  • Wanderers Season Opener Postponed

    mack

The double header Western Sydney Wanderers vs Macarthur A-League and W-League Wanderers vs Sydney FC matches have been postponed until Wednesday December 30th.

As a result of the Northern Beaches Covid outbreak cluster the NSW Government has required the Wanderers to move their A-League and W-League fixtures that were set for the 27th of December.

Additionally, the game, should it take place on the newly scheduled date of Wednesday December 30th, will be reduced to 50% of stadium capacity.

Please stay in touch with the news at WestSydneyFootball.com as well as the club and league social media communications to keep updated on further developments.

Anyone know what is happening with the RBB?

I was wondering that as well. They still haven't posted a status on their social media.

    Hopefully they will surprise us.

Covid may be the killer.  I hope not.

I don't think 50% capacity should be an excuse for them not showing up. The grand final only had 7.5k and the cove had good numbers.

I'm hoping they make a late post because it'll be a damn shame if they can't even show up for the new derby.

That'll be dependent on whatever is announced as the restrictions - by the government / stadium / club.  And who knows when that will be...

Restrictions re: having to stay seated / not being allowed to chant / sing, etc.

IMO - in between people taking holidays after a bad year plus this unfolding Northern Beaches situation, fans who don't turn up shouldn't be judged harshly

This is different to the ANZ/Spotless years where people didn't want to go because the on field performance was poor

I want to go on Wednesday but I'm keeping my eye out on the 11am conferences with Gladys/Hazzard/Chant

It's bizarre the "critiquing" of the RBB's attendance - rather than the Wanderers fanbase as a whole?

The RBB isn't for your entertainment...

Also - last I checked, there was still pandemic.

So you know, people's priorities may have (understandably) changed.

I disagree with the part about the RBB not being for our entertainment. They are one of the main reasons why many people attend our games, especially in the earlier years because they create pretty much all the atmosphere.

I agree with and understand everything else you said. I wasn't having a dig at them. I'm apart of the RBB and I'm simply stating I hope we can get at least some turn out to stick it to our new rivals.

Ill definitely be there on Wednesday night.

Should be able to download electronic ticket from your account then give that to the other person - they can print or use the code on their phone
