  • Fundraiser Sunday 21/12/14: Help One Of Our Own

    102megan

Admin: I've promoted this to an article as there are already comments in the thread and I would like to keep them. Also moved to the Western Sydney Wanderers sub-forum as that is viewable by the public.

As I'm sure a few of you have already seen on the various forms of social media, one of our own, Nato, has been diagnosed with cancer. :( :(

He's a great bloke, spending heaps of his own time making flags for the RBB - you'll often see him in the front of Bay 55, proudly waving the giant 55 flag.

A fundraiser has been organised for this SUNDAY 21st DECEMBER, at CENTRAL GARDENS, MERRYLANDS, to help raise some money for him & his family through these tough times.

If you're free on Sunday, be sure to come along!! And be sure to spread the word.

Unfortunately couldn't make. Any guess of numbers?Great stuff by all concerned.

Couple of hundred I think, never good at guessing big groups of people, good turn out!! Not sure of which other players but I saw cole, la Rocca, Poljak (with RBB scarf), juric and Santa. My brother told me golec was supposed to be there too but I guess I got there at 130 so could have been there earlier!

From what I've heard, Santa comes back every year.

He certainly has a decent belly to have fire in.

They announced towards the end of the day that they're setting up a bank account in which money can be directly donated, but hasn't been released. Once someone sees it, please post it to here!

Great work by all. Sadly I won't be able to make it to any fundraisers, but I'm waiting for account details. I'll be happy to throw some cash for someone who needs it more than us.

Why didn't our club advertise this event on their website/social media?

Would've had more people turn up.

It does seem strange, can't use the excuse that there was enough time but maybe the boys that organised didn't ask the cub to get involved?

The WSW admin retweeted the RBB posts about the fundraiser. Looks like it was retweeted around the 20th of Dec

Yeah, I was just about to say WSW Twitter did RT it.

Anyway - It was a RBB organised event, not WSW organised  (albeit WSW staff were in attendance)

Also guys - not the time or place to worry that that little, insignificant stuff anyway.

    Bigger worries and battles ahead.

Throughout the day, would've been around 500-600 people I reckon!

Mrs Dcol informed me that I managed to make an ass of myself and totally didn't see/hear yourself and tgywyw. Im sorry, I had my blinkers on as we were flying through on our way to Newcastle.

Good to hear the day went well!

I've never met the guy, but I feel like we've lost a family member :(

    RIP

I've never met Nato, but losing one of our own feels like the biggest loss we had all season.

Although we never met, it was a shared passion that brought us close and it's a very sad day when we lose one of our brethren. I will pray for you, your family and loved ones in these hard times.

    RIP brother.

Read about this sad news on Twitter earlier this morning

I had the privilege of meeting Nato on many occasions including numerous Socceroos games

A huge loss to football community, and most importantly his dear family and close friends

Hope that further funds can be raised for his kids and wife, also battling serious illness

    Vale Nato
