  • Several Wanderers have been added to the A-League All Star squad that will take on Manchester United on Saturday the 20th of July.

     

    The Wanderers who are confirmed in the squad are:

    • Wanderers Captain Michael Beauchamp.
    • Wanderers top goal scorer Mark Bridge.
    • WestSydneyFootball.Com Player of the Year Youssouf Hersi.
    • A-League Goalkeeper of the Year Ante Covic.
    • WestSydneyFootball.com Defender of the Year Nikolai Topor-Stanley.

    Western Sydney Wanderers Marquee player Shinji Ono has withdrawn due to fitness concerns.

     

    The match will take play at Stadium Australia later this month.

     

    Manchester United will be having a 90 minute training session on the 19th of July at the Sydney Football Stadium that 20,000 tickets will be sold at a cost of $15 each. They will go on sale tomorrow, and "Football Family" members are advised to check their email inbox for an early access ticket window.

    Parramatta Stadium will receive Federal Government funding of $20 million to upgrade the changing rooms, improve hospitality facilities, the construction of a training area and to increase capacity to over 24,000 seats.

     

    The upgrade, which was revealed by WestSydneyFootball.Com last week, was confirmed today at Parramatta Stadium in a press conference involving several Government ministers from all levels, as well as representatives from the Parramatta Eels Rugby League club and the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club.

     

    Features include:

    * A new entrance concourse.

    * Improved toilet facilities in the Eastern Stand.

    * Improved food and drink outlets in the Eastern Stand.

    * A 500 seat function room.

    * A new kitchen and service lifts.

    * New corporate hospitality suites.

    * Upgrading the changing rooms for the players.

    * A gym in the Western Grandstand.

    * Extending the training field to full size.

    * 3,300 seats added to the Northern and Southern Ends, brining stadium capacity up over 24,000 seats.

    The expansion is set to be completed in early 2015.

    • Best shown by a chance Toure had when an Indonesian player had fallen over, he had a simple ball about 10 meters that would have put one of our attackers clean through for a one on one. He over-hit it and ruined the chance. Also falling for the same old Asian team diving & time wasting, by giving away stupid fouls to let them fall over and sit on the ground for minutes. 11 minutes stoppage time is probably half what it deserved.
    • Yet again, a failure of pace and power football over technically skilled football in on display in the Olyroos vs Indonesia.  We need to develop skills over pace at all levels
    • Milanovic & Brook should have been on the next flight home at half-time.
