    Description: Aspro as he has come to be called, is a young and improving ball playing central defender. After making sporadic appearances in the first two seasons at the Wanderers, he came of age in the 2016/17 season, being called upon as the #1 central defender over the vastly experienced Robbie Cornthwaite & foreign player Aritz Borda. Unfortunately for young Aspro, a severe knee injury he picked up during the Wanderers successful National Youth League Grand Final saw his 2017/18 season cut short, and perhaps lead to his release from the Wanderers on 14.5.2018.

He took a knock early in the NYL game and was kept on. I hope that decision didn't play any part in the second injury.

That's a huge blow for his career. He's off contract, I imagine he was look at overseas options as well as other A-League clubs, unless he's signing a deal without it becoming public, no-one is going to look at him until the January transfer window next year at the earliest.

His response shows the steel that is needed to overcome. 

I knew he should have been subbed off after the Heartless goalkeeper tackled him in NYL grandfinal. I was behind our coach's at Newy and actually wished him luck with his recovery before we knew it was an ACL injury.

Good read on why Aspro left for the Mariners. Word is that WSW offered him a contract but he rejected it.

Those are my feelings too. I was hoping after the shackles of Gombau we could get him fit and back in to the match day squad competing for a starting position. Pretty much pick up where he left off after the 2016/17 season. He should be a starter for the Mariners (otherwise - why would he go?!) and at least that will give him the game time he needs. It's a shame as I rate him quite highly and he's a Western Sydney boy.

He would have been competing with Tongyik for a CB position. Both are in the same mould but Tongyik is more mobile.

At the moment we have the following CBs: Hamill (26), Tongyik (22) and Mourdoukoutas (18)

True, we do need to add an experienced leader in the CB position.

Im pretty sure he was a Bondi boy.

Yep, a one year contract with CCM will mean that he'll do his recovery there, and then the door is open to joining the Smurfs.

Heard him on a pod. He went to Newington (GPS School) where they tried to convert him to rugby union. He is also do a university course in business.

I mentioned i another thread that German Robert Huth would be immense....not played due to injury for a good while, Leicester City releasing and EPL career over you would think. A born leader...shame we wouldn't be able to afford....:( Not unless he is best mates with Babbel. Might still do a job for a Championship level side I guess.

His major injury ( ACL ? ) didn't help. Same with O'Doherty....although O'Doherty now has an opportunity to really step up.
