Description: Mark Bridge revitalised his career after being used sparingly in his final years at Sydney FC with his consistency at the highest level stopping him from achieving his potential. After a season under Tony Popovic Bridge gained a new sense of professionalism, winning the club golden boot award in 2012/13 and earning a 3 year extension to his contract. He left the club for a lucrative contract in Thailand, but returned to Australia shortly after, re-joining the Wanderers on a 2 year contract. In 2017/18 Bridge finished the 2nd highest scorer but his 5 goal output had a minimal impact on the Wanderers fortunes and he began to look off the pace at the end of the season. He was injured for almost the entire 2018/19 season and subsequently retired from professional football.

He looked ok playing wide on the left in the 2nd half yesterday, but then again, our centre backs were playing wall passes against the hapless Jets.

On the left is his best position, he's not a number 10 or an out and out striker.

he seemed to show that well when we reverted to 4-3-3 on the weekend

saw him enjoying some chicken wings at hooters about a month ago. good bloke.

edit: I cannot confirm nor deny that he was ACTUALLY eating chicken wings, but I was and they (as well as the breasts on offer) were both awesome.

There was one moment in the first half on Saturday where he picked up the ball just inside our half, did this little dummy that completely took 2 Mariners players out of the game and opened up the field for him. Hit a decent pass out to Haliti on the right but unfortunately because of the wet pitch it sped up and skidded out as soon as it hit the ground. But it was that one moment that's convinced me to give him some time.

Like others have mentioned as well, would like to see him given some time out wide, which he no doubt will once Ono is starting.

As long as he scores the winner against SydFC, I'll love him.

mark bridge showing the soft touch of his passing right there.......

This is the pic of him about to shot in the 2nd half.

His body positioning is out of shape and the placement of his left foot leaves a lot to be desired.

From that overstretched position he should have opened his body up and side footed or curled the the ball into the left hand corner.

WSW 1 - 0 GAME OVER.

He's gunna score twice in the Round 3 Derby, once with his noggin and a left footed screamer of a volley, that will bring the house down.

Anyone ever seen him smile?

I had a short chat with him at the squad launch last Thursday. He was telling me about the way the players have to put extra money toward their end of season trip every time their photo is in the paper. He was smiling and having a laugh then so maybe he just doesn't like talking to the media. :pardon:

Perhaps.

When he was a springwood with tarek he looked bored, on Thursday in the prk he looked like he wanted to be somewhere else, and again on Thursday night walking the catwalk.

Maybe he plays a lot of poker?!?

Still, would be good if he can prove his doubters wrong.

He looked great in pre season, he worked hard and was more enthusiastic than I've ever seen him... What's happened since the season started???

I don't understand :(

Gotta say, while he has pretty good ball control, usually, and can beat players, absolute hog and shoots unnecessarily. i understand hes stressing and has no confidence due to his inability to score goals but he needs to change his game if he's hoping to change his scoring record. personally i reckon its about time we used Gibbs instead of him. He's got alot to prove while its hard to support a player in and out when he's barely supporting himself. Hopefully Bridge pulls through!

Bridge really was incredible last night. Ran himself into the ground, was hilarious just how farked he looked celebrating Gibbs' goal haha. Speaking of which, his dummy for that goal was nothing short of perfection, completely took Fyfe out.

He was brilliant last night!

Not just his goals but his assists and attempted assists.   There is no doubt about his skill on the ball and ability to beat a  player, it's always been his finishing, Not that there was anything wrong with it last night.

Briiiiidgeeeey, Briiiidgeeeey......
