Taurus Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 https://footballnsw.com.au/2020/03/04/round-1-preview-npl-2-nsw-mens/ ROUND 1 PREVIEW – NPL 2 NSW MEN’S 4 March , 2020 By Football NSW The long road to glory in the National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s competition begins this weekend. Across the league, there will be dreams of trophies, accolades and champagne-soaked celebrations, but for now the most important thing is to get the first step right. Match of the Round: Western Sydney Wanderers v Hills United, 7:00pm Sunday 8 March, Lily Homes Stadium Our first featured match of the year is a Sunday evening showdown as the defending Champions have an “away” game against the youngsters in Red & Black. Hills benefited from a four goal first half blitz the last time these two sides met, obviously something in the same vein would do nicely. This is where skipper Daine Merrin could come in handy – he has four goals in four appearances against the Wanderers. At the other end of the experience scale, former Wanderers winger Stephan De Robillard has been impressing in preseason and is an outside chance to play against his former club. Western Sydney have their usual array of youth internationals to help them start 2020 on a positive note. Jarrod Carluccio and Mark Natta were recently away in the Netherlands for a Young Socceroos training camp, while Ali Auglah and Oliver Kalac have experience with the Joeys. The Wanderers have scored in all six of their previous matches against Hills – Jacob Vasiliou and Rory Jordan will be important if they are to maintain that run. Edinburgh 1
Taurus Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 NPL2 season preview https://footballnsw.com.au/2020/03/02/npl-2-nsw-mens-2020-season-preview/ Western Sydney Wanderers Last season: 9th, 36 points, 10 wins, 6 draws, 10 losses Well knwon coach Arthur Diles starts his third full season in charge of the Wanderers 1st Grade side and is looking to continue the Red & Black’s strong reputation for youth development. Defender Mohamed Al Taay will once again captain the side, while the likes of Jarrod Carluccio, Lochlan Constable, Rory Jordan and Jacob Vasiliou are also back for another campaign. There are a few players who could break out in 2020: Mark Natta has shown tremendous promise in the centre of defence, Peter Grozos (younger brother of Kosta) & Ali Auglah are both tricky left-footed attackers, and Alessandro Lopane could well see game time this year as an attacking midfielder. Three players have joined from other clubs. Jamie Percevski returns to Western Sydney after a stint at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Dauntae Mariner joins from Brisbane Roar, while Paolo Bonanni has made the switch from Sydney FC. by Eric Subijano (@eric_subijano) Edinburgh 1

Taurus Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 NPL Preview: NWS Spirit FC v Wanderers Western Sydney Wanderers FCUpdated: 3 hrs ago The Wanderers NPL2 first grade team will be looking to build off their dominant 3-1 win over last year’s grand finalists when they take on NWS Spirit FC on Sunday evening at Christie Park. Sunday’s opponents drew 2-2 with the Central Coast Mariners last week, showing a lot of energy late in the match to earn a draw. The Wanderers were impressive in their first hit-out of the season, and excellent performances from Kosta Grozos, Jarrod Carluccio and Mo Adam has seen them earn a call-up to the A-League squad. Oliver Kalac, the 17-year-old son of former Socceroos goalkeeper and Wanderers goalkeeper coach Zeljko Kalac, has also earned a call-up. As a result, the Men’s squad will be injected with a lot of exciting youth from the U18’s and U20’s teams. One of those players is the younger brother of Kosta Grozos, Peter. At just 16 years of age, Peter came off the bench in last week’s victory – the first time the two brothers have played together for the Wanderers – and added a lot of energy down the right flank. With older brother Kosta earning a call-up to the Hyundai A-League squad, this could be Peter’s moment to shine and make an impact. The Red & Black also see Jamie Percevski, Isaac Hovar, Paolo Bonanni and Evan Tsakos join the squad. Nick Suman is an absentee after sustaining a shoulder injury late in the second half last weekend. Western Sydney Wanderers NPL2 Squad v NWS Spirit FC Oliver KALAC (gk), Jack GIBSON, Jamie PERCEVSKI, Isaac HOVAR, Paolo BONANNI, Mark NATTA, Thomas AQUILINA, Lochlan CONSTABLE, Peter GROZOS, Yousef SAWALHA, Rory JORDAN, Duante MARINER, Evan TSAKOS, Mohamed AL TAAY (c) NPL2 NSW ROUND 2 NWS Spirit FC v Western Sydney Wanderers 15 March 2020, 7:00pm Christie Park, Macquarie Park Edinburgh 1

Taurus Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 It's a good move & one which portraits a football first mindset. It should be an interesting concept over a 11 match round robin, particularly given that our u23 or division B squad, will include a number of YS & potential Olympians. We'll get a decent guide as to how they may fair against established NPL1 clubs, who may themselves aspire to play in an N2D in the not too distant future. Prydzopolis Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 It’s going to be a tough NPL season. Many players aren’t being paid. Thought 2 clubs had pulled their teams completely. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I see that there's some debate as to why we were chosen and not clubs who finished above us in NPL2 last season. I have my theories but do you have any inside knowledge about this decision Taurus? Newcastle Jets just moved from Northern NSW to Football NSW NPL4 after the restructuring of the comps. The moved into our spot with Mounties also pulling out of NPL2 for this season. Prydzopolis 1

FFS it's for one season of 11 games. Our team will return to NPL2 next season and Newcastle back to NPL4. It's not permanent. Did the mariners even volunteer to take Sutherland Sharks for the season? Plus how many youth players have the mariners stolen from our academy.?
