Honestly if we are smart we get on the plane ASAP after the first leg at home so that our players can have 5-6 Days to get acclimatized to the environment giving us a fighting chance!

Just send the boys down to Port Kembla for a few days, that should get them acclimatized to smog in time for the trip to China in their summer.

Players have the lungs of an 80 year old chain smoker after a summer game in China.

I know all about these things being a smoggie  :xnod:

were in the top 8 teams of all asia, we've gone this far even though lots of ppl including myself didn't think we would get out of the group stages.

Lets make sure we welcome them to Wanderland :woah:

PS will help also if we get some info and find out where their players will be staying in Sydney, just like we found out Sanfreece was staying at the novotel  :ninja:

does anyone know if we can use poljak in the next round or any new players or only the original squad that he announced at the beginning of the acl minus all the players we lost?

We have to name the squad of players that we will use in the knock out stage by July 19.

Pencil in Poljak and Larocca then, now Popa will need to sign up 1 Asian and one more foreigner(hopefully 2 midfielders) before July 19th. If not they will run a train through midfield/Trifiro.

No disrespect to my Chinese brothers but if us from Western Sydney lose to a Chinese team we are ****.. In high school my Chinese homies were always playing black jack or throwing dollar coins against the wall while the rest of the wogs and handful of Aussies played football. :))

But then while you and your Cro bros were wanking over whoevers ethic group is better the Asians were studying and working...and made so much money they could not only make the richest football team in Asia but also have enough needless spare change that they could buy us in a packet with our mums.

    However!

We're phucking nutcases and the best underdogs ever and I know that the quintessential Westie Centrelink scum will kick Bruce Lee's arse in the quarter finals and shock all of Asia. Im so keen for this one!

Victory won by getting up in their faces, squeezing central midfield and playing on their slow full backs. All things that wsw pretty much specialise in. We're a big chance.

You know there are Chinese brothers from Western Sydney too :)

    ACL 2013 winners

ended up 4th in the 2013 fifa world club cup defeating the African champions on the way

    coached by Marcelo Lippi

won their Super League for the past 3 years in a row

their new recruit Diamanti who was transfered for 6.9 million euros from Bologna ran a muck against Victory in the second half of their 4-2 victory.

Guangzhou Evergrande is the Man City/PSG of Asia, but we are Western Sydney Wanderers, and we have reached this far on our first journey and now we want to go all the way, and we are not going to make it easy for any team that we come up against!

Its going to be so big if we beat them in a two-leg competition, so big indeed! If we do win, I propose to name my future son either Tony or after the goalscorer's name. Let's hope Appiah doesn't give us that advatage.

They have Lippi and millions of dollars. We have our pride!

Pehaps we should tell them where an Italian and millions of dollars got ESFC over the past couple of seasons.

Long way ahead but if we make the final the 2nd leg will be in West Asia :(

I thought they were going to do a draw for how the final works out when the two teams are known? That was what I thought I heard them day at the QF draw?

If it is 2nd leg away then we would just have to have a massive welcome home party wouldn't we.

Still the little matter for last years champions to dispose of yet anyway.

This is pretty much our ACL final. If we can knock over the reigning champions with our freshly rebuild squad then we can beat any of the remaining teams. Win this round and we win the whole thing.

This kind of puts things in perspective. We're flogged off to four guys for $10m, meanwhile Alibaba pony up $192m (USD) for 50% of Evergrande. In a different league... in more ways than one!

China the sleeping giant of football. Watch this space.

No doubt about that. All they need is improve in every department and they'll match and overtake MLS in a blink of an eye.

I'm trying to work out how we have gone financially so far with our participation in the ACL.

    Group stage.  3 travel subsidies @ $30k + 4 win payments of $40k = $250k.

    Rd of 16.        1 travel subsidy @ $40k + win payment of $50k = $90k.

    Sponsorship.  Visy = ???

    Attendance.   11,212 + 9,292 + 11,099 + 10,639 = 42,242 @ say $12 = $507k

Total to date.  $847k + Visy sponsorship.

Still to come.  Qtr Final. 1 travel subsidy @ $50k

With gate takings to come for the Evergrande game the total should be around $1m plus prize money if we win plus the Visy sponsorship.

I'm thinking we ought to be making a profit out of this.  Adelaide United did last time they played in the ACL.
