Time to Saba him. 14 games, doesn't even look like getting 5 goals in total this season. We could use Santalab up front and get just as much ability in harassing the other team.

He's there to score. He can't do it. Get rid of him.

Most of us could tell after 3 games that he is rubbish . No movement no game sense no shots at goal no goals no assists , even Crazy jayzycho told us 4 months ago . He's probably a good bloke and trains hard that's why popa persists with him but a marquee doesn't come off after 60 mins every game unless they are rubbish .

I'm even thinking of dropping him from the Stringer Bellend XI Fantasy Team, that's how bad it's got

I do feel sorry for him, nothing seems to be going right for him. For example the goal the other week against Adelaide should have stood, if it had we would have been raving how he monster the defender.

I've been prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but I was expecting a big game from him last night in a big clash and he failed to deliver for mine. Not sure how easy it is to replace him but I can't see him starting next week.

If he played consistently as hard as he did against Adelaide I'd be disagreeing with you right now.

But one game in fourteen doesn't cut it for those wages.

You can tell in his expressions how much he wanted this.. but that expression is turning into hopelessness and frustration. He looks like he's admitting defeat.

Come on mate.. plenty of time to bag some key goals in the later part of this season.

Agree with it all, thought he was being over kind and could have gone in harder personally.

Dino Kresinger part 2.

If Castelen stays injury free he will be our marquee player next season.

Dino lacked the technical ability, but he ran around like a headless cook and bust his arse at times. When he did score a goal you could see what it meant to him.

Pio is a lazy fat knacker with the turning circle of a cruise ship. He reminds me of a player Boro had called Mido (Egyptian striker) who lumbered around every game to collect his pay.

Mido wasn't too bad technically too for a big player.

HA! Worst player I have ever seen in a Boro shirt, when away on unapproved leave from the club (said he had some family crisis back in Egypt) and came back around 3 stone over weight. A joke of a professional footballer.

I loved Dino, we all did.

But, I have to disagree with your description of Pio. Get to a training session ans see how ripped this guy is, he does look fat but he is not. I personally think he looks like a frustrated player, who is trying hard, but it's just not happening.

Pio should have started against SFC, his size was actually needed against Faty and Jurman who are both big and both were SFC's best.

Maybe like Dino the crowd need to get behind him and start a "PIO, PIO, PIO" chant...who knows it might pump him up.

lol, Cockerill has nfi about football. Pio works just as hard off the ball (if not harder) than Dino ever did. He actually draws defenders. Some of our tap ins by Nichols/bridge were possible because Pio drew the CBs away from them.
"no assists" - instead he wins the ball at halfway, lays it off to Jamo who gets the assist for Nichols. But Pio did nothing in that build up (as Cockerill claims)

How can you say his body language and effort is lacking when he chases down an opposing player all the way into our own box, wins the ball back and carries it back to halfway?

So your thoughts on why Pio didn't start the derby and why Popa keeps on persisting with a dead weight in Casta that offers nothing at all to the team?

What we are lacking is goals and that quality touch in front of the sticks, no doubting Pio works hard as you say, but the kind of striker is he thrives on goals, I suspect that that is the only stat he cares about and so far he has failed to convert many golden chances, this may well change very soon and we all hope it does but he has butchered a good few chances, he has had service at times, but I would agree our service in to the box does is poor at times.

Casta I agree is frustrating as fook sometimes, no very often indeed, but also look at his contribution over the last few months, the Victory game and a few other assists and that is more than Pio has done lately, especially as Pio has been warming the bench. Casta ran the game vs Victory and won us the 3 points there, ok one game and he has reverted back to his usual self since, but there is a glimmer there of what he could be or could have been without the injuries he has had in his career.

Maybe you should be questioning Popa?

This bitching between Pio and Casta anyway, personally they both have much to prove in their respected various areas. I try and comment on the last few games and as I see it.

I give Casta and Pio as much stick at different times, some probably misguided on my part perhaps. But I wouldn't jump on  Pio or Casta bandwagon and bag one out over the other because they are in similar positions. But Casta for mine has something in the bank from the last month.

It would be much easier to condemn pio if he wasn't trying. He works hard but he simply hasn't been good enough. If you bring in a marquee striker they MUST score or create goals. He has been given ample opportunities to do this and he has not. Sure some of our goals have come from occupying defenders to free up bridge and Nichols but Dino did this too - just for 1/5 of the cost.

The broader question I think is does popa's system allow for a prolific 9 or will they always be a battering ram to clear space for the 3 attackers behind them.

3 and a half seasons of evidence would say that the system doesn't produce high scoring 9's aside from a Bulut half season cameo.

Nb - not a criticism of popa, just an observation.

Agree Pio should be producing more. As Popa has stated, the injury he had that took him out for a month halted all momentum he was building (2 goals in 2 games).

Personally I think Popa's reasoning for having Pio on the bench in the derby is so he had an out and out striker available as a sub, since Santa was injured. But he only gave him 10 minutes off the bench. That's not a good sign.

It's not the system. What striker doesn't love having 3 dynamic players feeding him? Pio can't even get in the game let alone score because he's a slow lumbering player with no composure or technique.

You may be right , it could be that he is slow , maybe he has no technique.

Problem is there are not that many balls getting through and certainly almost none when Castellan gets a hold of the ball.......  other teams have worked out Castellan, he won't pass the F*** ball - he gets surrounded by the opposition, as he did  sat night, because they feel safe leaving thier positions to stop his runs. Thats how I see his play. So tell me if any one can get a shot away when the ball is nowhere near them. And why a so called fat, slow, no technique pizza eating slob can't score - thats right , its because he doesn't work hard enough to get the ball... ( sarcasm)

Thats how I'm seeing it, but hey, I'm probably wrong . :sorry:

I think there are two factors at play here, yes Castelen too often takes the wrong option, but I also this the movement is slow in to the box around him and don't anticipate very well, too often drifting in to an offside position or not keeping in line with the play, it makes players hold the ball a second or two longer. Now that is not making any excuse for Castelen, but for mine against Victory his was the best individual  WSW performance of the season, he ripped them apart and everything seemed to click up front for a change.

I want Pio to succeed but at the same time I think support Pio is getting and the shyte Castelen is getting is are unfair when he has put in as much this season and had as much impact, he may frustrate us but he has given just as much / less as Pio has.

Pio has also missed some open goal opportunities. There's been at least two, one he just skied, was very frustrating.
