  • Wanderers Dominate Sydney FC And Win 2-0

    mack

Sydney FC were dominated on and off the pitch in the fourth Sydney Derby, with the Wanderers taking bragging rights with a 2-0 win.

In front of a record NSW regular season A-League crowd of 40,388 the Western Sydney Wanderers produced a storming first half that left the blue half of Sydney in shock & awe. Both of Sydney FC's expensive marquee players were absent due to injury, while for the Wanderers Aaron Mooy was not risked after his severe concussion suffered against Wellington the week prior.

With raucous away support cheering the Wanderers it was Iacopo La Rocca who opened the scoring. Rhyan Grant cut down Tomi Juric deep on the right flank and gave away the foul. Youssouf Hersi ran over the ball and left it for Shinji Ono. The Japanese genius delivered a pin-point cross on the edge of the 6 yard box. La Rocca's strength saw him get to the ball over Sydney defender Seb Ryall, and the Italian defender forced the ball home to the back post.

15 minutes later and it was Shinji Ono who doubled the Wanderers advantage. A quick paced attack by Hersi was cleared by Sydney FC but only as far as La Rocca, who turned the ball onto the flank for Polenz. His left footed cross was blocked and it skewed away to Ono. Attacking the ball he lifted it high into the air and attempted to nod the ball onward. Even with his path blocked by two defenders, Ono managed to control the ball with his knee, then while falling he flicked out a boot to shoot. His pin-point accurate shot evaded a full length dive by Vedran Janjetovic and nestled into the bottom right corner to send the away support into raptures. Ono ran off to celebrate with Tomi Juric in tow as Sydney pondered the prospect of another Derby defeat at their home.

Sydney's best chance of the game came from an audacious long-range free kick. Mateo Poljak was adjudged by referee Strebre Delovski to have come front behind on Richard Garcia. From nigh on 40 yards Nikola Petkovic lined up a thunderbolt strike that crashed off the woodwork.

On 79 minutes a lighting Wanderers attack down the right flank when Ono managed to turn the ball into the path of an on-rushing Shannon Cole who cut the ball back for Mateo Poljak. With all the time in the world and the the top left corner looming the Croatian midfielder blazed what would have been a match-sealing shot over the bar. The Poznan began in earnest and Mark Bridge should have done better with a golden chance, put through on goal by Poljak, Bridge had only the keeper to beat, but Seb Ryall managed to claw ground back and legally stopped Bridge from being able to shoot on target.

Sydney FC's inability to make an impact on the match is summed up by the fact that it took until a tame shot from 35 yards from Marc Warren in the 84th minute before they registered a shot on target.

Western Sydney had several chances to seal the match in front of their away support, but it wasn't required, they were in cruise control and Sydney FC were totally unable to put any pressure or score the one goal that would have created an interesting finish.

Western Sydney are now in 2nd place on the A-League ladder on 5 points, one behind leaders Brisbane. Sydney FC languish in 6th spot with a tough away trip to Perth in the offing.

The next Wanderers match is against Adelaide United on Friday the 2nd of November at Parramatta Stadium. Kick-off is 7:30PM.

Btw the non-active section singing we unite as one for 10 minutes.... Dream. Come. True.

Yes even in 56 (WANDERERS support Lvl 2) we were going strong. Then it led into the Poznan. Then WDWSF. Then Don't wanna go home. FARKING LEGENDARY

Didn't even knew we scored the first goal and this was from non active. The power of the RBB

My d1ckhead Smurf story comes on the walk from fox studios to SFS. These three mongrels just randomly taunting me so I can hear it.(I'm only 14 so those pussies know I won't fight back). Them saying to themselves. Where do you think this guy got his Nikes from?

Mate only from Foot Locker Church Street. In my head but dreaming I could say it. ******* amen born and bred you smurf ****s

    • Goodness gracious me. This was better than Moore Park, Gosford, Newcastle and the GF last year, and better than Gosford a couple of weeks back. By far. Especially in the first 30 minutes the atmosphere was as electric as I've ever experienced in a football ground. This truly was the best trip I've ever been on.
    • We bossed the midfield with good passing, physical presence, and aggression. We played like Phoenix last week, and some.
    • Phoenix exposed the limitations in NTS and La Rocca and made D'Apuzzo look like a liability - or so I thought. They must have had smurfs for breakfast. They were top notch, like the rest of the team.
    • Red and Black in general and the RBB in particular owned the ground. Very very impressive.
    • It was great to see red and black and smurf blue walking side by side to and from the match.
    • I can't here Sydney FC. Well, I couldn't actually, for most of the time anyway. When I did hear them briefly, the RBB turned up the volume immediately, and that was that.
    • A very different police presence and attitude than experienced in Gosford.

    Flops

    • Bridge still somewhat rusty.
    • Flares and fireworks. It looked and sounded spectacular when they were set off. I believe they hand out five year bans for this kind of stuff. If you get found out: you'll need Foxtel. You'll be having a lot of spare time on your own without your RBB buddies on match days. Hope it was worth it.
    • Sloppy conversion rate, especially in the second half. This could easily have been another 0-4 had we been more focussed.
    • Hersey's injury. Hope it's nothing serious.
    • The smurf dudes above the RBB making a nuisance of themselves towards the end of the match.
    • Capacity of the ground: 45,500. Sold out, but more than 5000 seats were empty? Same BS as last week in Parra, and the week before in Gosford. Bit of a joke really.
    • To the muppets in front of us in Bay 56 sitting in front of the rail. Yes, I mean you, you dickheads. If flares give you a five year ban, than the four of you should not be allowed near a football ground at all. Pissed, foul mouthed, making a nuisance of yourselves throughout the match, and to top it off throwing down coke and water bottles at other WSW supporters. Not cool at all. I hope no one got injured. You are the type of footbal people who can spoil it for those around you who are forced to watch your sorry arses for two hours. If I don't see any of you four meatheads ever again it'll still be too soon. If you can't handle beer, try orange juice. Or lemonade. Or stay at home. Disgraceful. ****wits.

What an amazing night. Took my brother in law who has never stood in the RBB before and he loved it. He stood and sang all the songs. Edges of the RBB where I stand as have two younger sons, still needs to join in more both home and away. They run out of steam throughout the night and we need more fans in these areas to encourage them to keep singing to keep the atmosphere up in the outer RBB areas. Some of these fans don't know the chants well yet so get practising !!

Great to see the non active areas getting more active and joining in more each game.

On the radio I heard the Cove a maximum of 2-3 tines during the match.

How embarrasing to be owned in your own stadium. Must really get them down knowing in a fortnight they are back at home after being owned, watching sh it football, singing nursery rhymes you have been singing from season one,and putting anyone watching on tv to sleep.

What a great day and night.

Getting caught up in the esfc march was the only time I heard them, funny scenes.

What a buzz, having finally seen Shinji's goal, poor defending but what a class act, the free kick was inch perfect too.

Seeing the non active areas active was a massive highlight.

Walking the streets in search of the perfect Pizza afterwards only to end up with a kebab at central was still quicker than driving I think.

Can't imagine letting myself get into a situation where I didn't have tix to these matches, way too good to miss.

Feel like I've been run over and voice box ripped out.

HELL YEAH, Can't hear Sydney FC  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that was fun. :xbop:  :good:  :xbop:   Wow they are a really terrible football side.

Terrible? More like an abomination in every essence of the word.

As mentioned already by someone I love how us "wogans" just dont gve a ****. Active or non active we all get involved and sing and go nuts.

ESFC have the self conscious rod jammed so far up their clacker the most their non active supporters can manage is a feeble "Syyyyydney fc"

Post match intrview on ABC radio - Beauchamp says "Im proud to be a westie"

    Enough said

Apart from a few 100 in the cove the rest of the East Sydney support is no different to the AFL or NRL mob. I don't sit in the RBB but I join in and go mental. Up in Gosford I was near the corporate boxes at the back and after we scored I turned around and a CCM women in there looked at me like 'wow' where the hell did all that come from, but who cares, the more  the better  :good:

So proud of WSW this morning.

I thought juric played really well. Always a handful for their defence. And it was good to see polenz and la rocca giving it to the cove after the first goal.

Bay 39 was sensational to sit in last night...... Joined in pretty much every chant and bay was rocking... Took 2 boys that never been to an a league game and they were into it so much there asking about tickets to Adelaide on Friday night

Kudos to the Wanderers fan in the cove that's seen on TV after la roca opener..... Hope he got out alright and hope he had a great night

As for Sydney fc, looks like they spent more time on their banner than they did their tactics ( or singing )...bunch of clowns

    2-0 and 2 easy

Apparently there was disagreement as to which venue in eastern sydney serves the most accomplished high tea.

Second derby at sfs and OMG what a night!! Great job well done to all the wsw fans that rocked up and supported an artistic well composed squad. One down was the throwing of 2 chairs within the active area at wanderers supporters. My mate got hit by one of those chairs and it was very upsetting and disappointing. God help that individual to put some bloody sanity into his head. Respect the RBB!!
