Sloppy Sausage Time reporting he's had several multi year offers from Holland.

Presumably he's got a release clause because he's contracted for another season beyond this one.

IIRC $2.5 Million buyout clause

That's a big buyout clause for an Australian defender

Spira's second contract has always seemed like one of the smartest things this club has done. Multi-year and buy-out clause for a player we always suspected would attract good offers before his contract comes due. I think we'll keep him during this window but I doubt he'll still be in the red and black hoops come July.

In the post-match press conference Popa said the Spira has the quality for playing DM, is "calm on the ball and always wants it". There is a difference in fitness level, Popa said, and that he would have liked to take him off after 60 minutes but couldn't. Nevertheless, according to Popa, he made a difference.

I feel he's the man that Taurus is going on about leaving for ESFC

i believe he is contracted with us until the end of next season(2015-16), so can't be him.

if it's a "high profile" player from our ACL winning team then that would possibly be only juric or saba or covic who have left or are off contract. wouldn't be covic, unlikely to be saba, so could be juric. dunno.

China?

Really?

I don't understand.......

Well lets see.

China = money and a growing league, a chance to be put in the shop window. Better than the A-league.

A-league = Wage dispute and no ACL football

He is at an age where the dream of European football is slowly disappearing from his grasp.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club had offers from at least 1 European club. Although I'd suggest the Chinese transfer offer would have been much greater

lol Ange won't be happy but now Cahill went he can't say s.hit because the poster boy of Oz is there. Really hoped Spira went to Europe would have been better for the Socceroos - anyway this was he will be back in 18 months when the Chinesse have enough of him.

It's China no import gets longer than 2 years.

maybe it could be a deal like Adama Traore - go to china for six months, then get sold for a profit to a bigger European club like FC Basel (which wouldn't be a bad move, pretty sure they're play CL this season).

So, now we have an attacking midfielder and a striker to sign, plus a replacement for Spira. Do you guys want your wooden cutlery now or are you keen to wait till next autumn?
