Same here. I put Athletic as the second option. Can't go past majority and a name that sounds really well with the word West/Western.

West Sydney Lions? West Sydney Cosmos? West Sydney All-Stars?

Where the **** did these suggestions come from? I thought the FFA were at least attempting to listen to us and not have those Americanised, forced names on the team.

They haven't got a clue i selected 1.Athletic 2.Wanderers and added Revolution as a 3rd the rest i left blank as there not traditional names other then sporting or rangers.

PFC is just ridiculous ( Peoples Football Club ) ... they were having a big old laugh at that one on the SFC forums yesterday .... it is like the People Republic of Football! I thought it was bizzare to be frank ...

Maybe they have included a host of crap name so we all just pick Wanderers.

I'm thinking that also. They'll have a huge backlash against all the **** names so its in their face that people don't want that Americanised crap.

The only animal name that comes close to being a goer for me is the Lions, and its still not that ******* close. First of all, there aren't any lions in WS. Second of all, 'Roar' is the sound a lion makes.

And isn't there a Lions in AFL?

Lions next to Roar ... in the A-League - is anyone even awake at the FFA? Some of those names were troll like - I still think Peoples Football Club is a suggestion from a crack head. ( No offence to crack heads )

I still think they put those crap names in there just so they get no votes at all and so they can see the majority swing to a handful of names.

They put those crap names in multiple questions in the survey in an attempt to weaken your resolve.

I could only find 3 naming options that were worthy of my support.

If there are 119,000 registered players in our catchment area, how have they determined which 40,000 are asked to complete the survey.

I think they can link the email address used when you registered as a player to the email address you used to register your interest in the club. They can eliminate the duplications that way and go some way in eliminating people who complete multiple surveys.

Still a bit crappy though, this whole process.

Has anyone ever considered not having the "Sydney" word at all? What about Parramatta United FC or something like that? I don't live in Penrith but I follow Penrith Panthers in the NRL becasue they are geographically the closest team to me. It would be good if they could get it across that Parramatta is the base but the team really does represent everyone west of the Anzac Bridge. Or at least west of Five Dock. In saying all that, it's easy to see the two melbourne teams are different. But thats because of their stupid second names. And thats what I personally would like to avoid.

Thoughts?

I feel trying differentiate with Sydney FC is difficult whilst still having 'Sydney' in the name. At the end of the day though, I'll be there.

Not having Sydney has been debated heavily ... search through the threads already on these topics. Nobody is going to want Parra F.C ... you make it Parra and you get all the other suburbs up in arms as to why it shouldn't be them. West covers everybody, keeps mother happy and alienates no-one ...

No worries mate, wasn't having a chip at you either - there has been a lot of discussion on these elements already and there does seem to be a very strong consensus forming from both here and the Forum meetings members have attended. What the majority seem to want so far ...
