Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets - Friday 7:30PM EDT - Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Adelaide United United are 4th. 12W 3D 9L. 39 Points. +3 GD.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: WLDLW. 2-0 Win, away against Melbourne Heart.
    • Ladder Movement: A draw or win would secure 4th spot and a home final. Losing would keep Sydney FC in with an extremely remote chance of snatching 4th spot from them.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Adelaide appear to be preparing for a tilt at the Grand Final after some indifferent form, Galekovic was once again brilliant, keeping Heart from opening the scoring with two wonderful saves. Ramsay & Cassio look to have their spark back, a dangerous prospect for the other sides in the competition.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Those opening few moments showed some weakness in their defence before being rescued by their keeper.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Newcastle Jets are 6th. 8W 6D 11L. 30 Points. -12 GD. One extra game played.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: LLWWD. 1-2 Loss, away against Perth Glory.
    • Ladder Movement: Newcastle having played an extra game only have 6 points left available. If they lose it is very conceivable they would end the regular season in 9th, as the three teams below them are all within 3 points, and all have a better goal difference.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Two losses on the trot don't suggest much good work, but Adam Taggart would've had a brace if not for the reflexes of Vukovic. Despite that he brought the Jets back into the game before half-time.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: They dominated this game but came away with nothing because of some poor defensive lapses. The last second goal to Thwaite for Perth was a massive blow to their finals chances and it may have destroyed their morale.

Prediction: Adelaide on the rise, wanting to secure a home final at home, against a team in poor form. Adelaide should take this comfortably. 3-0 Adelaide.

Melbourne Heart vs Western Sydney Wanderers - Saturday 5:30PM EDT - AAMI Park, Melbourne.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Melbourne Heart are 9th. 8W 3D 13L. 27 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: LLWLW. 0-2 Loss, home against Adelaide United.
    • Ladder Movement: Melbourne Heart are approaching the point of no return. If they can pull off a win they would go temporarily into 6th, although all 4 of the teams below them also play after they do. Losing would put them on the brink of 'mathematically impossible.'
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Only Andrew Redmayne stood between an even bigger scoreline.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Everyone who isn't Andrew Redmayne. This goes for manager John Aloisi as well. He got the nod over the more experienced Ante Milicic but the Heart board haven't been repaid for their faith with results on the pitch.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Western Sydney Wanderers are 1st. 16W 2D 6L. 50 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: WWWWW. 2-1 Win, home against Wellington Phoenix.
    • Ladder Movement: Win the match, and a Central Coast draw or loss will win the title for Western Sydney. Lose or draw and the race stays open another week.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Hersi pulled the less than impressive Wanderers out of the fire by creating two penalties.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Western Sydney won that match by pure willpower, not through being dominant or as good as the 1st to 10th difference suggested. A finals series is not a good place for a team that are struggling, even if they keep grabbing wins.

Prediction: They need to sort out their form and the lowly Heart side is the best chance to do it before two big local matches to end the season. With the Premiership on the line Popa will make sure they do the job professionally and can put pressure on the Mariners. 2-0 Western Sydney.

Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory - Saturday 7:30PM EDT - Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Sydney FC are 5th. 9W 3D 12L. 30 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: WLLWW. 2-0 Win, home against Central Coast Mariners.
    • Ladder Movement: Sydney can deliver a killer blow to the finals hopes of Newcastle and Melbourne Heart if they can win the 'Big Blue', it would put them over Newcastle who are a game behind and leave the rest of the pack scrapping it out for 6th place. A loss would mean the Sydney Derby takes on even greater importance as it may be the key to playing in the finals.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Joel Chinanese grabbed his chance off the bench with both hands, slicing through on goal by a neat one-two pass with Antonis to kill the Mariners hopes.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Despite the win Sydney FC didn't play all that well, Central Coast blew several good chances including an open goal shot when it was 1-0.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Melbourne Victory are 3rd. 12W 4D 8L. 40 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: DWLLL. 1-1 Draw, away against Brisbane Roar.
    • Ladder Movement: Victory have secured a home final, and are in with a shot of finishing 2nd. To do that they need to win here. If they cannot beat Sydney it will setup a very close race with Adelaide to determine 3rd and 4th place.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Leigh Broxham defied gravity to leap above his marker to smash home a goal that eventually gave his side a point against the Roar. A good football team has contributors all over the park and Broxham was a welcome source of a goal in an otherwise inaccurate team.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Archie Thompson was the source of the assist for Broxham, but was poor in front of goal. Mark Milligan was also off target. Ange has to get his team firing as they won't last long in the finals if they can't put goals from good positions away.

Prediction: Melbourne have the wood over Sydney & Sydney aren't playing well. Ange to get his side firing. 4-1 Melbourne.

Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar - Sunday 5:00PM EDT - Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Central Coast Mariners are 2nd. 13W 6D 5L. 45 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: LLWLW. 2-0 Loss, away against Sydney FC.
    • Ladder Movement: The task is simple. Win and keep the title race going another week. Lose and they might see the choke completed for another year.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: They were garbage. No-one in that team deserves to be told they did well. They might have an excuse of tiredness and playing in the Champions League, but that doesn't cut it when results are needed.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Run faster, jumped higher, tackled harder, shot straighter, passed better, not getting in the way of shots and deflecting them. You name it, they should have done it better last week. Also penalties. They still can't score them, as we saw mid-week in the ACL.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Brisbane Roar are 7th. 8W 5D 11L. 29 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: DWDWL. 1-1 Draw, home against Melbourne Victory.
    • Ladder Movement: For anyone out of the top 6 right now the objective is simple, win. Roar do that they go into the Top 6 above at least Newcastle. Perth and Heart loom as potential challengers should Roar lose.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Ben Halloran, Luke Brattan and Ivan Franjic were the key trio for this match, Halloran unlucky not to score, Brattan securing the defensive area and being solid in possession & Franjic's pace allowing him to blast a shot past Coe to win a point for Brisbane.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Defensively fragility in the back four wasn't punished like it otherwise might have been, and the Mariners are unlikely to spur as many chances as Victory did the week before.

    Prediction: 1-1 Draw.

Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix - Sunday 7:00PM EDT - nib Stadium, Perth.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Perth Glory are 8th. 8W 4D 12L. 28 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: WWLWL. 2-1 Win, away against Newcastle Jets.
    • Ladder Movement: For Perth to sneak into the finals they have to look to win every match they have left. If the win this one they would likely end up in 6th or 7th, but losing makes their task very hard.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Michael Thwaite has been arguably their best player this season and was called up to the National Team because of it, and actually got up the other end in the dying minutes to score the winner. Danny Vukovic was also great in goal, pulling off a miracle save early in the match.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: Newcastle were completely dominant, Perth were very lucky to win the match and can't rely on such profligacy from their opponents in the run to the finals.

    • Team & Ladder Ranking: Wellington Phoenix are 10th. 6W 6D 13L. 24 Points.
    • Form (Recent->Least Recent) & Last Result: LWLLD. 2-1 Loss, away against Western Sydney Wanderers.
    • Ladder Movement: The result matters not, Wellington are done. They can't even get out of last place even with a victory.
    • Keep Up The Good Work: Jeremy Brockie should ask for a release, he should be at a top 6 club not a bottom 4 club. He could quite amazingly win the Golden Boot despite Wellington finishing last.
    • Things They Could Have Done Better Last Week: I hope they picked a good travel agent for their end of season trip. They will need to forget about this disaster of a season.

Prediction: Glory to destroy a Wellington team not playing for anything but pride, but doing so a very long way from home. A one-sided Distance Derby. 3-0 Perth.
