Quietly confident he'll re-sign for next season.

He'll be even better with a proper pre season under his belt.

From Ray Gatt on Twitter:

Hearing the issues relating to Shinji Ono not yet signing contract relate to issues around when he wants to come back for next preseason. He wants to come back mid July. Club wants him back June 1 with rest of squad.

A mid-July return would put him before we even played a match in pre-season this year, and it'd leave two entire months before the likely start of the season.

I still have no idea what a team is going to do with a 4 month pre-season anyway.

can we jsut sign him FFS, if Shinji is still umming and arhing after all this time then the question needs to be asked if he is even the right fit for this club, nobody else seems to have a problem re-signing, infact they cant get pen to paper quick enough.

there working out 3rd party payments before signing as his 500,000 will probably be 750,000ish wont be long he will stay

Im sure the return to pre-season date thing is not an issue at all. The club would be stupid if so.

Were very much a one for all all for one club, but no other person im the club is away from thier wife an kids, common sense would come in to place.

I woul like it done sooner then later, dont want any off field issues come finals.

same.

You would think that they have something in the works. God forbid if he doesn't resign, they would manage it as to not disrupt the momentum and harmony of the club.

popa isnt the type of manager that will allow a player to dictate when he returns.

If that is in fact the case. I have no idea if that is the case however if everyone else is back in June and Ono wants July then that wont work. All in this together. Thats what popa has built.

Wy doesn't he just bring his family here and stop the delay.

I'd imagine he's got school aged kids, changing schools it difficult enough, changing countries, school and language may be possibly a step too far?

This is what he said when asked why he was leaving the Bundesliga side VfL Bochum in 2010:

"It is a deliberate step. My family has lived in Japan, my children go to kindergarten, or to school. The last few months have been very tough for me. While we have every day the phone with each other via the Internet, but this is of course not the same, as can be seen every day."

Uprooting everything his family knows, for potentially a year (hopefully more), is too big a step for him. I can respect that. I just hope a compromise can be reached.

It sounds like neither Shinji or the club want to budge. I can't blame either really. May be awhile before we hear any more on this.

Whenever I've seen Shinji playing this year, he always seems to be chewing gum. Is this the case? and if so, is it common practice for football players? I've never noticed another player chewing gum while playing, and personally find it strange and potentially hazardous e.g. go in for a 50-50 challenge, end up swallowing gum. In saying that, who am I to question his ways- he isn't nicknamed 'genius' for nothing  ;)

Let's not get over the top- Keep in context that that article had literally no quotes and was pretty awful before we jump into mass hysteria.

Should be fine... I got told about it by Aidan before it got posted. He also told me Sydney were chasing ADP before anyone else did to which I responded "**** off they are"...

from @FOXSportsNews twitter feed:

.@wswanderersfc deny Shinji Ono deal has been agreed. Deal in final stages and NOT expected to be announced next week #ALeague

I heard on the grapevine he actually signed some weeks ago but it's being trickle fed to the media. Don't how true that is, but it's what I heard.

I can also confirm this from my sources, I mentioned this almost two months ago...

Just said on Fox that the club have denied that he's re signed, but that they're close to an agreement. Also said nothing will be announced on Monday.

I'm not so jizzy anymore.
