What about a +1 for 'These Colours' @btron3000

I like Glorious. I'd also be more than happy with These Colours, but I ain't gonna bang a drum to change anything. We didn't need a walk-out song when we won the league and the ACL. I'm happy singing along to whatever the RBB choose. If they change it every week, they change it. For me part of the fun is picking the "set list".  What will come next? We're behind, we need one of the defiant ones. Scored a goal, throw on the celebratory ones. A good capo feeds off the game and the other fans and in turn they feed off him. And changing up the first songs was part of that for me. I actually think having the same song each week will get stale, no matter what the song.

As for Glorious, I like the way the lyrics weirdly roll together (I'm a fan of unusual lyrical patterns). I like that the "nonsensical" words are not straightforward. They can be interpreted in different ways. Give me that over the far-too-obvious love song "The nights that fall upon us...".  I have the deepest respect for the RBB core but those lyrics took affection too far. It was like we were sitting on a tropical island proposing to our better half. The RBB should be sweaty and dirty and alcohol-soaked. Not sprinkled with love dust.

Well you're in the thick of it in the RBB. The rest of us are standing and applauding for the team.....but….it's not the same as actually participating.

 So.... no walk out as such.

No doubt that would be fun - but at different points during  the game - not as a much anticipated, much loved ritual as the teams come out (much loved - if the choice has maximum appeal)

I'm actually not one for rituals. Didn't grow up with any religious or cultural rituals at all.

BUT in this instance, I'd like one (as long as it had broad appeal) rather than the spontaneity you prefer. Everything else absolutely needs spontaneity, but a shared ritual with a walkout is something different. To me, its role is to call everyone to a common purpose, and to be accessible to everyone.

There are limited times during a game when we can all join in - particularly for people at the other end of the stadium to the RBB (which isn't my situation at the new stadium, but I know what that's like). A WDWSF is one. A goal celebration is another. And a walkout is the third - which is the icebreaker for the game.

Anyway - that's my 2 cents worth (for the 150th time)

Top stuff squire.

I liked the idea of an "uplifting" walkout song I could sing along with. While not ever thinking the RBB must change from glorious, I had a silent desire that they would. After reading your comments I've abandoned that (selfish) preference. Long may the RBB continue to do it their way.

Oooops! Forgot to say....

"I'm a fan of unusual lyrical patterns" - well...okayyyyy.

All I know is that we live in the West ...we stand on a crest....with our hearts on our chest...and something (not sure if it's the standing on the crest, the singing...or the team....) is more glorious than death.

PS I quite like the idea that there's a line about "the night falling upon us...." :D

As for this bit,  I didn't even recognise this line - it's part of "Glorious", is it?

Don't know what it's from but pretty sure it's not glorious

Yeah I edited my post - I figured that out.

It doesn't rhyme with West/crest/chest and death - so it can't be from Glorious.

@wendybr

When you talk of this needing an uplifting song, does this fit the bill?

There are some wonderful lyrics. It is well known and easy to sing along with.

Imagine Wanderland in full voice.

(And, yes Boro, it has bagpipes)

You can forget this one, Roar have just used it for their walkout song.

They would they are Queensland bogans, that qualifies as new music up there

Given then have Robbie Fowler thought they would do that terrible Kopite dirge that I shall not mention

Hmmmm is that new?

Dont remember them usung it before, but maybe they have.

To Ossie's suggestion... love the song, great energy, but I can't see it.

Thank **** Roar used the Voice because that song does not represent WS in the slightest nor dare I say, resonate with many either as a football anthem.

I won't quote what my wife said when she heard it on the tv last night lol

Lol...maybe. It's certainly well known and energising.

I suspect it might be considered too common place for the purists of WSW, though?

Cue Stringer threatening to hand back his membership if it ever got a run at Bankwest. ;)

Generational tastes come into preferences with this.

But look at us... a Walkout song has been discussed on TWO threads today.

:woah::woah:

Or is it 3? I'm  losing track of what's what  re: walkout song discussions today.

So let me get this right it can't be popular, commercial or ever been sung in public before. Narrows it down then.
