  • Ante Milicic joins West Sydney as Assistant Manager

    mack

Ante Milicic has joined his good friend and manager Tony Popovic at Western Sydney.

It was reported that the deal is similar to the 4 year deal Popovic received. He rejected a 5 year contract offered by Brisbane Roar.

Telegraph is today reporting that Ante is still on contract with Heart until August and perhaps can't move to WS until then. But negotiations are likely to be done to help Ante get out ASAP.

What on earth are Heart playing at lol. They were so eager to be the first to get a press release out saying he was leaving for Western Sydney. 7 days later he's staying until August.

The funniest thing is that even if he stays until August, he'll still be on the phone to popa everyday while still being paid by Heart. So we will essentially be getting an assistant that Heart will be paying for. These Mexicans are so generous.

Plus, add to that all the inside information on how Heart are playing/formation/combinations etc...

Maybe Ante decided to give his bosses a spray prior to leaving. Then later realised his bosses hadn't yet let him go :nea:

I suspect it might be abit of gamesmanship from us (MH) to try and milk the FFA of a few dollars for whatever is remaining on Ante's contract.

Agree with most of you though, not a good look for our club to be trying this.

I tried to find a post of mine to copy and paste here but don't know where it went, so apologies for repeating myself to some.

Heart are being pricks but more so stupid. Whoever runs the club needs a bum kicking. Ante is going to start pre season with the Heart, exposing him to the recruitment, strategy, strengths and weakness, structure Aloisi is enforcing etc, and then bring all that knowledge to West Sydney. Talk about cut your nose off to spite your face.

They probably won't have him do anything at all. Just sit at home or in the office in limbo

Whilst skyping Popa on a daily basis.

At which point he'd resign saying they have effectively sacked/released him from his contracted duties as assistant manager.

I wonder how money they can claim for a guy leaving with 3 months left on his contract.

apprently he didnt even do to well at heart, from what I heard he was very unorganised.

then that makes it even more wierd that they want to keep him for another 3 months (or until aloisi gets back or they appoint an assistant manager).

Not really, it seems they're doing it to spite us (fair enough) or make a point

More to do with Lyall Gormless not having the foresight or common decency to call Scott Munn at Heart and bother to negotiate an earlier release. So Heart have every right to enforce Ante's 3 month notice period, putting popa and WS even further behind the 8-ball.

BTW, this was all within a fortnight of rumoured FFA communication to the other clubs asking them for the going rate of Assistant Coaches ......

The sooner you are rid of Gorman, the better for WS and the entire HAL.

FFA have cut him loose and transferred his salary obligations (400k) to WSFC, Very generous of them. :P

It will be up to the new owner / community (should they be the majority owner of the club) to determine who will be the CEO Y2 / Y3 and beyond.

didnt Munn come out and say ante was going, even before anything was official?

and now he decided to enforce the 3 month period.

I dont know why a club would want to keep an assistant there, who is not going to be there at the start of the season, who will see how the heart train and set up taking this with him to WS. i could understand if they want him there for pre season until aloisi gets back or they appoint another assistant, but other than that i cant really see any reason, other than being small minded, for keeping ante there.

Also in that press release, Ron Corry has been named GK coach with Trevor Morgan named NYL coach. John Tsatsimas has also been named GM of Football Operations.
