West13 Posted September 24, 2016 Summary anyone? Was it as grim as Facebook makes it out? **** facebook. It was a great day out with the lads. And we ran kids and second stringers for much of it. Prydzopolis, StringerBellend, theguyyouwishyouwere and 4 others 7 Link to comment
beatsurrender Posted September 24, 2016 watched it on 442 link. A nothing performance. We had absolutely no cutting edge, (no change there). It was a reserve team in the main but our new #10 was underwhelming.... Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

It was a reserve team in the main but our new #10 was underwhelming.... He wasn't actually surrounded by quality. First hit out for us. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. At least he got some miles in his legs. matty and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment
Nathg Posted September 24, 2016 Result doesn't matter too much from this game. Good to see a lot of the younger players get a run. I thought Melling was quite good in midfield. He will be put to good use during the ACL period DamnedUnited, Alexander and Prydzopolis 3 Link to comment

Watched this game on the internet and almost fell asleep from boredom. Newcastle would have got something out of it but for us duck egg learned I would suggest. Just a pointless , badly timed stroll in the afternoon sun of the wine country . Sorry for the poor bastards who drove all the way up there and back and probably had to pay to get in. Would have been better to stage a full training session on how to defend set pieces in anticipation of the derby , and after conceding the opening goal from ( again) a set piece against City. xxBrandonxx Posted September 24, 2016 Just got home. Not entirely negative as we faced a full strength jets team with mainly youth products. They should of had 4 and we made them look a lot better than they are. Baccus killed it. What a player he's turning out to be. Clisby is going to get shredded this season, not convinced. A lot of work to do before round 1. ****. Prydzopolis, GunnerWSW and DamnedUnited 3 Link to comment
Taurus Posted September 24, 2016 Jets played their 1st eleven, bar Poliak. We played half a dozen AL contracted players who need game time & some NPL2 players who are at best, on NYL contracts. Had our Young Socceroo squad members been available, we would have been more competitive. Anyone that watched the stream would now know, why Redmayne is our undisputed 1st choice keeper. Btw, I had a chat to Labi at half time & he's been finally given clearance to return to the pitch, 12 months after his knee operation. Not sure who the ref sent off (Boogaard again?) Link to comment

Hard to gather much from the overall performance with so many squad/youth players. Nico didn't seem to do much, but the whole team was like that. Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
Taurus Posted September 24, 2016 It was Hoffman that sent off on the report of a linesman. He kicked out at Kuku during a set piece scuffle. Consisdering how much he stank up the entire A-League for the Eastern Facing idiots last year him ripping up anything is pretty shocking. GunnerWSW 1 Link to comment
Erebus Posted September 26, 2016 Why, 2 weeks from Round 1 were we playing the youth team? I understand they played a few nights before, but why organise this match then? What was the benefit to our A-League team? At least the u19s Socceroos won the Asian Cup. Shabow to start in the derby. mack, xxBrandonxx and Prydzopolis 3 Link to comment
Taurus Posted September 26, 2016 I suspect the Jets trial was locked in before the FFA Cup QF draw was known. Irrespective, I know the club are attempting to organise another trial game later this week Alexander, Erebus, Prydzopolis and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Hiriser Posted September 26, 2016 Kearsley Hotel was nice, not much to say about the game though. Nico is obviously short on fitness but everytime he lost it he fought hard to try to win it back. xxBrandonxx and matty 2 Link to comment

I noticed his defensive work ethic as well. That's the benefit of signing foreign wingers in their 20's. They might not be as dynamic as a Castelen type, but they've got the engine to contribute at both ends of the pitch Paul01 1 Link to comment
Zelinsky Posted September 26, 2016 It was boys against men. But: our two senior full backs looked vulnerable. Jamieson will be missed. Baccus and Melling looked solid in midfield. More police and security than wsw supporters. I trust they enjoyed standing in the sun as much I enjoyed lying in the grass. Lots of possession, no chances created, defending high and being vulnerable to fast counter attacks - I hope this is not the template for S5. Poljak and Haliti appreciated being approached by red and black. They seem to enjoy their time in the Hunter. Good for them. Nice guys. The thought of relying on young players like Shabow or Scott to make an impact worries me deeply. thefairy 1 Link to comment
