March for the semi final 12/4

Recommended Posts

Heres the run-down of the march for the semi, needless to say this result wasn't easy to get, so don't stuff it up for eveyone.

March is at 6pm, and we are walking along marsden street. This has to be exact, I don't want to see anyone disregarding this and moving earlier because frankly I don't care how many posts you have or how awesome your collection of polo shirts are. We move at 6pm. Don't walk in front of the cop car which will be at the front of the march as it is the pace-setter.

We are on marsden street and will be forming up on the road outside the woolpack's backgate (On Marsden Street between Macquarie and George).

If you or your mates are planning on walking along church street. Don't.

I don't need to remind you of why we are no longer on church street, but I will remind you to be on your best behaviour, the fact you are in a march with other wanderers fans going to a football match is not license to carry on like a dickhead. The laws of the state of NSW obviously still apply so anyone with flares or behaving like an idiot will be dealt with by cops. If there are media there just continue chanting and ignore them, don't give them anymore footage to use against us.

For this one we will need volunteer marshals like standard so meet near the backgate at the woolpack. Please show respect to the marshals, if a marshal tells you to do something you should do it.

Stadium security will probably take a little longer than usual so expect delays entering the stadium.

Above all try to have a good time, I know this post may sound condescending but too many people are coming on the march and leaving their brains at home. Parramatta is our home ground, treat it like it is.

Oh, and Ian forgot to mention one little thing. The Police are closing both lanes of traffic the whole length of Marsden Street. We're marching on the road the whole way!

This needs posting on Facebook. My guess is that the dickheads are mostly there, especially the Red and Black Bloc page, and are unaware of this forum

Yeah I agree, FB'ing could be a good idea.

Excellent news we have the march - thanks again to all the guys who worked to get this victory for us (only the first of the day im sure!)

Man, I can see it now, the length of Marsden st all black n red. Will be like that Gosford pic on steroids! Let's hope somehow a semi-aerial shot can be taken of it!

Cant wait!

Should some marshalls maybe form a barrier at the front kinda thing to make sure idiots don't run ahead of the cop car to get a spot?

It will be shared far and wide mate, I suspect the dickhead factor on this forum is very low also, but you never know who reads this.

One other thing that came up was an issue with tickets, if you have a ticket for North Terrace/RBB and your entrance gate is not gate C you need to Immediately tell the security at the gate and they will escort you into the RBB end. You won't be able to move between the various sections of the stadium due to all the gates being locked.

Sounds like you already got a semi.

We are going to need 20 marshals for this one. We will be under a lot of scrutiny and the way the march will be organised and marshalled will be a little different to previous marches. If you want to help marshal you are very welcome but will need to be at the Woolpack no later than 5.45pm for a briefing and to get into position.

Let us know via this thread if you want to help so we can compile a list of names.

I'm definitely keen, ended up marshaling at Newcastle and would like to do It again, let me know if required =]

Another chain with the core boys up front like in Newcastle perhaps? It helped us in the band so no one overtook us...

Share the word around the Woolie as well, I can see the randoms flocking for this one.

The arrangements are in place and were discussed at the meeting with the police and club last night.

We have a matchday committee and meetings for a reason. Let's not turn this thread into a 'we should do this, we should do that' like so many other facepalm threads on this forum. Making suggestions after agreements have been made and signed off  is a pointless exercise. If anyone has suggestions or input regarding matchday activities feel free to PM either me (Police & Security), Ian (March and Marshals), or BigDukes (Stadium and Active Support).

And that wasn't having a go at you in any way Nick, just happened to be your comment I had at hand to quote

Ian.  I'm in for marshalling brother.  I'll keep an eye out for yourself or John at the Woolpack.

Because I'm coming from work and I imagine other marshalls will be coming from work, can we centralise the meeting point outside as we may be denied entrance to the Woolpack.

Yeah I understand, there's always an arrangement that's been made, yet people still think it's a "yeah we're marching, let's do it whichever way we feel like" .. turds.

You guys all put the hard yards in, if only people listened and followed instructions :(

Hopefully, with what we have in place, we'll look more like a red and black army than a rabble

Just out of interest, Is Victoria road section of the march going to be closed on both sides of the road?

No just westbound only traffic will be stopped and blocked off (so 1 lane essentially)

All roads that intersect with marsden street will also be blocked off

We will stop on the Bernie Banton bridge to do the usual little chant and continue again.

I can not stress enough how important that this occurs without any hiccups

Also - please note that there will be high police presence within the RBB up until kick off at which point police will leave and stadium security will take over patrolling the aisles. They wish to start cleaning that up as it gets jamp packed

Mate, you just hit on the tricky bit which is why I need to brief you all before the march. As we left wheel into Victoria Rd we will have the footpath and the left lane closed. The eastbound lane will be open to traffic. We need to redeploy the marshals during WDWSF? at the bridge to cover it. Trust me, I have a plan man!

Mack - can you please pin this thread. it is very important all members read

Pinned.

Great to hear the march is on. Will be very important that no randoms break off and walk down church street. Marshalls need to be vigilent there.

Good luck.

Just more reassuring evidence that we are blessed with so many individuals that are sensible, and that the future for the Wanderers from a fan base perspective is set to thrive...great work for all those involved..we should see ourselves all as marshals , by demonstrating and modelling the kind of behaviour we expect from others, based on mutual respect blended with Western Sydney style passion....The Wanderers show has come to town for all the right reasons, we are very fortunate in so many ways..lets hope Rod is watching down over his team and convinces the big fella up stairs to let us wipe the floor with Brisbane...
