  • FFA Vote on Name and Colours

    mack

Vote for new Sydney club name and colours.

Football fans can have a say in the name and colours to be chosen for the New Sydney Club representing Western Sydney in the Hyundai A-League for the 2012/13 season.

A public vote was launched today as the third stage of a community consultation process involving a large cross section of fans from all over the Western Sydney region.

So far the leading name contenders include Athletic, Wanderers, Strikers, Wolves and Rangers. Fans are also invited to suggest another name in this unique process.

The majority of those canvassed so far have asked for the colours Red, Black and White to be the basis of the team’s colours with three combinations of these also up for vote.

Fans are invited to lodge their preferences at www.footballaustralia.com.au/vote.

From inception, an undertaking was made to ensure community engagement is at core of the new club with a process taking place over the past three weeks seeing more than 1,000 fans have had their say at seven community forums in Mt Pritchard, Parramatta, Rooty Hill, Penrith, Castle Hill, Campbelltown and Bankstown.

Over 4,000 fans have already completed an online survey on the culture, values, name, colours, playing style, personnel and preferred home ground of the new club.

The forums and the online survey have shown a clear preference for the club’s name to include the geographical reference of West or Western.

I've established that there are no safeguards in place to prevent multiple voting. :vava:

Then I suggest we all vote more than once ...

just thinking, if we choose red/white/black, would the red/black be the dominant colours because there is no mention of it and on the picture uploaded on their facebook page, its written as white/black/red. my concern is that i vote red/white/black and we end up getting black and white shirts with red detailings

That is why I voted only Red and Black Wilson ... you would have to use the blank field to stipulate how you want those colours arranged. I just voted as above and used the free space to talk about the 1880 idea.

I'd suggest that the FFA would delete any additional vote from an IP address.

Just happy that we will have a traditonal name with any one of red, black and white as colours. And West Sydney will be in the name. I'm at ease now :good:

yeah im really happy that either west or western will be in the name.

as for the colours i could live with any of the options, though i would perfer red and black. even if it does become black and white i wouldnt really mind.

however the name has me a bit worried. i perfer wanderers, though if its athletic i could live with that. if its rangers, thats pushing a bit for me. if its strikers or wolves i will be massively disapointed.

Looking good. I like the voting options.

Either way, I think the name and colours will be an acceptable outcome.

should have to put in your e-mail, so that youcan only vote once. here on the australian football FB pagehttp://www.facebook.com/AussieFootball , they have a poll and Athletic is in the lead.

What is the genesis of the name athletic?

I mean, when clubs have called themselves that in the past is it because they are more than a football club alone? sort of like sporting club?

Seems maybe Oldham are athletic because they played at an athletic ground but not sure about the others...

i don't mind it but it strikes me that it doesn't mean a lot.

The Sydney FC boys are trying to spoil the party and are attempting to hijack the poll. Look at their western Sydney thread on their website:

They are enlisting other IP addresses and are encouraging everyone to vote black/white and strikers.

i hope in the first game we play them, we smash them 5-0, ill make sure they never live that down :)

Nice idea. And we should also let Bozza know the results of the duplicate poll we have here.

This is another example of Sydney FC's pathetic jealously and entitlement complex.

Know I realy know why I've always hated SFC, this is the same thing that must of happened at Heart. I've also heard that SFC fans aren't the only ones, mariners also. they should just take note of this forum.

If you believe it an issue bring the matter to the attention of Lyall Gorman and or FFA .

Whilst they can't deny people natural justice and the right to a democratic vote, should the the survey throw up an odd result or unusual trends occur they may be able to break down the results into two segments.

    1) The views of those persons who have registered an interest in WSFC and completed the survey via email alert ie: Fan Forum attendees and the genuinely interested and

    2) Those who have completed the survey by directly clicking on the link from the FFA site ie: potential spoliers

I'd be interested in the variations that may be occuring from these two groups of respondents.

Thats cute, they are trying to hijack the vote. Good luck to them and I hope they enjoy it. #fail

    • When did we hit it to a winger and cross? We played it backwards and sideways anywhere but forward on the few occasions we did get the ball forward Sotirio ran it out for a goal kick. Younis changed the game as he actually can play football
    • Ninkovic was a game changer  We let City have the midfield and I’ve seen that sort of structure before with the Matilda’s. Basically just stack the front line and then hit it to a winger to cross. It works if you have players like Catley, Foord, Fowler, Kerr, etc. Doesn’t work too well with our players. once Ninkovic came on and we actually played it through the middle, we got a lot more dangerous
