Just read this entire thread, I think Foxtel commentary in general is poor and tabloid like. I try to avoid listening to those re*ardz. The only decent coverage, pardon me, a very decent coverage on football in Australia is The World Game. It's a shame that they dropped A-league section.

Why the hell Bosnić and Slater feel its necessary to single out Jerome Polenz and look solely at him is beyond me. Are they that out of ideas?

I'm not going to blindly stand up for him, he's [Polenz] got a bit excited on a few occasions. He's lost himself into the game and there's so much passion. It's what makes him a great player. But he hasn't done anything to put a players career in danger or warrant this much attention. Plus Garcia deserved that as a personality, the guy is a proper ****.

Just the other night Mandžukić got a red card for studs up into a players thigh. He got a red card, end of discussion. He knew what he did. There's no biggot commentators telling him to pull that out of his game. It's just self managed. I think the problem is with biggot commentators and not with Jerom Polenz personally.

Mandžukić only did it once, JP did it twice. if Mandžukić were to do it again in his next match i'm sure there would be almost as much of an issue. some of the reasons that it is such an issue is because -

- he is the best in his position and is an attacking, exciting footballer who people like fox sports would want to use as an advertisment for the game

- the wanderers are still THE story in australian football, and people still want to hear about the fairytale

- the wanderers are one of the few real teams to beat, so wsw fans want to hear all the good, and fans of everyone else want to hear the bad - and more than anyone else at our club, JP is the guy making headlines for both good and bad.

so any news on the wanderers, especially in a show based in sydney is going to feature wsw and its players heavily.

i personally prefer the views of fox sports in regards to the a-league and football in general, than those expressed in what i feel is such a negative and boring way on SBS.

and frankly long ago i got sick of watching a certain wannabe manager's orgasm face anytime someone mentions barcalona and possesion based football.

As the no.1 ticket holder in the 'Wir lieben Jerome Verein' guy sums it up nicely, though when it comes to preferences for Foxtel vs SBS I'm usually happy either way (hey, I'll swing for Bozza or for Les...or should that be for Tara and Lucy  :P ).

Bottom line is Polenz has attracted and generated far more attention than far less capable players, such as hacks like Warren or Boogard for example, hence the love/hate relationship between him, the media, Wanderers fans and other lesser life forms (i.e. anyone who doesn't support the Wanderers). Jerome's not shy of poking the bear a little bit too, vis-a-vis the exchange between him and Garcia.

If JP was committing acts that were contrary to the rules and spirit of the game and he was picked up on the pitch and punished then that should be the end of it. Problem is the court of popular opinion will yammer on and on long after the original incident has been consigned to an archived web site or a pedant's memory. The haters and non-WSW fans will continue to focus on his nasty challenges against Garcia and Mabil (particularly the later) whilst not much is being said by anyone regarding his defending (for example his goal line challenge against the Victory that was a stunner last Saturday).

Jerome can and has done wrong, but in the grand scheme of footballing quality in our club and league he is head and shoulders over say 80-90% of those plodders running around in colours other than ours. And like anyone and everyone who dons the WSW he will always get my support.

That's a fair point I never thought of it that way. I always presume that issues like this are "sensationalist"  where they microscope a tiny portion of what is happening in the game (99% of the time it's a negative factor) and just don't talk about anything else.

barcalona and possesion based football.

But ... but ... but ... Barcelona ....!?

I view these matters with more cynical intentions. I'm not so sure I can share the same positivity. I'm very wary of the Australian sensationalist media. I've watched over the years how the media have destroyed players careers. The telegraph is the tallest of the tallest of poppies and are more than happy to take down a player just to make some money. (Australian society would be better off without the fear generated from this newspaper...)

But we're not talking about the telegraph. We're talking about FoxSports so I will have to wait and see.

FFS...the sanctimonious bull dust being spouted is ridiculous, Where was the coverage of Manny Muscat, on Marc Warren, the consistent red cards being awarded against Adelaide?

And to think I rushed home from the bottle-o for that tripe

Look at the people on the panel tonight, Andy Harper was a smurfs CEO and Kosmina is an Adelaide guy and he probably should've been sent off for the tackle on Mabil

Polenz interview is on fox sports, he owned Garcia again

I saw that and I thought it was a really good interview and I'm really glad FoxSports gave him the time of day to say what he had to say. Anyone else feel the same way?

Tara > Lucy

Bozza > Fozzie

Slater > SBS camera guy #2

Harper > shakespeare

It's not the thread to have this discussion. But I will say this:

Maggot > Slater

After his comments against Harry Kewel and his constant bigotry that guy is in the "Kevin Muscat" of interviewers/commentators.

did you ask him why he doesn't follow you on twitter?

I would have but ***** Bozza and ***** Peacock and ***** Rudan got in first with even more re-hashing of those early round tackles. Meanwhile Boogard, Brown, Carle, Muscat etc etc are ignored....

how the f is bozza & co still going on about Polenz's tackles..

because it makes for better TV for fox sports, it may piss off wanderers fans, but there are 9 other teams fans that have this general kevin muscat like hatred for polenz because had made a couple of bad challenges, thats  the media and how it works

Big team with great players. Any news on them is good news for Fox ratings. If there isn't any news then just pull out something from the archives and rehash it.

Hold on, let me guess this straight:

  1. Polenz makes two bad slide tackles (on non ESFC teams). People get pissed because they don't want that in the Australian game.
  2. A third tackle is apparently deemed bad, a 50/50 challenge (not a slide tackle), where a woman named Richard Garcia from ESFC posts pictures of scratches on her legs
  3. The Cove decide he's worse than Muscat.

I do not understand The Cove. Do they just want in on rival club banter because it makes them feel cool? I've heard their average age is below 20? Is this true?

Their pull up banner at the first derby made zero sense, they barely chant for their team and now they want to give it to Polenz because apparently he's some violent raging machine. What the f***...
