**** Yeahh. Just need NTS to re-sign and back 5 are here to stay. Also another CB wouldn't be a bad idea to sign.

For all the talk about Shinji (which is without doubt merited for most of the season) for me Polenz has been the best O/S player to pull on the Red and Black. It helps that he has come from a solid pedigree...his first few years with Werder Bremen meant he was in the same squad with the likes of Miroslav Klose, Torsten Frings, Tim Boroskowi and Per Mertesacker (all Mannschaft players). When he went to Alemannia they had just dropped back into Bundesliga 2 from their only season in the top flight since the 1960s, and playing with both Aachen and Union Berlin in Bundesliga 2 would have given him great exposure to a quality league that would surpass almost any of the Asian squads and leagues.

Having said that, one thing that was apparent after the Mariners game yesterday was that he was missing his combo with Hersi. Appiah-Kubi doesn't have the same instinctive feel for the one-two game that Hersi and Polenz have shown again and again. Elrich was better, which is intriguing as considering Polenz was originally signed on as a midfield option Popa decided to keep him back instead of pushing him forward, slotting Elrich in behind. Has Popa defined Polenz as a defensive feeder rather than a potential attacking ball player?

Best RB in the league IMO.

I love watching his overlapping runs, the way he takes on players, his good crosses. Great player.

Fozzie gave a good nod to JP on The World Game tonight, complimenting him on how he helped set up Bridge's goal against the Meow...so at least one ex-Socceroo and media pundit knows who Jerome is

Yeah that's pretty standard for a last man red. I'd imagine La Rocca will take his spot against Adelaide. The timing isn't too bad because La Rocca's on 4 yellow cards so if he gets one this weekend, Polenz will have served his suspension and be fresh to come back into the squad while La Rocca has his week off.

Jerome was a little down on quality last night...there was a bit of talk about his oppo from the Jets but aside from a decent cross in the first half and a few moments late in the second he just didn't seem to have the same rhythm. Looks like that suspension has had a negative impact. I'm sure he'll come good for next week (and the Fox guys were saying that his combo with Hersi was one of the hughlights of the A-League season).

His pass to Bridge can't be ignored though... Seriously a laser...

But did anyone else see him... i guess punch... the guy he was marking in the head  some time in the second half? it was right in front of the RBB and well off the ball... weird moment.

Didn't see any physical stuff from JP...and yes, that cross/pass to Bridge was his highlight of the game.

Nice one...and would love to see some more Deutschies make the trek to Festung Wanderland if they are anywhere as committed and as professional as JP.

Polenz was an absolute beast tonight. Loved his last ditch sliding tackle in the box to stop a definite goal for Victory- i think that moment pretty much sums up what this club is about.
