    The Western Sydney Wanderers & Football Federation Australia have confirmed the sale of the club to a consortium headed by Pirtek CEO Paul Lederer.

     

    The club, which has been under the ownership of the FFA since it began, will be turned over to the consortium on the 30th of June.

     

    The reported cost is $10 million, lower than the originally estimated 15 and then 12 million figures. This likely is a result of the consortium driving a hard bargain with the FFA, knowing the FFA had to get the asset off their hands to avoid long-term governments implications.

     

    The other three members of the consortium are Jefferson Chang, Glenn Duncan & David Slade, each respected businessmen with an interest in the sport. Lederer has been a director of the club prior to the purchase, and he spoke about the acquisition.

     

    “The spirit of this club comes from the members, fans and the people of Western Sydney. Nothing will change in that regard. I have been a director of the club for the past two years and I’ve had the privilege to play a part and see first-hand what makes this club so special. The consortium has responsibility to ensure the Wanderers have a sound financial base and a strong administration so the club can continue to grow and be successful on and off the field.â€

    First season he was everywhere, second season with this membership bulls**t and security he's been too quiet for me. I also think the bottom line suffered as a result. If the place was rocking all year with a decent ticketing system and satisfied fans selling their firstborns to be a part of the action home and away, the club would've sold for a fair bit more. Which would've seen him even more well off which intensifies my bewilderment.

If the place was rocking all year with a decent ticketing system and satisfied fans selling their firstborns to be a part of the action home and away, the club would've sold for a fair bit more. Which would've seen him even more well off which intensifies my bewilderment.

    Maybe it wad a bit of complacency knowing they had already sold over 16,000 memberships so money in the bank.

    Football Federation Australia confirms sale of Western Sydney Wanderers is complete

    Football Federation Australia (FFA) has confirmed that the sale of the A-League licence for the Western Sydney Wanderers club is complete.

    The Wanderers licence is now held by a business consortium that includes Primo Group CEO Paul Lederer, Sabre Sports United director Jefferson Cheng, Pirtek director and head of international business, Glenn Duncan, and David Slade, a partner in the Australian branch of the UK retail chain Topshop-Topman.

    Lederer assumes the role of chairman of the club with John Tsatsimas the CEO.

    The Wanderers, A-League grand final runners-up in their opening two seasons, had been controlled and run by the FFA since inception.

    "Today marks a new chapter in the short, but very successful, history of Western Sydney Wanderers FC," said FFA CEO David Gallop.

    "Following the successful completion of the sale, we look forward to working with the club for the upcoming A-League season and for the seasons to follow."

      I think the handball red was the right call. He might have gotten away with playing advantage (although that would have been exceptionally controversial and still might have got called back by VAR anyway) if the player on the ball hadn't shined it to the keeper. But it was a foul under the laws and it prevented the attacker's cut back to have a 1 on 1 with the keeper, and since it wasn't the tackle itself that caused the foul he didn't get the protection of the "attempt at making a football challenge" reduction to a yellow.
