  • Draw Approaches but FFA Silent on West Sydney

    mack

The draw is due for release on Tuesday the 19th but the New Sydney Club has yet to release any official information on the make up of the club.

There has been zero concrete information released by the club.

We still don't know who has signed with the club. Recent 'confirmations' by other media outlets have been nothing more than disguised speculation or attempts to insinuate unconfirmed reports and rumours as exclusives.

Very little has come to light in recent weeks.

There are still no colours or a shirt for the club. This despite the very small amount of choices that were offered, and the overwhelming majority preference for black and red.

There is still no name for the club.

We don't even know if the club are going to be West or Western.

    No logo.

There is no confirmation of where the club will play except for information that Parramatta Council has made a bid to help the new club establish itself in the Parramatta LGA. That in and of itself gives no indication as to if the club will play at Parramatta Stadium as that facility is owned by Venues NSW, a State Government organisation.

There are still no confirmed player signings.

There are no confirmed staff signings apart from Lyall Gorman, Ante Milicic and Tony Popovic, and only a handful of rumoured staff members. The club has also yet to advertise for certain key positions in the backroom office of the club. Edit - After posting I was informed that this was incorrect, and the club has likely appointed several back office staff members.

No membership packages have been released, nor has any information on what those packages might contain or what they might cost.

Worst of all, the club has already failed in it's promises to maintain contact and be open and transparent in it's dealings as it begins it's life. The new club's twitter account went silent for a period of 10 days between the 4th and 14th of June. Why wasn't it used to state what was being done, even if the details couldn't?

This black hole of information has cost the club and it's supporters a huge amount of momentum. The FFA must come out with information on the club in the next week or people will start to talk about the bid becoming another Rovers failure. It's time for the FFA to open the curtain. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be everything. It has to be something. The failure to release information next week would be a monumental failure by the FFA in respect to the promises and the various supporter forums earlier in the year.

What are you waiting for Lyall?

im not panicing just yet, though im getting increasingly frustrated.

even if they released a statement saying 'we are working on the legal issues relating to the name'. something to let us know.

if we still havnt heard an announcement (not an announcement that there will be an announcment), but a proper announcement by the end of next week, then i think we should start getting on twitter, facebook and sending emails to see what the go is.

Don't see the reason to complain at all. Everyone is so damn in-patient. Give it time, it's a tough ask to create a club from nothing within 5-6 months. Complaining to the FFA who have taken on the big task to give us a club out in Western Sydney isn't right.

we arnt pissed off, or should i say im not pissed off, that it is taking its time. im pissed off that they havnt told us anything, or when they do tell us, they tell us there will be an announcement, and then nothing, theres no announcment or anything.

anyway this all could look funny in 24 hours, if they announce something tomorrow, like some people think they will

Yeah I know man, but I still feel having a stab at the FFA isn't the right thing to do which is shown in this article. If you see this thread http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=72834&p=2) you notice people are feeling the same vibe, patience and let the FFA do their work.

your article has got it spot on.

this friday should be the deadline. if we are still dragging on about the name, colour, home ground etc. by this friday then something is going seriously wrong.

Bit of a downer when you put it like that (the article) :P

All in all if there are no announcements from the 'Club' this week, I think I will become very dispondent.

I think the silence has come to light and been highlighted more so this week because the official draw for next season is released in 2 days!!!

If the draw wasn't coming out, I don't think the impatience and worry would be at an all time high yet.

Other than looking unprofessional and being annoying, its not a massive deal if they announce the club a week after the draw and then just slot in our name and stadium after the fact.

In the long run we wont care and it will be forgotten.

My annoyance stems from the fact that we were given a solid date by Lyall (2-3 weeks), and since then have had nothing at all. Play semantic word games all you like, but when there is talk about looking to have things released in 2-3 weeks then you need to back that up. Otherwise say nothing.

I'm sure things will come together. Though the FFA must realize they're dealing with an eager fanbase burnt by the Rovers bid.

On another note, training starts on the 25th. So who the he'll is gonna take the field for the first session?

My sentiments exactly. The first rule of good customer relations is to EXCEED the customers expectation. That is, promise 3 weeks, deliver in 2 weeks. FFA, you are looking very tardy. We don't mind the delay,so to speak, if you would just keep us bloody informed. Aren't we the 'community club'. FFS!

BTW, those saying how difficult it is to build a Club in 6 odd months, well, didn't the a League start with similar time frames?

We hope training will start the 25th. Would it really surprise any of us if that date came and went?

If they continue to hold of announcements for one BIG one, what is to stop them say putting it back another week if Lucas neill decides he might want in put cant get a contract done in time. Will the just keep putting it back?

    Link to comment

Lucas can't leave his club until July. Shall we be waiting until then? Oh dear...

My hope would be IF he was coming back that they are in discussions now with an announcement on him in the first few days of July.

I agree with pretty much everything you say mack. Stand by my original thoughts also.

Matty, I think it's more the issue with, is this FFA's mindset. Treat us with contempt?

Dont worry guys, the advantage you have is you have supporters waiting to get onboard.

A couple of weeks wont hurt these guys.

Yeah I know. Its a concern of mine too, of course. I'm not comfortable with how things look at the moment.

I'm just trying to keep my toys in the pram and stay positive. I'm hoping this is the worst of it, and FFA get most other things right, at which point it'll be forgive and forget and "happy days, we have a club".

    Cautiously hopefull n all that

Just noticed the Smurfs have started the Unicorn gag on twitter now due to the silence from FFA.

Damn we gotta have that banner.

Still have no idea why we should embrace a sfcu forum in-joke that will have zero relevance once we play our first game.

Because it's funny. A Unicorn impaling a Smurf, come on. Hilarious!

plus I like the fact we'd own THEIR joke.

We have to do it. Would be so good. We are the Unicorns and they are the Smurfs. Kill it I say!

We (The Football Sack) have an awesome article that will be up tomorrow if nothing is announced. Stay tuned.

Owning the intended insult has worked for AU fans. Pissants is not considered an insult for Reds fans. I can highly recommend the path of taking an intended insult and throwing it back in the face of the issuer.
