How did that shot miss...

When he took the shot he curled it but not enough and clipped the outside of the post.  I thought that was obvious!

tell him to stop ***** diving

agreed with this, he is the new Dino in diving ability anyway

only one was a dive - and if he didn't dive he probably could have drawn a penalty.

the other one he kicked the back of the defender's leg and tripped himself over.

nice to have another clumsy forward like dino to help us adjust to the post-dino years :P

lol his pre season form seemed to suggest he was a better goalscorer than Dino so maybe half the matches he plays he can play like Dino the other half he can play like Santalab(AKA Messi) so we get half a Dino

I know he had a few wayward moments last night but I am liking the added value and depth Santa brings to the team. He worked quite nicely with JP when Hersi went off and you can tell he's only about a bee's-dick away from slotting one in the back of the net. His value later in the season especially around ACL time will be even more noticeable.

yes. his signing along with spira, gives us an incredibly balanced squad with a lot of depth.

and his first goal will be trademark screamer - but my prediction is everything else will be simple goals that are more of a team effort than his own individual brilliance.

Mightily impressed with Santa's contribution last night. His movement off the ball is sublime, times his runs so well, Archie should be taking notes. Has the polish of someone who's played OS.

Awesome to hear, if it's confirmed!

(On a side note, a tad annoying that members aren't the first to find out.

I'd love the club to do what many other sporting clubs do; SMS & email members the announcement of player signings & re-signings, before/at the same time as news outlets. SMS the basic details (who, and for how long), then send an email out, which goes into more details.)

they can barely sms people a weekly lineup or post a youth team lineup anywhere on the internet at all

Santalab has reportedly re-signed for another 2 seasons. This from fox sports, not official yet.

Santalab hasn't proven anything yet with the Wanderers, how on earth did management decide to sign this aging player another 2 years?!

They should get their priorities straight and re-sign Mooy, Shinji, and Hersi.

Disgruntled fan.

Clubs don't sign one player at a time. They will be working on a dozen players or more.

Don't know why you are so disgruntled, Santa would be on substantially less then these three and i'm pretty sure Popa sees him primarily as an off the bench player and in that regards he is a good signing.

He was good in pre-season, but hasn't really set the league alight since. Bemusing decision

Can but assume his manager has offered a deal that is relatively inexpensive. I think he may well be a strong asset for the current season but am a little mystified he has been grabbed so quickly when guys like Ono, Hersi and Polenz are still hanging...

His lack of pace relative to what we have elsewhere is a real concern. Don't know what Popovic is thinking with this and Bridge 3 year contract.

He's Croatian :ninja:

This.

Inb4 somebody says we should rename the club to Dinamo Wanderers with the amount of Croatians we have

Some people are jumping to conclusions. Ever considered that he took the first offer that was presented to him? ie cheap?

Whereas guys like Ono, Hersi and Polenz will be asking for higher wages and thus are still in the negotiation phase.

This. I'd say negotiations with Santa would be a hell of a lot quicker and easier than they would with Hersi and Ono.

Also remember last year they did player renewals in stages and broke the squad up into groups. Who's to say this isn't the same thing

Can't blame him at all though - the job security of being signed for an additional two seasons is a great thing.

I'm very keen to see him continue to grow as a footballer under Popa, over these next few years!
