Anyone know anything about computers? I’m planning to build this one myself - never done it before but apparently 13 year olds can do it so why not me:

Go to you tube or Whirlpool forums....some great tech heads give great explanations and demos on what to do .....example......

What's your total budget? I assume you don't have anything yourself already. Putting together a PC isn't exactly 'easy', but it's far easier than say, removing parts from a car putting them back together.

I just put together a new PC took me about 7 hours, although that was mostly because I was re-using my case & CPU cooler so I had to take the whole thing apart first and then put together all the new stuff. First time I'd probably start in the morning and expect it to take until the early afternoon just to be on the safe side. If I create a system to make it quick to install I could do it in under an hour easily.

I think around that $1.8k mark is good - it’s usually what I spend on my computers. I’m planning to order the parts after Christmas because for some reason the processor has been getting more and more expensive recently

Ill watch the videos and stuff - I think the most difficult thing will be arranging the wires and ensuring the things fit nicely in the case

Oh, and ensuring that I have all the right connections and connectors - but that’s what the manuals are for I guess

Came up with a build. The AMD 2700 will be much better than the intel 8400.

I can see the biggest issue putting this together is how the prices are all over the place. I'd probably get the B450 Motherboard, 580 GPU, 970 Evo SSD, P300 HDD, Seasonic PSU, Focus G case, the xF240H monitor and the DVD writer (assuming you need it) from Scorptec, and the CPU, Ram and Keyboard from Amazon Australia. It'll end up more expensive that the "all stores" list above, but it minimises the hassles as Scorptec are a good store in NSW, and then Amazon is Amazon.

The G302 Logitech mouse is a good one if you need a new mouse.

Thanks Mack, I’ll try and meld this into my parts list (I’ve already started buying bits and pieces) and the delivery, as you’ve pointed out, is killing me

Plan is to try it myself one day and then if it doesn’t work, bring it to the local computer store and be like wtf

A guy I know bought all the parts needed to build a PC. Shopped and bought everything online and obviously saved a heap. When it came to putting it together he wasn't all that successful and brought it into a really well known shop here in Canberra to do it which they were happy to do but at a cost of $100? $120? Which I thought was reasonable. You're paying for their time from install, testing, calibration etc. + they're not making any profit from parts.

The guy scoffed at it and decided to try it again. He did do it eventually... 2 weeks later.. dozens of posts on forums, hours of videos,

Anyway, I dont know what the point of the story is. Happy gaming I guess!
