    mack

NRMA Insurance have been unveiled as the naming rights and major sponsor of the Western Sydney Wanderers FC for their inaugural Hyundai A-League season.

The three-year partnership with one of Australia’s leading Insurance companies provides a firm foundation for Australia’s newest, oldest professional football club.

The Western Sydney Wanderers FC Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman said that the partnership with NRMA Insurance is a perfect fit for the club. “NRMA Insurance has such a distinguished history and proud association with Western Sydney. To secure this blue-chip company as our first Naming Rights and Major Sponsor is a huge coup for this club. They can see the huge potential for success in this football club and are closely aligned with us on the grass roots and community foundations that the Wanderers will be built upon. This is a landmark moment for the Western Sydney community.â€

Chief Executive Officer of NRMA Insurance Andy Cornish made the historic announcement at Parramatta Stadium. “NRMA Insurance is hugely excited about the prospects of the Western Sydney Wanderers. We have waited some time for the right local sport partnership so it’s with great pleasure that we announce our role as major sponsor of the Western Sydney Wanderers FC. The season is just around the corner and everyone is looking forward to working alongside a club that is bursting with potential.†Cornish added.

Naming rights? If they cn change the name or add nrma on to it, then its ****ed.

It'll just mean we'll be referred to as the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers in press releases and stuff like that occasionally, no big deal really.

    It happens all the time..

Newcastle Jets have the same deal with Hunter Ports. They get called "Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets" in their press conferences.

The "NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers" will only get used in official press statements and conferences. Everyone who isn't getting paid will just call them Wanderers or Western Sydney. I'm never going to call them "NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers" on this site for example. Commentators will still call the club West Sydney or Wanderers.

I'm certain that this sponsorship is what is enabling the club to avoid playing at ANZ.

Just keep calling the club wanderers or western sydney, it's not that much of an issue for me.

This, and even when it does happen it'll be said once at the start of an article or press release and then it'll probably just be Wanderers thereafter.

Yeah no biggie. As said in other threads, all the NRL teams are the same but no one even knows about it.

If they call us, The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers at the stadium or on the scoreboard that is f***ed up.

That'd either be one big scoreboard, or very small print....

its not ideal but its not something i am going to get upset about, plus they get more money and that is important, no one is going to call them the NRMA insurance western sydney wanderers football club so doesnt make much difference

NRMA are probably sponsoring us enough so we don't have to play some games at ANZ to gain financially so as far as I'm concerned they can plug NRMA as much as possible, even at games.

Yeah I think the reason for the whole naming rights thing is some extra money for the club to make up for not going to ANZ. In which case I'm happy with that, a small price to pay for keeping all our home games at Parramatta

Good to keep the sponsors happy, not a problem for me, as long as the club is viable long term. Go the Wanderers!

NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers FC sounds like a bit much. Perhaps they should have chosen NRMA Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

It's the biggest main sponsorship in the league. MV had Adecco + EnergyWatch as main sponsors and their total was bigger, but EnergyWatch went bankrupt.
