As mentioned in the other thread, we can deal with Evergrande  :woah:  :woah:  :woah:  :woah:

We just need a team lol

I think it is good we are at home first as it will help our new boys being in front of of us first game before going on travels.

Warm up games / FFA Cup takes on added importance this year. New season already not far away

**** me dead. 1/3 odds and we get the worst option. Still....

Melbourne showed they are beatable on our soil. We need to ******* TAKE IT TO THEM in that first leg. Really make sure we go into the second with a lead. Which is entirely possible. If we don't take a lead to china we're rooted. But if we take a lead there anything is possible...

Sometimes it can help playing at home dirst when you're the underdog. A nervous first leg in China and it would be all over. On the other hand, a home win or even a low scoring draw puts the pressure on them in the second leg.

Exactly, if the first leg finished 0-0 that would put pressure on them.

Of course the game is to avoid an away goal.

I think if the first game had been away with a newish team we could have been turned over.  I usually prefer 2nd legs at home also...but it is what it is and we can still do it.

I am travelling Europe in August (get back on the 28th!!)- will have the ipad handy and can hopefully find a decent wifi spot and a good stream for the first game, but I am guessing I will be on the plane during the second game. If only I could reschedule and fly from Italy to China to watch!

No. The competition is split until the final.

    It is?

I'm pretty sure I heard that Windsor guy say that the winner of say QF1 plays the winner of QF3?

Keen to see their active support at wanderland.

Free tickets given to the Chinese embassy who then dish them out to make sure they get maximum attendance.

    I'll bet money on it.

To be the best, you must beat the best.

Now I must consider if I should do an away trip and visit some family...

The assignment will be that much harder if we don't bring in our new creative core in the next month. It's going be difficult enough getting the squad primed in the off season for the 1st leg Aug 20th, without having to integrate five new players, especially those replacing Ono, Hersi, Mooy, Polenz.  It took 6 weeks+ to integrate Spiranovic and bring him up to pace. Apologies for a pessimistic view, but I can't think of any team who have lost so many key players in one hit, instantly replaced them and maintained, never mind bettered, its previous level of success.

So if we progress we will play FC Seoul/Pohang Steelers away on 17 September and home on 1 October.

Wow talk about taking the hard road to glory but we might do it and if we can beat em we deserve to go all the way.

There away support should be big and we need to drown them out then the hard part will be trying to win away.

    • Given the way the defender just stopped and let him walk it in I wouldn't be surprised if there were are suspicious number of bets on a 4-0 result.
    • Thats right... its become about money .... Only NSW and even then limited has worked hard at increasing there numbers... Vics are back on board and thats good ... The conflict seems to be about funding and the number of officials involved in managing those returning... The states don't want to spend revenue on increasing the number of hotels / motels that can be used nor allocate the personal required to manage any increase ... the Feds appear to want the states to pick up the tab for increasing weekly numbers... I read a opinion piece the other day, suggesting ways of reducing the costs and it essentially involved doing rapid testing and questions, with the view of being able to release a number of people in a week ... and hold others for two weeks... however it could be impossible to sell to the general public given the two large outbreaks have been with broader break downs, first in NSW and then VIC...
