Apart from his two games at the end of 2018/19.

I honestly thought he didn't have a game in the senior squad. I do recall he was on the bench a few games though.

It's always the big question of whether they can actually make the step up though. How many bright young youth talents have had a good game or two in A-league and faded into obscurity?

Nikolic had the potential to be a big player. He was supposed to be signed to the Celtic youth but COVID ruined those plans. I was hoping he would at least get a game in the senior squad but Robinson said he can go and Marconi signed him immediately.

If just another *what if* story on Nikolic. Just like with Monge, Mo Adam and Cordier. Just what happen if they stayed at the Wanderers.

Statistically if they stayed at WSW they would've most likely played every now and then, probably been inconsistent, been dropped and languished on the bench until finally being released.

Since the club has minimal culture and a revolving door of players/managers it's tough for any youth prospect to make their mark. Baccus has been the most consistent prospect and he has progressed and regressed depending on the season/manager/system.

Could have done with Mo Adam he just needed one coach to take the punt on him.

For the heartland of football and with all the back slapping the club do about the facilities and youth teams, the return is pathetic. Take out Baccus and how many have played 40/50 games? We’d have to be the only A-League club to not sell one of the youngsters to and overseas club.

Very forgettable games, two away losses to end the season when we had no chance of making finals already. He did manage to give away a penalty against the Mariners.

We supposedly sold Baccus to the team in Hungary but we won't know if that's still gone through until the end of the season.

The question then becomes who is the next one to perform and get a overseas move to make the club some cash? I thought Natta but he hasn't stepped up enough, although he's still young. Aquilina maybe if he can improve next year.

The club posted a tweet about the NPL squad today:

I don't know much about Tomi Vidovic. I think he was appointed the Sydney United manager or assistant manager a few years ago.

What a game it was yesterday afternoon between Smurfs and Wollongong Wolves.

Lachie Scott has scored the late equaliser to make it 3-3, he could have scored more goals if he didn't fluff his chances like he did all game.

Smurfs youth players are something different, 1st time I have watched them play, so talented, I don't understand why Smurfs don't promote their youth players to the A-League, they are around u21 and can hold their own against older players, especially with NPL being more physical than the A-League.

From Twitter:

https://wswanderersfc.com.au/news/wanderers-league-one-side-deducted-points-and-sanctioned

Football NSW provides this update on its investigation into repeated incidents involving the ignition of flares and fireworks by spectators at Western Sydney Wanderers FC (WSW) Football NSW League One matches during the 2022 Premiership season.

Following its investigation into these incidents, Football NSW has imposed the following sanctions on WSW:

A fine of $6,500; and
Deduction of 6 Competition Points for the WSW First Grade team (3 of those Competition Points suspended for the balance of the 2022 season).
Football NSW acknowledges that since the last incident occurred, WSW have taken significant pro-active steps to avoid any reoccurrence at their matches.

The safety and wellbeing of all football participants, including that of spectators, remains of paramount importance. Football NSW will continue to work closely with key stakeholders to ensure football provides a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for all.

so that would knock us down to 4th and be below CCM but we still get promoted

Promotion delayed. Shouldn't be an issue though, we'd have to lose both our final games, Northern Tigers would have to win both of theirs, and the scores in all 4 games would need to be around 7-0.

edit - Actually there's no delay because 3 of those points are a suspended sentence, assuming we can get through the last two games without pyro, we're up no matter what.

So what I'm reading there is if Northern Tigers lose then consequence-free pyro.

Sydney United only got a $3,500 fine and a 3 point suspended loss for a match in 2018 where their supporters threw balls on the field to delay the game, got into a melee with police & security guards, allowed a banned fan to watch the game, punched a guard and let a supporter smoke a cigarette (yes really, this is a breach of regulations). That wild brawl vs Rockdale last year, both teams got away with just a 6 point reduction and that involved weapons, throwing objects at each other, flare throwing and a huge police response.

If you one of the players who had a chance of winning the competition, i reckon you would be dirty.

It makes you wonder whether those that like lighting their own bit of pyro at games might reconsider if they got sued in the courts by the club or player affected by such lightings....? Made to pay the clubs fine and recompense to players.? I reckon it would stop pretty much straight away .

NSW Government is f***** when it comes to regulating marine distress items.

They fail to force sellers to sell to registered boat owners.

Time to sue Perrottet and co

I get that, but by the same token I would have a guess and say there would be a least one boat owner amongst the fan base who would be happy to aid supply. I just don't get the fascination with flares.

There is a difference. Is it legal in Poland ?  It isn't here.

You are right but the fascination comes from eastern Europe

It’s not legal, cops/security are more worried about keeping the groups apart so they’ve almost got free reign as long as they stay in their area.
