FIFA will announce the ticketing strategy for the 2014 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ this Friday (19 July 2013) in Brazil. Fans will find out all details and information on Ticketing for the tournament next year.

 

As of 15:30 CET (10:30 local time), a news conference with Local Organising Committee CEO Ricardo Trade, FIFA Marketing Director Thierry Weil, Deputy Sports Minister Luis Fernandes and the two time FIFA World Cup champion Cafu will be broadcast live on FIFA.com

Thanks for that.

 

Booking my flights in the next couple of weeks. Seems I have some friends who thought it was an awesome idea and are now flaking, so I'll probably be flying solo.

 

I'm still torn between staying in Rio for the month or travelling around.....

Rio will of course be the most expensive fr accommodation - try search on hosted home stay to save $$$ and a more authentic cultural experience

 

another good option fr base is nearby Belo Horizonte which is far more relaxed than Rio and much cheaper to stay

The separate PMA Supporters allocation through FFA and linked to FIFA portal for applications from 8 Dec is a better way to apply for Australian group games and option for conditional on progression to R16 etc - this will be 8% of stadiums for our fans - there's no need to rush in with any applications, even first stage doesn't close until mid Oct and every applications regardless of date received has an equal chance of securing tix.

Heads up:

Interview with Pablo Bateson on SBS TV News @ approx 6-50pm tonight (Thursday)

World Cup tix debacle involving very many St George/Westpac Mastercard customers, some of the 88,000 Australians that applied for tickets in Stage 1 Random draw stage - many could well miss out (including myself) after being allocated tickets only for transactions from FIFA being declined as potentially fraudulent merchant - applications get cancelled if second attempt fails which has already happened to many

This is becoming an international issue, with Mastercard and Visa to try and sort out with FIFA at higher level

In tonight's SBS News, Westpac said that "five other fans (customers) affected" - there are many more, perhaps into the hundreds potentially affected

 

PR spin etc not going to resolve this issue

 

Meanwhile record or near record profits in last year for all major banks

I also heard today from one fan travelling around, currently in Nepal, who just rang one of banks affected - he had TST7 tix which included WC final - imagine missing out on that!

 

I need a huge dose of the Wanderers tomorrow night to provide the best therapy !!

Yeah the bank's will probably claim that it proves their fraud protection systems are working.

I got an email from FIFA this morning and I got so excited. All it was is that they're extending this period until 10 Nov :(

one of our "independientes" group got TST7 tix so includes WC final !

 

the abovementioned credit card block issue involving Westpac still not fully resolved for customers affected - communications by Mastercard and Visa with FIFA, so hopefully we'll hear back soon

I got debited $647 from my account by FIFA yesterday but haven't received an email or anything, and my ticket status is still "pending" on the website.

 

I hope I've got them!

I guess that they cant take the money out without the tickets, but this is fifa we are talking about.

Should check the small print.

 

I applied for a venue ticket so will hopefully see all the group games and a R16 match in Rio.

congrats on getting "high demand" VSTs fr Rio - my own in dispute are also VSTs

 

you should expect a follow up email frm FIFA Ticketing no later than 10 Nov to confirm yr tix

Pablo good luck with the tickets.

 

I can empathise after my experience for Germany 2006.

Despite applying (at exactly 9am) for 1st come 1st served tickets I missed out.

I went anyway and ended up scalping for Australia's 3 group games, but to hear of people applying later than me and getting tickets really pissed me off and made me dubious about the process.

 

The ultimate insult was seeing an Aussie 'fan' scalping a bunch of tickets before the game against Brasil in Munich.

 

There really should be a criteria (like a socceroos membership) for in demand tickets like the world cup.

Australians get 15,000 World Cup tickets in first phase of allocation

FIFA says nearly 900,000 tickets have been allocated to fans from 188 countries - including 15,401 tickets to Australians - in the random selection draw for the 2014 World Cup, the highest number ever in the first phase of sales.

Football's governing body said that Brazilians received 625,276 of the 889,305 available tickets. American residents were awarded 66,646 tickets, while the English followed with 22,257 and the Germans with 18,019.

More than 6.2 million tickets were requested, nearly double the amount of total tickets available for the first World Cup in Brazil since 1950.

The next stage of sales begins on Monday on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans will be allowed to make purchases again beginning on December 8, after the World Cup draw determines where and when each of the 32 teams will play.

Still haven't got my email but my ticket account on fifa says I'm successful in my request status and payment.

Up until yesterday it was still pending.

Now all I have to do is wait for the draw to see which teams I get to see.

 

Hopefully the Aussies are seeded 3. If they are, I have a chance to see them there.

Can't believe Switzerland are seeded 1 while Italy and Holland are seeded 2.

 

If you see a guy in a Wanderers jersey in Leblon or Ipanema make sure you say hello!
