I haven't seen a single WSW fan scream traitor or Judas.

I think Borda has always been the same player since he arrived. Might have more to do with defence being more organised and in sync with each other.

Copped way too much hate, more than he deserved despite some serious mistakes he's made this season. I hope I never hear another so called Wanderers supporter wish that one of our players gets stabbed, which I heard said about Redmayne.

He's not a great goalkeeper imo, but anyone who says stuff like that should go see a psychologist.

Last season he did okay in general, with the most glaring problem IMO being controlling the ball with his feet. Redmayne kept 7 clean sheets last season (Tied for 3rd with Vukovic & Jamie Young), not too shabby but then again we had a more solid and experience back four. This season his performance has dropped considerably but I'd say that more than half the goals he conceded were more due to defensive errors than poor goalkeeping (although there was plenty of the latter as well).

Bit of googling has given me this snippet from the 2015/16 season as well: "After 13 rounds, Redmayne is statistically the best keeper in the A-League, playing every game and conceding just 10 goals, paying tribute to former AC Milan and Socceroos keeper Kalac."

and a few of his comments about the club: 

“I was just told that an experienced keeper had come in (to melbourne city) and I’d be a fair way down the pecking order so if something arose free to go,’’ Redmayne said.

“Then ‘Spider’ (Zeljko Kalac) called and I didn’t look back.

“Complete honesty is what I’ve received from the Wanderers from day one — he said we’ve got to tweak every aspect of your game, and from our first game of pre-season until now we’re always working.

“It was a bit of a turbulent time at Melbourne, but I’m just fully focused on the Wanderers now and driven to achieve success.’’

“I’m thoroughly enjoying the changes of influence and couldn’t be happier.

“We’ve got cohesion in the backline, we’re pressing teams quite high and limiting entries into the box and final third which makes all defensive jobs easier. We’re defending boldly and bravely.

“It’s a great club to play for, it’s a completely honest and hard working environment.’’

I guess sometimes we have quite short memories.

Some people take things way too seriously. It's 22 people chasing a ball around, in a tinpot league - it's not life or death (it's much more important) . I'll get the shits in games, but have some ******* perspective.

TBH I don't think any GK will get game time if you have Vukovic keeps playing the way he is.

He was better than bouzanis.

He wasn't as bad as some made out. Guys who sit behind us blame him for everything, when clearly it's not his fault.

However he makes way too many mistakes for a team that wants to win stuff. Seems like a nice guy, wish him all the best etc. But I'm glad we have signed a better keeper (not top class but better at least)

Also some did blame him for everything including things that he could do nothing about e.g. Hammil's crap back pass in game 1 last season against the Roar

Borda has improved, Aspro has settled in and Cornflakes out has helped.

 

Borda has improved ever so slightly in that he has cut out mistakes but he will always be exposed for pace and will always be limited with the ball at feet.

Our defence has improved because we are no longer defending with a high line and we have Dimas and Pinatares instructed to shield the CB's at all costs.

Thanks for going to the trouble of putting his contribution to WSW's success last year into perspective, Valter.

He was far from welcomed with open arms when he arrived here...and it's likely he'll get the same reception playing for FC (or sitting on the bench more likely).

That can't build anyone's confidence, and in anything we do, confidence is a huge factor in performance.

It was always gonna be hard. In the end I agree he was better than what people made him out to be but a drop in quality over what we had let go

I always liked reading "Andrew Redmayne" on the starting lineup for Heart. You knew you'd score a goal or 3.
