for a goal kick, or smother it 8 yards out from goal and boot it up-field to give Wanderers their breakthrough 2019 win. Instead, he let it roll slowly toward the goal line before inexplicably throwing out a right foot as the ball reached the by-line.

Having won a corner off the brainless stupidity of the Wanderers keeper, the Roar threw the kitchen sink and their own keeper Jamie Young into the penalty box, followed by a ball into the 6 yard box. Young, Taggart and Tarek Elrich threw themselves at the ball, it connected with Taggart's head and the ball flew past Janjetovic for a stunning equaliser.

As the Roar ran off in celebrating the dumbstruck Wanderers had to rue the 3rd brainsnap of the season from Janjetovic, another two points dropped from a seemingly unassailable position. While Markus Babbel could only laugh in reaction after being questioned in a post-game interview, he must surely be absolutely livid internally. That 3rd mistake should mark the end of the Wanderers career for Janjetovic, who has been a disaster in goals since swapping with Andrew Redmayne.

The Wanderers now have to pick themselves up to face Newcastle on Friday, February 1st with a 7:50PM EDT kick-off at ANZ Stadium Homebush.

Should have done a tutelage with us under Corry IMO. And in his opinion too, if I got the right end of the stick.

Thanks Taurus, I saw that he was there but didn't know how recent his appointment was.

Then there would have been 2 people sitting quietly...in different rooms.

1 rocky relationship is enough at the moment...😁

I am gunna say something here :

Redmayne was an absolute DUD playing infront of the wanderers back 4 that included Hamill , or Thwaite or Cornthwaite , Clisby  cant remember the rest.

look at Redmayne the last 2 seasons infront of a good defence , no one can deny he is a very good keeper for the  smurfs.

Vedran had a pretty solid year last year, this with increasingly unsettled defence in front of him he has struggled.

There is a common factor Hamill  , he is no good, never has been and never will be  for goodness sake in the first 5 minutes last night he took an air swing at the ball when he was last line of defence and we were just lucky to have bad opposition

Fix our defensive back 4 and start by getting rid of Hamill and Vedran will be ok behind a solid defence.

    Trust me

A good defence makes a good goalkeeper

For the record, isn't the keeper playing BEHIND the back four?

Usually, however not always in Vedran's case.

Should Vedran keep a number of clean sheet over the next few games especially against Easts, and one or two penalty saves then and only then will he be on the road to redemption, otherwise the path to perdition awaits.

Having had a few days to process what happened, I still blame Vedran. We did our usual trick of pissing our pants but regardless, we had the win all wrapped up. That ball simply rolls out for a goal kick and we’re home and hosed. People make mistakes but to me that’s just completely unforgivable what happened, looked like he was trying to be way too fancy.

Vedran has always had a greater than average arrogance about him. That arrogance is starting to cause issues for the team.

    I would rather he not

I calmed down now so I can comment.

Janjetovic should not see a game for the rest of the season that is now 8 points he has cost us. His head is just not in it and even after a lay off still silly mistakes and this one for being a smart a** on killing time. Most clubs would let him go at season's end after these mistakes (remember Loris Karius for Liverpool). Maybe something to review at season's end.

Hamill I have zero confidence in him he was terrible against Brisbane. In the middle O'Doherty and Tockich both good on the ball but there were gaping holes throughout the match that Brisbane continually exploited just glad that the Roar are also down on confidence. Tate Russel looked tired in that game, played too many games consecutively and body is not use to it. He needs a rest it was telling when Henrique was running circles on him it will be good to have Rizzo back.

People asking for Redmayne back have very short memories he was terrible for us and is good now because he has a good defence in front of him.

And no, I don't want him back.

Lol yes BUT we also had Scott Neville, Alberto, NTS and Jamieson as our back four with Andreu and Dimas in the middle we made the final despite having Redmayne as our keeper

Redmayne is that same as he was with us. He was always a good shot stopper but sucked at decision making and taking the high ball in a crowd. He still makes weird decisions and I remember in an FFA Cup game this season he dropped an easy high ball and conceded a goal.

And no, I also don't want him back.

Nah I disagree with this wrapping them in cotton wool approach. He’s calling it like it is and says we need to improve.

Germany is a much better footballing nation than us so really, if that’s the way they do it in Germany, please do it here

It’d be nice to have players which play with fire and can handle pressure because they’ll be better for it

You realise we’re nearly running last... how has his approach been successful so far? If nothing changes, nothing changes.

It’s irrelevant how good Germany are as a football nation, I feel confident in saying there are a lot more factors involved then the approach of a manager that’s been punted by his last couple of clubs in Germany...

If MB wasn’t MB people would be a lot more critical of his approach. People are blinded by his playing resume.

I have faith in MB, only 6 or so weeks ago the comment being thrown around was how are we going to score, for all the **** we've endured in January 2019, we've definitely looks more threatening going forward and have been scoring - without AB10 & Riera (not that Riera has delivered much this season).

As its been explained & analysed daily - its our defence & GK that have let us down this month as well as a few refereeing failures.

I'm confident all we need is to get that elusive win just to get the monkey off the back and lift the pressure off the players shoulders, just for them to experience walking into the sheds at FT to celebrations of a win from the crowd will help the "mentality" immensely. They already know this but they've got themselves in this situation, only they will get themselves out of the situation.

This is the time now to really declare your allegiance & love for WSW imo, the players have addressed the Non Committing attitude from the City game on New Years Day and are definitely having a go, which is what we want.

No better time to rock up and keep supporting the club we love, if you want to be there for the good times, you should be there for the **** times, especially when the players are having a go. That's Western Sydney right there :flag:

we Have not missed a game , thunder storms , send off's, heat and knuckleheads but we the magnificent 7 will continue to turn up , we can see light at the end of the tunnel.,

It may not be this Friday night or the week after but it is coming together , we just wish we had the aussie german back and a choice for Hamil there lies our weakness along with no hardnosed defending midfielder.

Be there Friday night, we will be.

Mentioning Roly by name and praising him when he has done well is allowed on WSF....

Just look at his face post match interview the other day and tell me he hasnt been giving everything...

Sounds like Babbel is giving Vedran a chance to redeem himself against Newcastle , I applaud Babbel for supporting Vedran. Screw up again and I think the support will be gone.

I wonder whether he wants Suman to play in the Y-League Grand Final so he's giving Vedran "one last chance".

I think that is not a bad thing....have the best team possible for the grand final.......it's not like winning against Newcastle is going to change anything
