  • Wanderers To Play At Olympic Park

    mack

The Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed playing matches at Sydney Olympic Park during the demolition and rebuilding of Parramatta Stadium.

While their home stadium is being rebuilt, the Wanderers have confirmed they will play approximately 8 matches at Spotless Stadium, with 4 matches at ANZ Stadium including both Sydney Derby matches. It is likely that matches against Melbourne Victory will be the other games to be played at ANZ, although it may include a match against NSW rivals in the Central Coast Mariners & Newcastle Jets.

The move will allow a much greater number of ticketed memberships to be sold, and also beckons a record breaking crowd for an A-League match with an expected Sydney Derby crowd over 55,000 patrons. The ANZ Stadium Twitter account has posted that the 2016/17 A-League season will be kicked off with a Sydney Derby match.

Parramatta Stadium is expected to take three Wanderers seasons to be built, with the new stadium opening sometime in 2019.

Just a curious observation, taking the top level at ANZ has pros and cons.
Cons,The Stadium had concerns on us jumping up there I could only imagine what will happen with them and the poznan.

Also its around 2100 and No wheel chair access and a decent set of steps to get up there.

The Cove did it for a Perth game at ANZ a couple of years back. Sounded not too bad. But, they were SOOOOO far away. Maybe have the core, RBB members up there, and the casual members down the bottom?

Pretty standard stuff from all the people complaining online that the club have made the wrong decision. Lots of sooking but never offering an alternative. If they did try to offer an alternative they'd find that there aren't really any better options. This forum went through that whole process months ago and that's why we don't have people raging on here.

The Perth game, we weren't upstairs of ANZ . I don't know how many seats you have in the RBB but I would assume it being bigger then 2100 ?

The North end is about 2500 I think? Mind you, it is (supposedly) undersold anyway.

Western Sydney residents should be totally supportive of the plan to refurbish ANZ. :good:

Surely Allianz doesn't need to be re-built & can be suitably refurbished for around 500m.

    That actually looks pretty cool

Can it be ready for our game against Arsenal next July

So if Pirtek and ANZ are being redone at the same time .... we play out of Jensen Park?

It will end up nothing like that and cost twice as much.

Provided the NSW Government commit to doing the upgrade at ANZ before spending a $ at Allianz, I'll be a happy man.

Don't be ******* ridiculous. The NSW state government has never blotched an infrastructure project.

    Ever.

Even better, that's the stadiums effort at lobbying for funds. I'm sure they asked the artist that imagined that up to be as realistic as possible ;) Edited by matty

The club did the survey for a reason, so that our voices are heard.

This is the result of the survey, this is what most people have voted for, this is the best outcome while the new stadium is being built.

The club have done well, we could not possibly ask for more...

When only 3,000 out of 18,000 members did the survey, they've only got themselves to blame that there voices weren't heard :nono:

Stupid Prydz whats wrong with you being an idiot on facebook posting your comment is where you get heard! It changes the world

Also FB takes 20 seconds and you feel like a hero

This is what I mentioned before  :nono: And there are people who agree with him too!

I wonder how these plans can be "revealed", considering they were announced 2 years ago?

I think we have seen the last ever derby at parramatta stadium. The suits will seek to keep it at ANZ forever. Good luck convincing the suits to move it to the new parra stadium in 3 years time

    ANZ security are ***** too.

They have absolutely no idea about active support. I spent the whole first half of the Asian Cup final playing musical chairs because families who disregarded the category ACTIVE FANS and bought in their anyway, rocked up on kick off demanding to SIT in their exact seats. This is my only concern with playing there because they need some serious education on how it works.

Reality is if they're going to fill the stadium at the derby then they will only be able to do so with randoms who aren't familiar with the aleague. My biggest fear is that people will just see the price of active and buy in there with no regard for the category and we will have to go through the same **** yet again. I still have nightmares.

Yeah the Asian Cup final was a joke.

But maybe we can edumacate them and they won't be so frickin clueless for Socceroos games.

This is another reason that the derby should NOT be the first game. We need time for security to understand what is going on. They see a few esfc fans having a go at us and us singing and yelling back and who knows what might happen.

This Derby is going to be epic.

then the next ones are going to be ****ed for a while, because they just don't get active support.

Reading through the FAQ, there is no mention of how to link memberships together. Im sure there are a huge percentage of people, probably the majority, that sit together but are on separate membership accounts. It will be a mess if you have to wait for the first allocations and then request a change just to seat people together.

I've emailed the membership team to see what they are planning.

    • Pep Guardiola: "I'm going to defend you until the last day of our lives in the press". Rudan: Runs onto the field at full-time to berate an attacker for a goal coughed up by the two fullbacks being lazy, then slates him in a post-game interview and the press conference.  Sure, he apologised for "singling him out", did he apologise for singling out the wrong player to start with? The Mariners & Nix finished 5th & 6th in 21/22 when Rudan took over. Rudan's second year we finished 4th then lost to the smurfs in Round 1 while the Mariners won the Grand Final. 3rd year, CCM are the favourites for the Premiership, the Nix have a chance if CCM drop points, and we're back in 6th with a game tomorrow against a team who beat us 7-0 earlier in the season that if we lose we're out of the finals spots, and even if we made it, we're probably just going to lose to Victory in Week 1. I'm so over this ****. Rudan has had three years and done **** all to improve things, he's not done well enough to add all this pointless drama and bullshit.
    • Does he miss the next match?
    • Couldn't they just play their NPL team? it would have been unlikely ADL would have beaten them as well
