Does the sale of the club have impact on our signings or re-signings?

Are we trying to pay less for players which means less overheads, meaning a more attractive sale price?

No, that would only affect the marquee player,

The salary cap is $2.5million and that's the same amount of money that we get from the FFA from the tv money

I suspect that if he has gone then the most likely candidate for the A-League club to pick him up would be Perth (for no other reason than they probably will apply a quick fix no matter the cost), or Newcastle. The Jets are likely IMO as I think he has got some solid friendships down this way and I wonder if he would be willing to go too far away whilst staying in Oz.

He's supposedly good mates with Sidnei at Glory from his Cypress days. He's the one that got Sidnei out here.

Perth weren't willing to sign Sidnei based on a Youtube clip.

And they also weren't prepared to fork out the money needed to fly Sidnei across to Perth for a trial.

So on the advice of Western Sydney Wanderers import Youssouf Hersi, Sidnei paid his own way over to Perth in June.

The rest, as they say, is history.

didn't hersi play cf back when he was in holland? would be interesting to see how he plays a more central role. just need someone to supply them perfect through balls to our fwds.

I think the club is slowly getting rid of the marquee's and saving the cash instead investing in youth and locals who have the potential, but unfortunately lack the skill of the marquees.

I don't think so....

I think they want value for money signings and are willing to splash the cash if they are good enough. I don't buy the idea that the money if for youth players but maybe other Australians that can fit the bill.

The off season will be very interesting, in popa we trust!

He used to play CF but sometimes Hersi's passes themselves aren't as good as we'd expect. If he did play CF, he'd be less effective for sure. Rather Shinji there, has better touch, passing and vision.

Immense tonight.

Notice how friendly the Perth boys were with him?? :(

Well if you had choice between being mates with someone who actually has ability and doesn't act like a complete **** as per Mr Burns, why wouldn't you welcome our smiling assassin

I haven't seen anything in the media so was his exclusion from the squad on Saturday night due to injury?

Yes.

Someone I know was speaking to him pre game & YH indicated that he'd pick up an injury on trip to Japan

Yeah even if he was fit and Popa wanted to rest him for the Roar game he'd still have been on the bench in case we were desperate. It was too important a game to leave him out all together.

Thank you.

Not only for the goal, but that touch to Polenz who delivered the ball to Santa was delightful.

You may be leaving, but there is still glory to be had here. Go get it.

Pretty much confirmed that he's leaving.

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/news/1188048/Hersi-s-desire-to-leave-Wanderers-in-style

The 31-year-old former Ajax star admits he wanted to stay at the Wanderers but could not agree terms with the club, which was reportedly unwilling to offer the more than $500,000 contract he requested.

Hersi says the biggest drawcard at his new club was the certainty that came with his new two-year deal, with Western Sydney only willing to sign him for a year at a time.

"I don't want to leave but when two sides can't agree it's hard, but you have to leave you have to go on with your life," he said.

"I've signed already and I know where I'm going."

"But I'm still with the Wanderers now so I want to end my time here with a good story and lift the trophy and continue in the ACL."

Bugger...he's been coming back into form the last few rounds and certainly still has a big attachment to the fans and his team mates (if not the bean counters at WSWHQ).

500k is marquee level wages. No wonder the club didn't want to re-sign him.

100% agree, this crap that he wanted 2 and WSW wouldn't give it to him, I'd be willing to shout whoever a beer that he will be paid top dollar on a two year contract wherever he is going and that was the point of difference rather than the length!

Needs his last big pay cheque.

He should just throw matches when he plays us... or a least be injured.
