DB is a bit of a party boy i hear and just won't knuckle down..

I recall Popa saying that all the club asks from the players is that they give their best. Saba didn't, and we know how that ended.

I very much doubt that, with the strict rule on no alcohol, diet/sleep closely monitored (refer to skinfold test above) doesn't equate to party boy status.

Yep rattled Guanghzhou and they couldn't get back in the game.

Without Saba stirring up the Guangzhou Bitches, resulting in 2 Red cards, we wouldn't have won the series.

since when? I knew bridgey cut out the grog at the start of season one and that lasted a while, but I wasn't aware it has become a ruling for the whole team.

I heard it one one if the ACL videos, one of the players mentioning the coach will let us have a drink tonight or something along those lines.

Probably meant less moderation required?

Is Bouzanis your favourite player?

Know someone whose favourite player is Bouzanis, and you haven't got them a Christmas prezzie yet?

Then be sure to check out http://wanderersauctions.com.au/ (help out some Wanderers family - http://www.wswanderersfc.com.au/article/berthaly-family-appeal/13qgcsr1oi3pu1iag74moxorud)  -  and make a bid on his Signed Training Gloves!

eased to pursue an opportunity overseas, with stopper Dean Bouzanis joining the Club from Western Sydney Wanderers as a direct replacement.

Velaphi, 28, departs after featuring 21 times for the Club’s Hyundai A-League side across the past three seasons, while Bouzanis, 25, commences his career with City effective immediately until the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

Velaphi secured an A-League high 9 clean sheets from 19 appearances last season and made an important contribution as the team reached the A-League Semi-Finals in May 2015.

City Head Coach John van't Schip said Velaphi has been a great professional both on and off the pitch for the Club, but understood the player’s desire to pursue another opportunity.

"Since arriving at the Club, Tando has been a model professional and has developed into a mature and talented goalkeeper,†van’t Schip said.

“Tando was a popular figure not only in the change rooms but with the fans and I'm sure they will join with me in wishing Tando all the best for the next challenge in his career.â€

Bouzanis commenced his career in Sydney at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) before earning a youth contract with English Premier League outfit Liverpool, where he featured for the under-18s and reserves side.

The talented 'keeper then enjoyed spells with Accrington Stanley, Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United before returning to Australia in 2014, signing with the Wanderers.

Bouzanis will be eligible for selection against his former team in Melbourne City FC’s Round 14 A-League match this Saturday 9 January 2016 at AAMI Park, kick-off 7.30pm.

Can't believe it

Starts in 2 games.

JvS saving Sorensen for FFA Cup during the week

There was 2 minutes in the match the summed him up perfectly. Pulls off a world class save low down to his left & then from the resulting corner fluffs a simple save conceding a goal.

His talent was never in question at WSW, it was his consistency that let him down. Can't see him getting much game time once Sorensen is fit.

Considering he's been on the bench for all the games, I'd say no.

I think he had a minor injury to begin with, Bouzanis came in, and has kept the spot (to most peoples surprise).

The fact that he continues to keep his spot despite obvious stuff ups is bizarre. Sorensen would not be on the bench if he was injured, what happened if he wasn't fit & Bouzanis got injured in the first 5 minutes

Maybe he is showing he is better on the training field than Sorensen? Different attitude it appears to the one he had whilst with us (apparently)

No idea why Bouzdog is starting over Sorensen at Vision City tbh. Sorensen is definitely a better pick.

Usually scratch my head with is van schips selections , but this is one his most puzzling . So prone to mistakes as opposed to Sorensen

I have to agree here, on the majority of moments he is involved in the game he seems to do okay & do the basics right but I'd be quite concerned if I was a City fan right now. He has demonstrated that he is capable of a brain fade right now almost every match or a dodgy moment.

The reasons I see him picked over Sorenson:

- He might have been signed to play a certain number of games in his contract

- In training Sorenson has not demonstrated that he is the better keeper

- So far MC have not dropped many points as a result of DB, by dropping him & starting him every second match would be a massive blow to his confidence. I feel that JvS has promised DB an extended run in the team to prove himself that he should be at city & deserves to be the number 1 keeper once Sorenson retires.

Right now he isn't convincing but he is doing enough, good enough to be number 2 but don't see him as a top top keeper.
