Description: Mark Bridge revitalised his career after being used sparingly in his final years at Sydney FC with his consistency at the highest level stopping him from achieving his potential. After a season under Tony Popovic Bridge gained a new sense of professionalism, winning the club golden boot award in 2012/13 and earning a 3 year extension to his contract. He left the club for a lucrative contract in Thailand, but returned to Australia shortly after, re-joining the Wanderers on a 2 year contract. In 2017/18 Bridge finished the 2nd highest scorer but his 5 goal output had a minimal impact on the Wanderers fortunes and he began to look off the pace at the end of the season. He was injured for almost the entire 2018/19 season and subsequently retired from professional football.

Love the beard, if i wasn't blessed with such crap facial hair genetics i would have started Brideys Bearded Brigade on the sidelines to help him cheer him on as he glides through defenders courtesy of the aero dynamics that only that glorious beard could provide.

Bridge should just give up his bet, he ain't got a chance.Anyone know what the winner wins

AFAIK The loser has to pay for the winner's coffees for the season. It was "drinks", but I believe Bridgey is still alcohol free? Or at least during the season.

So potentially this could go on forever?

NTS already looks like Malcolm Naden!

My cousin said exactly the same thing re Naden. Also I've heard Osama Bridge-Laden going around.

Bridge has more to worry about than losing his beard bet to NTS.

Santalab has to be close to taking his starting spot.

Santa and Spira or Santa and Heff on the left starting?

Wow, that high an opinion of Adam, Manfred? Not that I can disagree...

I thought D'Apuzzo last season was very good, but this season he's just not been up to scratch. His contribution to both goals we conceded so far this season has been there for all to see and also I suspect he and Bridge aren;t clicking like they did last go round. When you see how good Polenz and Hersi are and look at Bridge and D'Apuzzo it's not rocket science to see what's wrong...

Having said that D'Apuzzo can hopefully come good, unlike the whole meandering clusterfuq that is a certain cross-town rival's entire defence

i think if D'Apuzzo is to lose his place (and i don't think he probably should yet, there is no one screaming down his neck to take his spot), Shannan Cole is probably next in line.

Spira isn't fit yet, and i think Cole probably deserves a chance before Heffernan

My bad...forgot about Shannon. He could slot in for sure. I'd say D'Apuzzo will get some very intense tutelage from Popa this week and will start against ESFC, but if he and Bridge can't combo defensively like they did last season start looking for Shannon to come on.

i'd honestly go for Santalab.

not because Bridge has been worse than D'Apuzzo, as D'Apuzzo has been the weak link, but Santalab has done enough to earn a start for me.

i would have put elrich before cole but.......... ah well :(

I'm not sure about Cole. It seems that whenever he plays we concede a goal at the back post because he's ball watching and has lost the player he's marking. With his footwork I see him as more of a winger but we're pretty stacked in those positions and with players who are specialist wingers.
