So i'm really not liking our chances of hanging onto Hersi, apparently he has been looking at a possible career change into acting, who would have guessed? anyways here's the trailer of his new movie where he stars alongside Tom Hanks.

The first thing I thought when I saw the trailer on TV a few days ago was, "When did Hersi start acting?"

Who gives a f*ck about that.

How's his foot ?

We will miss Hersi if he is injured. Hope he signs for two more years. The guy will run all day if he has to.

Does anyone else think (and hope) that the current rumblings by Hersi and Ono are purely designed to scare the club into action?

They are genuine about wanting to end their careers here. It is a tough decision as if you give them a multi year deal now it might put them in a comfort zone. This might backfire. I am sure other clubs are chasing them as well so we have to be careful not to leave it too long either. I want to keep them both for two more years. I honestly think they are both guns in our side and so important to our attack.

They are genuine about wanting to end their careers here. It is a tough decision as if you give them a multi year deal now it might put them in a comfort zone. This might backfire. Its a no brainer. You re-sign them both and get it done before the end of the year. Give them 2 years each, both are happy, club happy, fans happy. I certainly don't think they will all of a sudden turn sh1t if you sign them for 2 years. They are both dedicated professionals and are important players for our club. The risk to signing them is minimal. I think there is more risk if we don't sign them.

His brother Mo posted this on twitter today - thank you for that! Its just a bone bruise . We hope for a quick recovery !

I hope that article wakes up club management that both Hersi and Shinji are to be signed!

I don't get how Mark Bridge and others got a 3 year extension before those guys! 

And Hersi even commented about it

maybe the club (FFA) wants to cash in our marquees. Im sure there will be a bidding war within the A league and possibly asia/europe for their services. Lets hope sooner rather than later it can be sorted out so players can rest assured and concentrate on their football.

You don't want to sign a player like Bosscart was, for 4 years and then have to release him halfway through it and pay him out because he was injured for half of it.

Other clubs have been really stupid with their long term signings. Giving players 4 years based off nothing at all and then they hardly feature and were taking up valuable cap space.

At the moment the FFA is running the club - maybe sh it is going on behind the scenes with a new buyer.

yer rumours are constorium from Indonesia are deep into discussions with FFA and soon new owner will be announced. I think the derby spectacle and the highlight of us being able to make ACL profitable for future Wanderers buyers due to our loyal fan base has got us over the edge.

They better do something before transfer period.I can see a few Asian clubs eyeing him off and we know Shinji is already wanted by one team in j-league. At least 1year extension before any new ownership should be a done deal.

The way I see it is that they are our two most important players in our team terms of potency. You take them two out of our team and to me we are no better than Melbourne Heart. Bridge seems to have lost what he had last year. Juric is taking a bit of time to settle in. Santalab looks dangerous, but we still have to see a bit more of him.

I think if you did some kind of research into how all our goals are scored, you will find that around 75-80% of our goals come from at least having one of them two contribute. Yes they have been injury prone in the past, but I fear if we release them next year and don't get adequate replacements we will be sliding down the table. I think giving them two more years each here to finish off their careers (at least Shinji anyway) is well worth the risk. By then hopefully some of the younger players will be able to step up.

Without Hersi setting up Juric, we would have lost to CCM.

It's all very murky without the presumptive or substantive new owners in place, and the obvious conflict between a player who is of high value to the club right now versus a manager who has pulled all the right levers when it comes to personnel since the Wanderers' inception (after all, when many of us would've loved to have seen Ballack, Popa knew what he wanted, got Shinji and has worked with him almost perfectly since then...on current evidence Popa knows what he is doing). I look at a team like the Roar who have two of their best o/s players now in their fourth season (i.e Berisha and Broich) and wonder if what they have achieved with 2 GF wins then a semi-final reflective of the long term quality of these marquees, or more a reflection of the overall strength of the squad. If one can assume Popa and the squad can still stay as good as they have been since say round 4 last season for another couple of seasons then I would say yes, let's keep Hersi and Shinji around as long as possible. On the other hand, if there is a successful transition from perhaps Mooy and Appiah-Kubi into the two o/s players' roles then we shouldn't be afraid of regeneration. I'm glad none of us have the responsibility for such a hard decision.

I dont like this speaking to media tanty, he is great player for wanderers no one doubts that.

Popa knows what he is doing, im sure he knows the importance of Hersi & Shinji to Wanderers but its round 4 of the season, still plenty of time.

No worries...always happy to confess ignorance regarding Berisha (ignorance seems to be the modus vivendi for that so & so)

I think we should just trust Popa on this he hasn't let us down yet. The reality is that both are quite old, injury prone and probably have the biggest contracts at the club. The other boys probably had already got their contract extensions because you can guarantee they will be around for some time and probably earn substantially less. I think once we sought out our ownership and can see that these guys are in good health they should most definitely get their extension. I'm all for extending their contracts and seeing them retire here would be amazing just trying to look at it from the other side of the fence.

For all we know hersi could be pushing for a massive pay rise he obviously knows he is a top ten player in this league and perhaps wants reflection of this.

In a salary capped league you will always lose some players, hopefully hersi isn't one.

Time will tell and either way Popa always has plan a b c and d

Remember that Brisbane lost a chance at a real dynasty because the FFA didn't give Ange a proper contract, it was a handshake job, and he quit to go join Melbourne.
