His crossing was atrociously bad on Sunday. It's something he really needs to get right.

What a load of scheisse...first off he had two meaningful crosses, the first at around the 20 minute mark that just was in front of Mark Bridge, who was not at his best the entire game, and then at the 70 minute mark which was spot perfect and was commended by the commentators on the Foxtel's coverage. Also it was Jerome's ball to Santa that got him a more than decent shout for a penalty, he put in a last man tackle that whilst earned him a yellow card certainly ended a strong Phoenix attack; all this on top of a goal, two deflected shots and running the whole 90 minutes plus injury time and that's all you have to add to the discussion.

I might be biased (**** it, I am) but give yourself an uppercut...Polenz was everything a couple of the other guys weren't last night, and if that is the extent of your insight may I kindly suggest you find a more compatible sport to provide your thoughts on (may I suggest pocket billards).

His crossing was atrociously bad. This is not something that needs further "insight."

I'm not going to give myself an uppercut. I suggest you re-think your posting approach.

What...by using facts and actually watching the game. Or should I follow your approach...make a vague statement that has no reference point in fact.

I know...by citing your paradigm let's try this for a 'posting approach', Hersi was lazy and never passed. Ante Covic should've done more to stop Brockie's goal. Brendan Santalab never really had a decent shot. D'Apuzzo was the mainstay of the defence.

I could go on but I'm out of facile unsubstantiated comments.

you only need another 8 or 9.....

I'm leaving them for our resident Jimmy Hill to provide...

I think his crossing looked bad due to NO-ONE attacking the crosses from the left. Bridge, D'Apuzzo, where the hell were they?

Manfred, I think you were wearing your biased goggles.

I can't remember if ALL of his crosses were bad on Sunday (probably not), but I do remember at least two in the first half and one in the second half that were way over hit and sailed out for either a goal kick or a throw in on the other side.

So if you remember a few good ones and I remember a few bad ones, then it sounds like his crossing success was about 50-50.

He played alright and he did score the goal, but he can definitely improve his crosses.

Now, now Kizza, don't let facts get in the way of perceptions...don't you know it is the expectation that the ball has to be lobbed onto the noggin of the appropriate person every time with pinpoint accuracy...otherwise you might find that the provider is reduced to a shambolic wreck more suitable for deployment in the ESFC back four?

Bridge was on the end of one cross alone...that one in the first few minutes that came from Hersi. For the rest of the game he and D'Apuzzo were mostly MIA. Can they improve...I hope so. Does it reflect badly on the likes of JP and Hersi...**** no. Right now I'd rather find problems with those players who underperformed in our first two games this season, try and make constructive critical points anchored in reference points like D'Apuzzo being turned by Ifill, instead of making pithy but useless statements about the guys who actually did do the job.

Bom, I just watched the game again to be sure and there were two proper crosses...and even if he had a bad one here and there does it merit a 'atrociously bad' comment? **** no!

I like that JP's response has more re-tweets than Garcia's original tweet. There are more people laughing at you then there are feeling sorry for you Richard.

Going to try and do weekly highlights for the man we love in Nummer Sechs:

Missed the CCM game so here's JP at work against Phoenix:

I FREAKING LOVE THIS GUY. What a player. So quick with the ball at his feet and his passing is second to none. A great asset to the team and imperative that he stays fit if we are going to make a run into the finals and possible the grand final

He had a great game tonight!!! As above, he controlled the ball well and kept his defender on his toes - to only beat him time and time again. Not to mention his passing game and his game winning assist.

also imperative he remains on the field

in reality two straight reds should have been given last two weeks .....both horrible challenges and i don't like to see that stuff

otherwise he made some great runs in behind against adelaide and had a good game

anyway sure popa is onto it

Would like to see him pull his head in and have a better attitude on the field.

Let his skills do the talking.

Havent been impressed by him of recent, esp off the pitch

I said before the ESFC game that I didn't like a lot of the trash talking he was doing. I think that somewhat takes the focus of what he should really be concentrating on. Seems to be a bit more brash and outspoken this year.

You're kidding right?

Once he tones down the tackles he'll be just about our best on field, his drive forward and covering defence is outstanding.

And off the pitch he's a top bloke doing charity work for kids with cancer. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/The-JEROME-POLENZ-Kit-Nike-Boots-Headband-/221310772252?pt=AU_Sport_Soccer_Clothing_Boots&hash=item338726641c&_uhb=1

The weird tackling is new, might just be the footballer's version of ring rust.

Also, after his exchange with Richard Garcia - he's certainly tops :P

Took the words out of my mouth.

Seriously one has to wonder if some of the people commentating here are ESFC fans in disguise suffering from Dino's Syndrome (I.e. a desire to have a dig at a Wanderers player because the media are hyping up a supposed negative aspect of their play).

I'm not going to say he's an angel, but his on and off field attitude about the Wanderers is a 100% committed and he has made more effort than most A-League players and most Joe Publics to help out charities (specifically in his case Kids With Cancer). Plus he has repeatedly been named in teams of the week, teams of the season, man of match nominees etc. Right now he is one of our few goal scorers this season, set up the winner against Adelaide and been adjudged by the refs for the games he's played in (and not for all their pontificating, the TV commentators) to have done no more than earned 2 separate yellow cards. Unless he commits a foul akin to those that cost a game, as per Lucas Neill in the WC2006 game against Italy, all the media inspired bleating is irrelevant.
