    Squad Development 2018/19 Part 2

Aussies do not count as visa players for Wellington (it is the A-League, so it would be counter-intuitive to the domestic league to restrict any number of spots for our own players). Right now they have at least 10 non-Kiwi players if you include the Australians (Lowry, Burns, Williams Golec, Burgess) and overseas players (Taylor, Sheridan, Kurto, etc.)

If that is to replace spots currently filled by Risdon and Llorente, not too bad. Hopefully he is not seen as our starting RB and we play him more on the left, as I would like to see Russell continue in that role.
  3. Front 4 looks ok. That's about all that I can say
  4. It is just a shame we have been conditioned to expect far less

Around the Bloc Podcast Season 7

Love and appreciate the work you guys put in to the pod every week, and it is usually a highlight, but I had to turn this week's one off halfway through

    Football Books

I know there is already a thread for books/literature, but I'm looking specifically for books related to football. So far I've read the recent "A-League 10 year tumultuous history" book and I also enjoyed fever pitch by Nick Hornby. I'm currently reading Ange's book too. I'm getting back into reading but only really interested in football atm. Any recommendations?

    2018/19 Injury Status

Relieved to hear he didn't just rate Elrich higher as a CB. Can't believe he starts every week. Shows you the utter lack of depth in our squad (apart from the wing).

    Andrew Redmayne

We need to be looking at our GK development and coaching. The fact that Redmayne and Vedran have practically swapped spots and GK ability has followed accordingly is worrying.

    Squad Development 2018/19 Part 2

If that's the case I would expect it to be a 1.5 year contract, as some reported Yeboah signed on 3 years even though it was actually 2.5 (some can't deal with decimals or fractions). I wouldn't sign in Jan for a club with a free spot but make it only for next season on and have 6 months off with no pay. Doesn't make sense for the player or the club.
  10. Andy Harper is such a tool. He tries so hard to be impartial that he ends up talking utter nonsense.
  11. That article by Bossi will get revealed as a smokescreen too. The real reason is much more sensitive and controversial according to player sources.
  12. Scored a banger only to immediately concede through sloppy defending. Am I watching the Socceroos or the Wanderers?
  13. Not sure Maclaren's goal last game was enough to justify his starting position...

    2018/19 Injury Status

Presumably he is fit and just hasn't forced his way back into the first team yet.
  15. The nerve on those blokes trying to start a F*** the FFA chant

He just ran a lot. He has never been able to cross or defend. I don't know why we released Clisby and kept him.

    Wanderers Outgunned By Arsenal

I couldn't agree more. I would love to force Popa to watch a "Jumpei cam" and see exactly what he does during a game. We need to start a petition to get Jumpei's contract mutually terminated.

    Squad Development 2016/17 Part 2

    A) How do you figure that he is more experienced? Roughly the same age, Matt Sim actually has more A-league caps. B) They play different positions. C) If we needed to play someone just for a free kick then play Shannon Cole. D) Why do I even bother? I'll go with A thanks Eddie, given that he did play against one of our potential opponents last night in China Then have a chat to him and see if he knows anything worthwhile. There's a reason he played them in a friendly on a Wednesday instead of training for the weekend game Or better yet let's just sign Sydney United for the ACL and give them another crack

Around the Bloc S05E16: Brissed Off

The ball was at his feet. If he doesn't hand it to the player then they write an article about Popa being a cheat. If he isn't even there, the Brisbane player picks up the ball just as quick (they aren't that heavy) and nothing changes. The 2 most dangerous things in that video is the goal kick going straight out turning over possession and the crocodile attempt at a catch. Edit: In other words, I agree.

    Squad Development 2016/17 Part 2

My best guess is that McDonald is being seen as playing the 2nd striker role, as we are already targeting a #9 for next season & beyond They were probably all blinded by the balding melon of Matt Sim in the foreground in this image & failed to ask who the other player was. #Fools That is literally what happened. I was blinded in a fit of rage!

    Squad Development 2016/17 Part 2

The point of signing him may not be to have him replace everyone else but share the load. Santa barely lasts 90, definitely not 2 weeks in a row and Scott is still young and learning. Take us from 1 to 2 games per week and we will need more than 2 strikers. There is nothing wrong with having 3 strikers in a squad of 26 that plays in 2 competitions! I hope we only sign him if he is a Australian citizen by then. Not worth a foreign spot otherwise.Pretty sure he becomes a citizen soon. Was playing in Dulwich Hill in Sydney (2012) for a season before he joined Adelaide. 5 years for citizenship? Began at Adelaide in 2012/13 season. Come the 2017/18 season he will reach the 5 year nationalisation mark
