  1. Around the Bloc: OTB (Over the Bridge) Episode 1 Welcome to the first episode of ATB: Over the Bridge. Stephen and Josh get together to discuss where Popa is taking the team and where the Wanderers need to recruit in January to be competitive in both the A-League and the AFC Champions League. This is Around the Bloc. 2. Around The Bloc: S05E26: Sent Auff Western Sydney’s mediocre season has finally come to an end at the hands of Brisbane Roar. We talk of what went right, and what obviously went wrong, and what we should have done. There’s football, tv quotes, one of the team says farewell, and the whole team says goodbye for another season – this is the final episode of Around the Bloc for 2016-17. 3. Around The Bloc: S05E25: Youth Tube™ Whatever happened in round 27, we were going to get an away final so Popa decided to mix youth, experience, and Ryan Griffiths for his team lineup. In the end, it was a hard fought second half which produced a 2-2 draw, putting us up against the Roar – meaning we’ll have played them in every finals series we’ve participated in. A win there would have the FFA covered in more ectoplasm than Randy Marsh, knowing they’ll take all the ticket earnings from a Sydney Derby semi. 4. Around The Bloc: S05E24: Pleading For Fifth A fairly dull draw secured our spot in this years finals series so we look at how Popa’s famous rotation policy may or may not be in full effect. We also consider the fact that there may be one more Sydney Derby left this season, discuss the upcoming visit from Arsenal (minus all the good players) and Nova talks about (and is probably still talking about) his feelings on the 6 team finals series. Toilet seat, indeed. 5. Around The Bloc: S05E22: Plus Won If the week leading up to Sunday was to be any indication of the game, it would have been dull and boring, but with the sunshine brought a bright outcome to the end of the weekend as we finally, finally, won a home game at Spotless brushing aside the Nix. Some ATB members have been MIA since our win, but Nick and Tats weren’t left alone as our very own very good plus one from over the bridge came to assist. This is Around the Bloc. 6. Around The Bloc: S05E23: Corn With It Captain Cornthwaite was pretty close to repeating Santa’s three goal haul as the Wanderers picked up a third win in a row against the Jets. With a new found momentum, enthusiasm and ability to actually find the back of the net, will Popa’s words about winning the grand final be replayed more often than ‘Holy Diver’ during A-League ad breaks, or simply become another forgotten soundbyte? 7. Around The Bloc: S05E21: Harry Popa AKA Harry Popa and the Philosophy’s Stuffed The game this week didn’t provide a whole lot of talking points (at least none that haven’t been discussed to within an inch, or centimetre, of their lives) so we went all Q and A – ATB Style. Thanks to everyone for your questions! This is Around the Bloc . 8. Around The Bloc: S05E20: Perthetic The hangover from the derby included a 4-0 and a 2-0 loss to Urawa and Perth respectively. Needless to say, the joy after our first win in Homebush was short lived, and we get to thinking about what we, as fans and consumers of this product, expect from the club we support. With a tough game against Shanghai and then returning to play bottom placed Adelaide, it could be a long couple of months leading to the end of the season – unless things change for the better. 9. Around The Bloc: S05E19: Vincible Saturday night was one for the ages – the streak was broken, the unbeatable were beaten, Santalab seemingly changed his entire temperament in the course of a week, and even a one-eyed monster could see what it meant to the WSW players. Of course, the aftermath of the game has not been without controversy and whether it’s Chris Beath, Alex Brosque, the FFA or a painted piece of fabric – all the talk has revolved around giant dicks. 10. Around The Bloc: S05E18: Strike Farce The performance on the weekend left a bad taste in many Wanderers fans’ mouths, and got us thinking that the problems at the club are deeper than simply what’s happening on the pitch. After airing our grievances (is it Festivus yet?) we try to maintain some form of optimism about the upcoming derby, with a bit of success, and wonder if Popa is just pulling our collective leg. 11. Around The Bloc: S05E17: Piss Fartin' Around That winning feeling returned to the lives of the Wanderers players and fans in the unlikely setting of New Plymouth, despite the best efforts of the referee and linesman to do their business on our clean sheets. We’re only one game away from the final derby of the regular season and we’ve got one hurdle to overcome in the Central Coast Mariners – but they’ll be looking for their 3rd win on the trot so we’ll be finding ways to show that kebabs > fish and chips. 12. Around The Bloc: S05E15: Lach'd & Loaded WSW Youth prodigy Lachlan Scott has scored his first A-League goal (his 3rd in competitive top tier fixtures at Campbelltown) and, along with a spine of other WSW youth, helped us along to our first win in what feels like a lifetime. And while Nova lost his lid, and the lack of EFTPOS facilities at Campbelltown was the difference between Kennedy having a delicious chicken roll and going hungry, the ground remains a fortress for WSW who have now won 3 out of 3 competitive fixtures there. A visit to Brisbane looms, and while Lang Park is a similarly tough place to beat the home team, the travelling RBB will be out in full force on their tour of duty. 13. Around The Bloc: S05E16: Brissed Off A late goal from Brett Holman sealed our fate as Brisbane scored yet another late winner, which led to plenty of discussion post-game about whether Tony Popovic still has a place at the club. Has he got the full support of the board? Or will he remain at WSW? We then move onto the geography of New Zealand and work out where our next game is, and how to get there – then, with as much confidence as Popa had in stating that we’ll win this years Grand Final, we all decide that we’ll flog the Nix. 14. Around the Bloc S05E14: Snakes on a Player While the Cove didn’t approve of our new signing, Janjetovic is fast becoming an extremely important part of our squad, whilst managing to win over fans – if not with his football, with his million dollar grin. After a somewhat positive derby result, we also look forward to our game at Fortress Campbelltown and hope to make amends for giving up a lead against the Jets earlier in the season. 15. Around the Bloc S05E13: Franjic, Flukes, and Other F Words After a couple of weeks off, the ATB team return to status quo – the squad isn’t firing, we still haven’t won, and now we’re about to play our biggest rivals who haven’t lost a game. So while we’re not looking forward to the immediate future, we do consider our options and talk about food a fair bit to cheer ourselves up. This is Around the Bloc. 16. Around the Bloc S04E07: Red and Black Friday Technical difficulties didn’t stop the podcast tonight, just like City, Victory and Mariners couldn’t stop the A, W, and Y league teams on the weekend. With less controversy than a marquee striker’s first goal, but more excitement than his celebration, this is Around the Bloc. 17. Around the Bloc S05E12: Drawckland Another round, another draw for the Wandrawers. Some good goals, some bad mistakes, and a whole heap of barbecued meat were on the menu for yet another frustrating (and yet delicious) weekend of football for us westies. In other news, the worst kept secret in the A-League – the signing of super villain, Vedran Janjetovic – became confirmed and he fired a few parting shots. Reactions were mixed but time will tell us whether he flops or fires for his new club. This is Around the Bloc. 18. Around the Bloc S05E11: 1+9=3-0 Some will say our maths is as bad as our goalkeeper, or as good as Victory’s main man up front. That was the difference between a number 1 and a number 9 that led to our third loss of the season after 10 rounds. With Brendan and Steve getting the treatment, a regular voice was made host and another Uruguayan was in Ivan’s place. 19. Around the Bloc S05E10: Jer-Red Tyson A red for our main meant Redmayne regained while our main remained shamed and will miss a game, but was he to blame? ‘Ball all day’ you could hear him say as he marched away and made way for another Kalac protégée who may head faraway in Januar…ay. 20. Around the Bloc S05E09: Fortress Spotless Winless and lossless at our new home ground, we’re renaming our team to be the Wandrawers – another point to add to our slowly growing total. Despite our lacklustre results, we still manage to compare our team to both of those that play in El Clasico, as well as Liverpool, so rest assured – we are still as one eyed as ever! 21. Around the Bloc S05E08: Clouded Vi$ion Kerem ‘Cloud’ Bulut produced one of the greatest goal celebrations in our short history, but it was not to be as a legitimate goal was called offside in a tense draw with Cahill City. The result of the next game against Brisbane is as unpredictable as the kit they’ll be wearing, with both teams inconsistent in their form so far. This is Around the Bloc. 22. Around the Bloc S05E07: Borda Insecurity If you’re anything like us, your happiness rollercoastered from about 80% to 99% to 0% within about 45 minutes on Saturday night. A struggling defence couldn’t keep up with Victory’s competent attack and we were put on show. Of course we also look forward to playing Melbourne City this weekend, who have been quiet at best this season… haven’t they? This is Around the Bloc. 23. Around the Bloc S05E06: Not Perthect A point away from home that felt hard earned, rather than 2 points lost, was a new feeling for us Wanderers fans this week, and it involved the quintessential Santalab experience – a goal and a yellow card. We look towards our next fixture, away against Melbourne Victory, and what we’ll need to do to stop the Kiwi Messi, the Albanian Salesman and the eerie sound of silence coming from where the home fans used to stand. 24. Around the Bloc S05E05: The Ghost of Sotirio's Arse A little negativity has seeped into the mindset of the Wanderers fan base and the team discuss why that could be. The football is the obvious choice after the weekends disappointing 1-1 draw, and after that we try to look at the positives leading into this weeks game away to Perth. 25. Around the Bloc S05E04: Finders (New) Keepers The talking points weren’t exactly positive after our first game at the showground, after letting a 2 goal lead quite literally slip through our fingers, ending up with just a point. With that behind us though, we return to our new Wanderland this Saturday for a game against a team we should beat… Should. This is Around the Bloc.
