I think we all need to see more then 20 minutes of Saba before were lauding him as a club legend, i know its tongue in cheek...

But he is definitely going to need to tone down the temperament, i mean he had a disagreement at the freekick with Tomi (never want to see this again), and the events that took place afterwards showed his passion but the greats bottle this up a little.

Performance wise hes a definite talent, and he likes to go around his players but it will definitely bring about a style change which could go 2 ways. He slows down the play alot. He needs to integrate this into Poppas plans a little more evenly and not forget about the team. Still very early days, but on first glimpses if we sign Troisi my gut tells me that Saba will be more suited to the left and Troisi behind the Striker.

but early days! :)

A lot of us HAVE seen more than 20 minutes of him - remember he's played in several of the pre-season matches. :)

Am I on my own here in saying that I DON'T want Saba to change at all?

When warming up he was simply buzzing, couldn't get enough of the RBB and the match. All the players did their own warm up exercises, and he did his with one eye on the game the whole time. He then took that passion onto the field, and showed a hunger that we hadn't seen in pre season. The guy has bucket-loads of talent, and he wants to impress his new club. He has a great attitude to the game.

Re - the free kick.

Saba had every right to try and get his hands on the free kick. He is a dead ball specialist, the marquee player, and the creative mid-fielder. The free kick was 25 yards out, right in front of goal, and the man who normally takes free kicks had just been subbed out of the game. Tomi can hit a ball, but do you honestly think he should be on free kick duty? I was screaming at Tomi to let Vitor have it.

After Tomi scuffs the free kick wide, Vitor goes and gives him a double hi 5 and pat on the head. The exact reaction you'd want from a player.

There is a reason he, like Bale, Ronaldo, Messi etc are hated by opposition fans. They are f*cking good.

Don't change Vitor. Don't change one bit.

I dont think anyone is asking him to change. We have all just seen glimpses. Love the passion and style. And like Juric who was well in control of his temperament this game just be in control of the emotions. Ronaldo, Bale etc are great because there hated and there in control. For the team we dont want to see ill discipline reds Hersi style.

Looking forward to this team all coning together! So exciting!!

The whole free kick debate can be sorted out within about 5 minutes at training when they go through some set piece training and Popa says, from these parts of the field it's your kick, and from these parts of the field its your kick.

It really is just a storm in a teacup

a free kick 25 yards out has to be hit with a lot of power to beat even a half decent keeper. and for that reason im sure is why tomi took the free kick.

I have been reading some of the comments from the GE fans and I was snickering at the "son of a bitch" and "**** you"

But people are taking this way too far saying "reward for his dead body" and "i'm putting your family in body bags"

It's actually sickening, and I know everyone is saying they are keyboard warriors etc but I really hope that security for the players/game is a high priority..

"After the game, in the changeroom, he wanted to fight me," Saba said. "He came to fight me and I was laughing and he was angry."

"Alessandro Diamanti told me in the field as well that I'm a troublemaker and I'm not, I just want to win,"  :clapping:

"I knew him because I played I played several times in Italy for Brescia against Bologna and then he was really angry but I had nothing to do with that. I just want to play for my team and try and win."

"I respect him because he's a World Cup winner and he said some positive things about me before the match,"  :good:

"It's a shame that we're in this position now that he wanted to fight me but there's no problem - I'm a cool guy and I don't take it seriously.

seriously, the man crush levels are reaching new heights...............

On his Instagram I think someone has created a whole lot of fake accounts just to troll him.

Because on the majority of their accounts they only one person and that's Vitor.

Saba is exactly what we need, we need creativity and passion. Who gives a **** if he pissed off Lippi, he would of got wrecked if he wanted to fight us lol

Give him marquee wages for pissing off the Chinese fans too, I haven't laughed that long in a long time.

I don't know what Lippis problem was, Saba played in Italy so he knows the tricks of the trade! Over on the Smurfs forum , they already can't stand him! Lol I gotta say though, he needs to calm down a bit or it's going to rain red cards on him!

I get the feeling he will end up being hated by most clubs, and I couldn't be happier. He will turn into a real fan favourite at Wanderland (also hoping for no red cards though!!!)
