  • Safe Standing For Parramatta Stadium

    WestSydneyFootball.com Exclusive

Parramatta Stadium will be upgraded by 2,400 seats as well as being set to become the first major stadium in Australia to be upgraded with European style safe standing. An improvement to entry gates into the North Terrace is also included in the upgrade.

Sources confirmed that the original Parramatta Stadium master plan is still being followed. However, the planned upgrade to the South Terrace will not go forward at this stage due to increased costs over initial estimates to other aspects of the upgrade. It is my understanding that an upgrade to the training field that was requested by the Parramatta Eels may also not be going ahead for the same reason.

The Wanderers have also not changed their contract with Parramatta Stadium, and the club is still committed to playing all 13 home games there next season. It is not yet known if Parramatta will host two derby matches there as the FFA has yet to release the draw.

No further funding has been allocated to Parramatta Stadium by any level of Government. As such there is no information on a time frame for additional aspects of the master plan upgrades to be undertaken.

What a waste of money this is. Due to the increased police presents and the fact that the casuals feel this has affected the atmosphere, we will be lucky to get 10,000 people to a game next season. So many new comers to football, came for the atmosphere alone. I wouldn't be surprised if memberships drop dramatically next year. Feel sorry for the new owners

We may sell the same or more memberships next season, the issue is getting the members to turn up week in week out. I know of people who have memberships but have only come to maybe 5 home games all season. And if they have a family pass, that's 4 empty seats because dad has to work or whatever. The buy back scheme needs to be in place next year so those empty seats can be filled come game day. There was 12,000 at the game yesterday so that means there was 4000 members who had other priorities. The RBB looked and felt smaller in numbers and I don't think the attitude towards security and police is helping. We need to create an understanding relationship between the RBB and the security/police and then they may give more space. But then again, what the fk would I know right?

Emails have been sent, phone calls have been made, letters posted and still the club chooses to impose rules rather than make agreements with the RBB. There is currently no deal in place so the security/police are making rules up as they go, absolute power of the "ban" allows this. This gives the appearance of an unruly mob looking to punch on with seccies, when in fact the opposite is true. Security/police are simply attacking anything that offends them. So when the confused member questions why he is being evicted, he appears as just another defiant troublemaker.

To date the only concrete rule aimed specicifaclly at the active section is "flare = -3 points". A flare hasn't been seen at a league game since. Formal communication resulting in instant application. Much like terrace upgrades which at the moment can only be speculated on, till formal communication comes from stadium officials.

    Where is that single seat?

(I haven't looked through the thread if it has been posted).

I think back of 57, I'm pretty sure Mack took this photo though so he will know

Just get the rail seats in the northern terrace ready for next season, increase RBB membership, upgrade facilities and a bigger roof and that's fine for me. We don't need a 25-30k venue right now.

    Fair enough.

    Anyone actually used it?

Every time I've seen it, it has been locked in the upright position.

So has it been confirmed whether or not they can be unlocked during half time breaks?

If not lets try next home game, we might get tasared and cavity searched afterwards though....

There is no way they will be unlocked at half-time, it's just not feasable

if Rail seats get installed etc, they'd stay in locked position for most of the season (until NRL stars).

No need to unlock them in between games (no events there IMO) and they wont unlock them at Half time.

good thing about them being locked is the seats shouldnt be broken and have to be replaced unlike a certain main event in the city last year :ninja:

Ahh, I thought you might be able to adjust them by 'clicking' them in to the seating position. I'm clueless on the topic, clearly

on an unrelated note, check that out.

No matter how long I watch it she still doesn't succeed in undoing the ties on the side.  ;)

Given the latest police presence nowhere is safe to stand in Maximum Security Pirtek stadium.

If someone from Silverwater Jail tries to wscape or does some serious f ucked up sh*t they get sent to Pirtek.

    Safe standing seats ftw!

Lets hope its all the way behind the goal, that way will force out ppl that want to sit into the grandstand. Too many seated soldiers in the Northern Terrace.

The only downside now will be the ones who normally sit, will now stand with arms folded and mumble & grunt their displeasure.

    Tell me you're not serious.

I'm not serious, just my gut feeling

Have seen a few stadiums in europe with that set up, 1 or 2 bays with safe standing

I dont know if anyone has the whole active end as safe standing... not sure about Dortmund

hope not got enough phlogs in the outside bays as it is, if this is the case they will all just flock on the outer bays. Bay 55,56,57 should just be RBB like last season, the rest semi active, there's just not enough members to fill up the rest of the NT who actually want to get involved, but hopefully i'm proven wrong.

atm i wouldn't be picky with your bay, flogs = better then empty seats.

Also in every flog there is a potential active
