  • Western Sydney Wanderers! FFA Leak Club Name!

    moxey25

FFA leak the New Sydney Club Name - Western Sydney Wanderers.

Football Federation Australia released the name for the new sydney club. The name, Western Sydney Wanderers, was selected after a long process involving multiple supporter forums, online surveys and back office marketing and trademark processes. The FFA website today accidentally leaked the name of the new club in a season preview document that was swiftly removed from the internet.

The document clearly states Western Sydney Wanderers in their title for the Sydney Derby preview.

This name has long been the preferred name for the club, ever since the first fan forum was launched at Mounties this name has been number 1 with a bullet. Having West or Western in the name itself is another popular opinion and having one or the other instead of neither will make a large majority happy.

While it has taken a lot longer than many expected for the name to be released, relief at the name being one of the major favourites was expressed across Sydney. While not everyone loves the name, it is believed the majority of fans will take to the name and be happy with it.

its going to be a big wasted opportunity if we dont even have jerseys for the fans for round 1. i guess we'll be seeing man utd, arsenal, ac milan, barca fans etc. in their euro kits

if this is the case, ill be wearing my Red & Black Flano :)

although im hoping we have Merchandise we can purchase before Game 1 :)

Its no big deal if people wear Euro kits to HAL games, I see it all the time at AU games, people wearing Liverpool Red or ManYoo Red, sometimes not even Red, one twat turned up in Chelski Torres shirt days after that deal! I wish they’d wear AU Red, but at least they are at the games and wearing the right colours(mostly) :) At one stage under the reebok deal it was far cheaper to buy a foreign kit online with all the badges and a player name from an O/S website and have it delivered to Oz than to buy a HAL kit. Things are a little better now and I see a lot more AU kits around Hindmarsh/Adelaide than before. Walking down the street in my home shirt, people are always asking me how the Reds are doing. Its amazing how much the brand awareness has built in only 7 years of HAL football and 10 years of United. At local SA Premier League clubs I see a lot more juniors wearing United kits to training than ever before.

Fink is a **** head. simple.

as soon as i saw the title i knew that he was going to mention tanners bid, and no suprise. little does he say that tanner didnt want west or western in the name and wanted to play ALL games at ANZ.

So we have a Fink article and now a link to ADMIN: Please do not post links to this site.. This thread is playing with fire...

Interesting discussion on multi-sport discussion page the roar (lots of AFL, NRL, Union types there - be wary of the occasional anti-sokkah vibe)

ADMIN: Please do not post links to this site..c...osed-represent/

Admin Hat - There's another 'first and last'. Website That Shall Not Be Posted But Shares Its Name With The Brisbane A-League Team don't like their content being passed around for some reason. While in this case it's just a link, I'm just reminding people they don't like it. So in the future just refer to the site if they have an article.

Whats with that, you think they'd want hits?

Guess I'll steer clear in future

    Yeah, it's really odd.

Its because 442 forums were linking to it all the time and ripping the **** into it. Then their admin cried to KA over it so we banned their **** articles at 442. No loss anyway.

(events are inspired and may not reflect what really happened - I can't remember the specifics, but it was something like that)

edit: can we please have $hit uncensored! lol

+1 to having $hit uncensored please.

I only indicated the link to the roar. The problem they had was 442 posters cut copy pasting articles holus bolus onto 442 thereby denying the roar their hits.

Be careful on the roar, its full of code warrior zealots, particularly a strain of pro-ALF clowns from Victoria who really hate it when you point out any flaws in their "great Australian game *gags*"

I agree, **** is a great word to use on the forum.

I wrote on article for the roar, don't mind them! They are very QLD and Brisbane Roar though obviously, which I don't like :P

-1 to that suggestion. I prefer a place thats as accessible to everyone as possible. Theres ways around it anyway if you really need to say it. Just my 2c

we are in a sad sad world if people get offended by the word $hit

    Link to comment

I dont think its about offense mltezr, maybe just a preference. Personally I could listen to it all day without batting an eyelid but I'd prefer this not become a forum with crudeness plastered all over. Like I said it makes the place less accessable to younger people or just the more conservative.

I think we are in a sad sad world if people can't have a conversation free of expletives.

Anyway, just my 2c, I won't be asking anyone to stop swearing at all, just voicing my appreciation of the censor being there....

Back on topic: the season preview with the leak in it is horribly written anyway.

    Link to comment

I just don't think swearing is necessary in an online forum. I don't see the point. I find that people see it as unwelcoming and as a collective it can make our group look like idiots who can't put a point across in a logical fashion. I think the overly aggressive and cliquey nature of the Cove Forum discussion is the reason why people are leaving that site in droves. I don't want that to happen here.

well atleast in this thread we all know what were talking about if we see **** or 4 dots.

back on topic, i am hoping that a contract with a brand will also be announced and the players who are signed up will be in club polos. probably too wishful

Only 28 hours now until the bitching can begin. I guarantee come Tuesday morning there'll be an Opinion piece on The Roar decribing just how HAL Soccer will fail in Western Sydney:( I urge all here to give serious consideration to jumping on that article and refuting whatever sokkah-bashing is taking place.

Oh moxey you're killing me! And I like it lol

haha just wait and see my friend ;)

    What will be announced:

    1. Name

    2. Colours

    4. Venue

    5. Players

    I can't say number 3.

as expected. We already know about 1 and 2 and 3 but confirmation is always good, make sure they confirm that the derby is at Parra. Players is kind of known, Bridge, Mooy, Topor-Stanley and Beauchamp are 100% you would think.

Yeah probably, just ignore these pointless articles, they mean nothing. Just trying to give the A-League more negative exposure.

moxey, I can't ignore them. I have a very boring job and it keeps me amused to be a code warrior during my workhours, sticking up for my preferred sport:) forza football!! - If we don't stick up for our game who will?

Fair enough, don't think we need to stick up for it though. Let the small-minded and petty please themselves
