Dropped or rested?

Due to Popa's rotation system there is some conflict in answering that question. In any other situation for any other team it would be considered a dropping but when you play 5 games in 13 days it is hard to say otherwise. It is just a ridiculous situation a team should be put under. In saying that, you have to say that Covic's performance against ESFC & GE, he was definitely below the level or expectation we expect from a first team keeper & that either his confidence has taken a blow or he is just tired from the congested schedule.

It isn't as if we have a third choice keeper that we want to bring on if Bouzanis is injured, hey

Seeing as we lost Thomas Manos to Wollongong Wolves, it is perhaps surprising that a younger keeper wasn't promoted in Covic's place.

What about that Heward Bell guy that travelled to Morocco?

The next big thing apparently according to Ron Corry

he's a big thing now. Old Ron Corrys been looking up that kid's nostrils since he was 12

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Covic called it a day in the off season and retired. Or he may play on next season but will maybe be called on as a back up.

Either way his time is running short. He still has so much to offer the club though and I would love to see him retained on the club staff in some capacity. Future managerial potential perhaps?

His WSW legend status will always remain.

Time may be catching up with him. He's made more mistakes this season than in the whole of the first 2.

This is true.. and it also applies to a lot of the other players in the squad.

I think this should be the last season for him

Covic is having his simon mignolet moments and dropping hi to the bench maybe the right thing to do.

Think he just needs a proper rest/offseason, it's been a long season already & no surprise that we are struggling all over the park, not just our number one goal keeper.

To all those who doubt Ante, for Shame!

We would not be Premiers, Champions of Asia if it was not for this towering hulk of a goal keeper.

In my view he has a couple more seasons for us.

I see alot of the goals we have conceded and think to myself if our defense existed at all, that shouldn't have gone to Ante.

I hate to state the obvious,  but the goal keeper should be the last line of defense, in our current form it seems to be the only form of Defense.

Our defenders need to wake the ***** up and stop getting caught ball watching.

I think talk of Ante being past it is far fetched.  Without doubt he has been our most consistent player since inception and continues to be so. He's our rock. Only a few months ago he almost single handedly won us the ACL Final. Remember that?

Granted, he's made a mistake or two recently but our defenders have played like statues for as long as I can remember. Name me a keeper who never makes mistakes.  We have much more pressing issues in our team than replacing Ante.

I would still have Ante as our number one over any other current A-League keeper.

Does a goalkeeper need rest?

FIFA Logic: Keepers never drop stamina in FIFA, Therefore they don't irl either.

Maybe its the brain that needed resting !
Last year's FIFA it dropped a little & was handy to have a second keeper but this year the keepers recover well

This is especially useful in ultimate team, saves contracts.
