Very pleased for Brentford...went to a very friendly Griffin Park a couple of times in the 70s....plus they had to sell Maupay and Watkins in recent seasons and still prevailed.

Yeah I went to Brentford old ground. Wooden stand I recall, planks on the terrace.

Pub in every corner of the ground. Def no probs with away colours there, family kind of place....

The City of Brentford would be buzzing at the moment

Funny place Brentford.....near Kew gardens and the Thames if you know that part of London. Used to be a few social housing areas but very gentrified , parts have always been very posh. I used the travel lodge hotel by Kew bridge a short walk from Brentfords ground for all away games in London as good price and easy walk to the tube, so know the place well.

Big week for Kenny Dougall. Gets a Socceroos call up then goes and does this.

He just made the Channel 10 News...for his brace.

Probably not the right thread for this but...Harry Kewell has been appointed by Barnet as their new coach:

They were very lucky as they were reprieved from relegation due to Macclesfield Town folding and Dover Athletic refusing to play for the rest of the season due to a lack of funding.

Maybe we should start an English non-league thread now :xnod:

If you did, you'll probably hear me posting about Notts County all the time, LOL.

My fingers are crossed they defeat Torquay United later on today. If they win, they are off to the promotional play offs final and play against either Stockport County or Hartlepool United.

Someone has to.......Notts are in good form but Torquay away and then potentially Stockport will be tough.

I remember going to Barnett away supporting Southend Utd. Was last game of the season, southend finished safe but lower table div 3 at the time; a bunch of their fans had hired an open top bus to take them from Southend to Barnett they turned up at pub like FA Cup winners

Barnets ground was basic to say the least.

we spent a chunk of the game singing

“Does the council, does the council, know you’re here? Does the council know you’re here?”

There was also a secco who looked like Frank Butcher from eastenders so the chant became “are you Frank butcher? Are you Frank butcher in disguise”

lower league football is ace

Yeah, got some great players this season.

Kyle Wootton is a gun striker, I fear he'll get signed to some English One or Two club next season. The same applies to the Portuguese striker Ruben Rodrigues. Both have had a great season

Jack Reeves is a great midfielder in his 30's

Connell Rawlinson and Adam Chicksen are great defenders. Rawlinson was the star player last year.

I was want Notts back in the in the English Football League and not the National League anymore.

Thanks, @WSWJACK

They played well but the result didn't go the right way.

The penalty that was given in the box really blew their chances.

Under what circumstances would a penalty be given outside the box? :xbop:

Jarred Gillett referees over there now so you never know.

Well done the Monkey Hangers on making the National League play off final against Torquay. Hope they win and do it!

Final to be played at Bristol City ground which is MUCH closer and easier for Torquay. Should have been played in the midlands / Birmingham area.
