    RBB Roxy Hotel Announcement

    Dear Wanderers Family,

It is with great pleasure that we officially announce the Roxy Hotel as the newest and latest home of the Wanderers family & RBB.

This deal is one for the future of our fans, securing a sizable venue to hold over 2000 people for all home and away fixtures.

Our official launch and welcoming will take place on Sunday October 20 prior to the opening home game of the season against the Wellington Phoenix, with the venue opening up at Midday to accommodate our first home match of the year.

The RBB atmosphere will be at its loudest as the Wanderers take over the courtyard and inside seating area of the Roxy Hotel for all home games (including midweek ACL games).

The RBB would like to welcome the Roxy Hotel on board to the Wanderers and RBB Family.

We look forward to seeing you, your family and friends on October 20.

For more detail on the discussions leading up to this decision please visit this thread.

Because what's stopping a random from just putting on a Wanderers jersey to go to the roxy without having gone to the game...?

Buys wanderers jersey for $100 to avoid a $10 entry?

Well what's to stop someone not in a wanderers jersey saying "Oh but I'm a wanderers fan you have to let me in."?

they can ask if you have a membership and force you to show a membership for free entry along with ID then problem is fixed

Probably not... But I've not had to pay a cent to go there every week. So clearly there's been a mistake.

I reiterate.  This is supposed to be our "home pub".  These questions shouldn't need to be asked.

Maybe you need to know the secret RBB handshake Burns.

That was probably me you saw yeah. Would have been around 11.00 - beer in the woolie, but to eat and then headed to the roxy. Won't be an issue in future, will just stick to the woolie. Paying to get into pubs is un-English anyway.

10 bucks is a bargain the match when we beat Adelaide after dinner me and few try to get in there and tryed to hit us up with $25 each!

People paid? I've never paid, probably because I wear my jersey

However, my mate who isn't even a football fan tagged along with me yesterday. He was wearing a singlet and he got in without paying either..?

Burns you pay an entry fee because Roxy is not a pub, it is a club.

Jamcal it happens on a weekly basis, they seem to be selective of who they charge and who they don't.

If you want a guaranteed free 'pub', stick to the woollie

I've tried the Roxy but prefer the Woolpack, to me the "Woolie" is the spiritual home. On Saturday when I was there it was like the early days, you get a beer with no line up, easily find a seat, free sausage sizzle and the fans still warm their vocals with the occasional song.

You shouldnt have to pay to get into a home pub.

imo, both places have their +/-'s, but the woolie had a better feel to it last year than the roxy does this year.

Ive been back afterwards quite a few times and never been charged. Interestingly though, on Saturday the guy in front of me was charged but I was stamped and went straight through. Is it possibly because they can tell from the license scanner if you were there before the game?

Not sure - I was there before the game (and they got 90 bucks of my hard earned to prove it) but still a cover charge. Woolpack Drinking Crew it is. Do we need a flag and s**t.... ?

The Woolpack Drinking Crew is a heap of us Bay 55ers, plus various other awesome forumites & people!

    Everyone's welcome!  :drinks:

Wanderers fans aren't meant to be getting charged no matter what time but these ****wits that run the club "levelz" that actually aren't part of the roxy are the people charging every week they do this

I'll try and speak to a few people see what can be done

Guy's and girl's, there is good and bad for both venues....and both venue's are very different. Just choose what suit's you best.

Did the Roxy end up doing that "first 200 schooners of Toohey's New are free" thing?

Yeah I think that's a bit of a myth, there's been a few gamedays where we've been one of the first people to rock up and we've been given jack ****
