Just like for the rest of the team, it was a pretty ordinary night for Jerome.

He tried hard, but made too many mistakes.

FMD. Suspended for the derby!

Why? Did he get carded tonight? I don't remember that...

In injury time?

So... he's not suspended?

He didn't have a great game today, I know he'll realise this and hopefully he can get back to his best for the derby!

One of the few who played against the victory was always going to be a bit lethargic, fully expect him to be back to his best for the derby.

According to the A-League's official report he did cop a yellow, so if that is enough to tip him over the line for missing the Derby then yep, he's out.

I don't think he was that bad (yeah, I'm biased) and he was better than Meggsy, NTS and especially D'Apuzzo. His head knock in the first few minutes did damage and he wasn't helped by Hersi's lack of motivation/mobility. I guess Cole will take his place next game.

After the head knock, I noticed the next string of passes to be a bit off, but he's a tough guy and after that came back strong. I thought Hersi was appalling tonight, and didn't do Polenz any favours at all, whether it was transitioning into the attack or more importantly coming back to defend. (I roughly feel the same way about D'Appuzzo and Bridge i.e. Bridge's defensive work)

Polenz' positioning game was top tier and his work ethic was [is] 100%. IMO he was let down by those around him.

Have to disagree with you there, Manfred. Hyphen was my MotM this eve, without the benefit of replay, as yet. Jerome was probably next in line.

I can't remember seeing a yellow for JP and I hope it didn't happen.

i don't think so...i think the confusion is that boxall got a yellow for time wasting but the ref only wrote it in his book after the next stoppage which was after polenz made a nothing foul at 90m30s so some people thought polenz got a yellow.

I've checked Foxsport match centre, there was no yellow card for JP6. Hes still on 4 cards. Hes still good for starting on SYD Derby.

I'm probably on my own here, but I wonder if after the knock to his head he should have been taken off...? It wasn't a light knock at all.

I looked at the reply, but it doesn't show the actual card because it's zoomed in on the offence. By the time lavdure gets over there he's writing in his notebook. So I presume it was very quickly shown, Polenz appeared to see it.

He should have time wasted against Victory and missed this match.

I don't think the foul deserved a card at all.

Yeah I agree For a few minutes after the knock, he seemed to be off the pace. He almost gifted them a goal shortly afterwards with a lazy pass back to Ante..... eventually in the 2nd half he successfully gifted them one.

Yes, he came down hard and with some whiplash lost orientation, but gifted the Nix a goal in the second half? FFS all the goals came from the failure of the left flank to either get the ball out of their area or do enough to stop the slanting runs of Husyegems. To blame Polenz for any of the goals last night is simply ignorant. The prime reasons we went down the way we did was Mooy, D'Apuzzo and NTS didn't do anywhere near enough to keep our left flank solid. On top of that they added nothing in offence, whilst JP ran like a trojan and at least tried to do more on his flank even with Hersi playing like a busted arse. I know I have schwarz rot and geld glasses but very few of our guys from last night deserve lesser criticism than Jerome.

I thought Topor played well. It's just that when you're one on one and having to run back, it's very tough especially with no one else covering.

Interesting. Lavadure must have just ticked him off, because he definitely got out the notebook.

Lol. I've been writing since last season about how D'Apuzzo is clearly our weak link. Too slow, can't mark his winger properly and often caught out of position. The funny thing is that in our rotation policy he has been one of the least rotated.

I've just looked at the replay, I'm sure this is what happened:

On the stroke of 90 minutes Wellington's Boxall gave away a free kick, then as D'Apuzzo was trying to do a throw-in, Boxall threw another ball onto the pitch. The ref booked him for timewasting, but allowed the game to start immediately, without getting his notebook out to write down the yellow. Play continued for another 30 seconds until Polenz fouled Boyd. When that happened the ref then had his notebook out. Since the replay was tight on the corner I assume the person doing the FFA website believed that Polenz had been booked, when it was actually the ref noting down the Boxall yellow.

This was my take on it also... When it happened I actually thought the ref did a good job in that instance.
