StillWandering Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) It has probably remained a secret as it's a privatier entry by Erebus racing and isn't directly linked to AMG or Mercedes. I'll be a whole lot more interested in the V8's next year with nissans and mercs on the grid. Also love the fact that they are using modified versions of their own production V8's. Should add a great aural aspect to the racing! Edited September 20, 2012 by StillWandering
Neverbloom Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 i did not know Erebus racing would be involved personally i am not a fan of Merc's amazing cars and i bet they will do well but their cars are too clinical, too sterile if that makes sense
Benched Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm on an international motorsport forum and have befriended a team owner of the V8's. He told me this was going to happen months ago.

Benched Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Nah it's not Paul Morris. Would love to tell you but I can't. I can say tho that it's a Holden team.
Neverbloom Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) lol its all good as long as its not paul morris then its all good cant stand that guy plus holden is better than ford i am more a fan of drivers though, i first started watching v8's when skaife and craig were in the same team dominating everything that is the only reason i favor holden Edited September 20, 2012 by TheGoatOfDoom

Lol, i have a mate who works for the V8 supercars and he also confirmed with me months ago that this was happening. Excellent thing for the sport I reckon. Whilst some 'die hards' think it's going to distract from the attraction of the Holden VS Ford mentality I reckon it will bring a lot more fans to the sport. Also with them adding more international races the sport is looking very strong.

Davo Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 The provisional calendar for next year's F1 season has been released here. The Australian GP is on 15-17 of March and Valencia has been dropped to add the new race in New Jersey which looks like it's going to be awesome. Also from a Wanderers perspective it's interesting. We play Melbourne Heart away on the 16th so there's a potential away trip there for motorsport fans although there is one sticking point. Qualifying last year was from 5-6pm on the Saturday and the Heart match kicks off at 5:30pm. The FFA had no way of knowing exactly when the GP would be so I'm hoping common sense will prevail and they move the match to something like a 7:30pm kick off to allow fans to get from the track to AAMI Park. Maybe we should add #NOTOHEARTF1CLASH to our #NOTOANZ campaign.
Neverbloom Posted September 22, 2012 Author Posted September 22, 2012 thanks i am actually kinda sad if Valencia is gone i know it was hated and all and produced some very crappy races but the last race at that circuit was amazing there are worse circuits on the calendar but i am really excited for both american formula one circuits i know it wouldnt happen in a million years but i would love australia's formula one track to be mount panorama just wondering does anyone know what is happening with Avalon airport? there was something about it being turned into a world class race track that could host formula one or something but i dont know if its happening

Benched Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Lowndesy is already saying the roo's are a problem this year. Let's hope we don't have another 'rock' incident, albeit with a roo.
Neverbloom Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Lowndesy is already saying the roo's are a problem this year. Let's hope we don't have another 'rock' incident, albeit with a roo. me neither and i am very pro animals so i dont want to see a kangaroo hurt i remember once there was a roo in the middle of the track and about 5 cars headed towards it(on the top of the mountain) and they all managed to miss the kangaroo that was amazing(but scary) also apparently a formula ford driver was taken to hospital i really hope he is alright it doesnt sound too serious hopefully no crashes like that, it was a very brutal crash(not going to show the porter crash out of respect for him)
Davo Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I went up to Bathurst on the Friday and I was on the entry to McPhillamy when the Formula Ford crash happened. We saw him start to lose the car then disappear around the corner. Looked up at the big screen just in time to see him get cleaned up by the next car to arrive. There's an article about it here. Apparently the following driver broke his arm. Here's the crash.

Apparently the following driver broke his arm. Here's the crash. glad both drivers are alright, it was a horrid crash and i was really worried when i heard that both drivers were transported to hospital by helicopter(at least one was) On the V8 supercar race, just wow i was hoping jamie wouldnt do well(nothing against him just want a very close championship) and it was such an exciting race, David reynolds really should have won though he had pretty much everything in his favour just couldnt quite get there On Formula one Grosjean is such a talent he really needs to get rid of the stupid mistakes and he could be a talent, really happy daniel managed to get a point too, he has not had the best season but the past few races he has gone really well and i would say he was the driver of the race and feel bad for Webber, he deserved better and really happy for Massa too i am glad he got a good result On NASCAR, i only saw "that crash" but wow i am glad no one was hurt, Ambrose really had no where to go though too bad he deserved a good result too he was going wel, nice to see Tony Stewart was able to take them blame though, shows some class which i didnt think he had really excited for Surfers Paradise
Neverbloom Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 sorry for the double post, really happy what happened to finger boy in quali though, will be interesting to see him try to fight his way through the field, also hope daniel can beat his team mate this race(he usually does but vergne has the tyre advantage this race)

ATP Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Kimis always been a dour **** but good on him, his bank balance would be smiling all the way!
Davo Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 (edited) i wonder if kimi ever cracked a smile when he won the race I loved his quote in the post race press conference when Coulthard asked him how he felt after winning a GP. "Last time you guys was giving me sh1t because I didn't really smile enough, so maybe this time again "Also in the later press conference he was asked how long he would celebrate for. "I have almost two weeks. As long as I manage to get myself to the next race I think the team is happy. I try to get home at some point. "Plus his radio conversations with his engineers were awesome. Edited November 5, 2012 by Davo
Neverbloom Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 lol from what i have heard kimi has a personality he just doesnt show it i cant believe Shane Van Gisbergen is leaving V8's i also heard that james courtney is going to race for BMW in DTM.......interesting times ahead

Davo Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The Monte Carlo WRC round is on at the moment. No idea what channel, if any they show it on. Apparently they tried a new company for the event timing and they've been buggering everything up. They had the top 10 all out of order, their emergency system said Loeb had crashed or stopped on track when he was driving along no worries and the plane they use as a backup for timing was parked at an airport that got snowed in.
