This one is a little out of left field, Dante anyone? Yes I know that he's not at the level that we're looking for, but I still think he would be an improvement on Blind & Rojo.

Thoughts?

Nah man, havent you seen all the papers? We've all but signed Griezmann, Bale, Neymar and Muller.

Woohoo!

£137 million is a bargain for Neymar IMO. I reckon he's worth at least 3 times that much :ninja:

In all seriousness, any one of those 4 names would significantly improve the starting XI. My question is how much of a chance do we have of signing any of them? My guess is very little

Who can we get?

One goal from our boots in 3 EPL games.

My guess is, Not many, if any

Reus is probably the best fit for the system and style of play, although Balw would obviously slot into the 11 nicely

Reus would be fantastic. It's so strange to watch Manchester United without two flying wingers within the ball in. He could really fit that role on the right

you had the best wide player in the world in Di Maria but your Dutch douche didn't know how to use him  :P

I'm not sure if I agree about the Best wide player in the world title. I'm pretty sure Ronaldo, Bale, Neymar, Messi, and Robben would disagree with you.

It's hard to argue with you about LVG not knowing how to use him properly. I think LVG was trying to figure out how to best use him in his system early in the season. Although after his injury and then silly red card on his return, Young came in and was destroying. I think LVG was feeling the pressure of making it in the top four and that's why he stuck with him. I think that LVG had plans to use him this season, but Di Maria was done with rainy Manchester by then. Which really sucks, because there is no doubting his ability.

Are you guys happy with van gaal?

I'm unhappy with what I believe is a squad lacking balance. CDM galore and nothing up front depth wise, with quality to consistently bang them away. Rooney isn't a 9.

Don't forget CB too & what happened with Otamendi/Pedro was a bit of a disaster.

Not getting Pedro over the line was a disaster.

The Otamendi one was all media speculation. That was just coming from Spain -most likely his agent. I vaguely remember rumblings coming up from Manchester that they were surprised by the speculation, because they were never interested.

I saying that though, surely he was an upgrade on what we have.

I predict Man U will go on a crazy run during this season, no one will be able to beat them.

Otamendi

I'll agree the links were tentative at best but the player was looking to leave Valencia & you were looking at Ramos so no surprise 1+1 were put together. The noise got stronger when the Ramos deal was falling apart & it's no surprise when you have no depth in that area.

Makes no sense too, you would sign a CB if you thought you had not enough depth or not good enough players in that position. Why go after Ramos & then not go after your second choice? Unless there was no second choice & it was sign Ramos or sign nobody? Saving the Ramos money for Neymar?

Pedro

What I find bizzare was that they were haggling so hard over a couple of million after weeks of negotiations. Chelsea come in & pay the asking price & then United come out saying they didn't want him anyway. Makes no sense to me.

United have conceded the least goals in the league of any team since November last year. We've played four games this season and conceded once, which was an own goal off a double deflection. De Gea hasn't played at all this season even though everyone is saying he's the only reason our defence is any good. We still have Marcos Rojo (starting defender for Argentina in the World Cup final and Copa America final) to come back into the side. Bringing in Schneiderlin also adds more defensive steel in the midfield. I'm not that worried about our defence.

The big worry for me at the moment is striker. You look at the top teams in the EPL over the last few seasons and the thing that got them over the line was a top, goal a game striker. City have Aguero, Chelsea had Costa banging them in last season, Liverpool were good for one season and that was mostly down to Suarez. Their defence was nothing special that year but they had a striker who could cover for it. Arsenal haven't had a gun striker for a while and the only reason they've managed without is because Wenger assembled eleventy million attacking midfielders who each score once.

We've got Memphis, Mata and Chicharito in forward positions who I'm pretty happy with, but Januzaj is still coming along and Rooney has been way off form. Maybe things would have been different if his goal against Newcastle wasn't incorrectly called offside but now the media has piled on to him the pressure is going to keep building.

Davo the only thing I'd say was that last year you very very reliant on DdG, time & time again he was pulling off world class saves week in week out (especially in the first half, not so much the second half but still very good). This season you've been much more solid and added in further insulation to your defence in centre midfield.

Yes, striker is a bit of a concern but I feel that Rooney is just a game away from banging in the goals, after years of sacrificing himself for the team & playing out of position, I'm not surprised he is finding it difficult but 100% agree!

I think our defendce has been stronger this year is also due to Schneiderlin and a fit Carrick/Schweinsteiger being on the field. We were horrible a lot of the time last year without Carrick's deep lying distribution. We also didn't have that midfield destroyer (Schneiderlin) that meant we were extremely vulnerable to counters (strangely Carrick has been doing a lot of that this season 30).

The other reason is Smalling. Although he really kicked on in his play late last year. This year he's been on another level. He's been magnificent.
