I'm pretty sure I've nailed down the pronunciation of "Bridge" and "Cole" though...

Inb4 someone says it's pronounced Chole.

I remember the arguements about the pronounciation of Beauchamp,

That is as hard as white english names get lol

My favourite two surnames in regards to pronunciations at the moment are:

  • Cockburn, and
  • Death

Apparently, neither are to be pronounced, as one would expect...

There is a Dr Cockburn in Blacktown. I  don't really want to know what he specialises in...  :ninja:

I know someone with Death as their last name,

I noticed tonight that Juric on his jersey tonight has that little line/dash (I have no idea what it is called) above the C in his name..

Does it mean anything except for the proper spelling of his name or is there something to it?

Or am I just being really over observant??

That's cool - I didn't noticed that!

It probably should've been there the whole time though, seeing as it's the proper spelling??

Not many players form the Balkans have the dash on top of the c. It's mainly because people from those countries sort of know how to pronounce each individual c. In the Croatian example it can have 3 meanings and we've got all in our squad - Juric, Covic (where the first 'c' I believe is a hard 'ch' whereas the last one is a softer one which I can't really compare as English does not have that sound, but it definitely is not pronounced kovich) and the last example is Golec where his c is pronounced as ts. The ex-Yu 'c' is never pronounced as 'k' though.

Then you've got the dodgy 's' - in the cases of Spiranovic and Sterjovski it should be pronounced as a 'sh' I believe.

Bloody wogs.

Bloody excellent lesson in pronunciation, unfortunately there is a large possiblity that none of them will play in the red & black hoops next year but still I expect the pronunciation of the names to be 100% excellent in the pre match tomorrow :good:

Gatt's tweeting that Tomi wants to stay at Wanderers.

Nobody believes gatt.

Tomi will have no choice when no one else wants him at the $ he is on, neither will the Wanderers when Bulut leaves for a decent pay packet.

Probably hasn't got any overseas offers.

Hasn't warranted any decent ones really. Cahill's spending his millions ;)

He will end up East.

I agree, I've read three seperate sources that have said he is going to try out Europe, but probably doesn't have any decent offers. He might have a few opportunities to trial with teams, but trailing & signing are two different things.

Just saw in the Telegraph that Tomi has turned down an offer from Juventus... apparently he wants to establish himself at the club he signs for not sign then get loaned out to another club as may well be the case at Juve !!!.   Reckon after the season he has had he is extremely lucky to get such an offer from Europe, Juve scouts mustn't have watched much of Tomi's game time in the A  league this season ;)

The guy is crazy!! Gets a solid offer from a big club (just look at Troisi, how well that turned out) & turns it down. Craziness!
