Three days rest means changes will be made. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Beauchamp, Tyson, Trifiro, Heffernan, Kubi, Haliti, Tahj, Mooy, and perhaps some of the more promising youth team (come on Martin Lo) for Wellington.

We need the best available team for Wellington.  Considering we're 4 behind Brisbane and 3 points is a must and a 10 day break until the Derby, there's little reason to be playing around with fringe players more than is absolutely necessary.

Agree, you should always have your strongest team when playing at home, 3 points is a must and the nix have won a couple in a row, even though it was against ESFC and Heart, their confidence is going to be a lot higher than the past two times that we played then only got a point in each games.

3 at the back works well if the other team have 2 strikers - however most A-league teams play with one striker.

Megsy will play again and no doubt he will be ready when called upon.

I do hope so.  Not entirely convinced though.

At this stage, Tyson will play a game for us, before Megsy does again.

I was assuming he'd play full strength at Victory then rotate for the 'easier' match at home.

Instead he's rotated for the harder match, nearly won the game, and will now rotate back to full strength at home.

As for 3 at the back, won't happen. The club plays 4-2-3-1. 3 at the back (or 5 if you include wingbacks) is an ineffective formation in modern football and isn't a formation we have trained with. If we ever play that way it'll be a massive surprise and a huge tactical gamble.

What's Meggsy's contract status at the moment?

He's off contract.Contract Details: 1 year initial contract. Signed 1 year extension on 31st December 2012.Contract Expiry: 2013/14
So if here is any chance for Spira to get re-signed could Meggsy be let go? I know that would be anathema to many folk but considering how much Popa prefers to use Spira and the age of Beauchamp perhaps by letting him go it frees up more money for Spira.

I almost feel like a blasphemer articulating this hypothesis.

You are a blasphemer, Manfred. I must be labelled heretic also, as I can see this coming true. It is NOT my wish, I still rate Meggsy higher than NTS (who I would also not lose) and higher than any other CB in the aleague except Sainsbury - and that is only for his age.

I seem to remember loads of people crying "where is our captain!" earlier on in the season  :cheeky:

Hope he bounces back, everyone has a shocker now and then

Earlier in the season when he was dropped, I wouldn't say he was not in form.

He probably knocked a few passes like that in training. Anyway, Meggsy for the start next week?

Also I wouldn't not have denied that he wasn't in form either. Triple negative FTW

That whole sequence just does my head in. What's the point of Covic passing it to Beauchamp when he's facing the wrong way and has a player near him, and what's the point of Beauchamp passing it straight back to the guy who just passed it to him. I hate when free kicks are taken like that.

Possibly the worst back pass in the history of the league.

He'll probably be playing for us again next season though, Spira is way too good for the A-League.

it was a shocker of a pass back but he is still better than those SFC defenders by a country mile and he's played a handful of games this season.

hope he gets picked again and redeems himself :)

Meggsy was about to take the FK until Covic basically said "I'll take it"

So blame Covic ;)

not sure where he is going, but we haven't resigned him and his contract ends in 2 weeks. Suppose comes down as to what happens with Spira, but word is Meggsy sayonara

He was brilliant last night.

I think he'll be with us again next season, especially if Spira leaves.

Heffernan also had his kids on the pitch, so that doesn't mean anything......

i think after seeing Beauchamp with his son, that was prob his last game. Hopefully im wrong

I thought the same too. Captain of the team and he wasn't in the dressing room celebrating the win with the boys?

The way he was walking around the pitch with his son with the team, and then afterwards with his family (and Heffernan?)... it felt like he was saying his goodbyes.

I hope the boys who are leaving get a chance to have a proper farewell with the fans.
