W-League preview: Wanderers v Canberra United

    http://www.w-league.com.au/article/w-league-preview-wanderers-v-canberra-united/1f2hhq9pebswv1ck5tb0248pep

The first ABC TV match of the season brings together two sides with vastly contrasting levels of experience.

Home side Western Sydney Wanderers have endured a tumultuous off-season, while Canberra United have the luxury of a largely unchanged squad. So too, the visitors have a massive advantage in experience stakes boasting seven internationals, while the Wanderers’ squad is littered with teenagers.

With a strong background in elite youth development, new coach Norm Boardman is a perfect choice for the Wanderers who have been forced to look to Sydney’s burgeoning teenage talent pool to fill their squad. Numerous gradates of the NSW Institute side have made the step up while the likes of Caitlin Cooper and Michelle Carney are among the few with genuine experience. A valuable addition will be American Keelin Winters who recently skippered Seattle Reign to the NWSL premiership.

That was amateurish. Poor defense there

Appalling defense for the second goal.

On the plus side, the middle section of the first half was pretty good. Kept possession, restricted Canberra, made some chances...

Canberra are obviously a much better, well experienced team with great chemistry. But I am not used to losing!

You haven't watched the W-League much have you? WSW only won two games last season, and one of them was that ridiculous game in Penrith where it was 500 degrees, and the other was a week later while everyone was in Newcastle for an A-League match.

Between the Y & W league teams I think I've seen maybe two or three victories max.

WSW got smashed 4-1. The 1 was a late consolation.

The female presenter on ABC needs to STFU - her love for the Canberra team was sickening at times.
